Doesn't Look Like Ben Affleck Needed Much Padding On The New BATMAN Costume

Yesterday Zack Snyder revealed the very first image of Affleck in the new Bat-suit, and he looked, really big! Some fans assumed the suit was padded, but these recent paparazzi snaps taken of the actor as he leaves a tavern in California suggest differently..

Now obviously the costume provides a bit of extra definition etc, but I think it's safe to say that Ben Affleck will be playing the most physically imposing Bruce Wayne/Batman we've seen on screen thus far. What do you guys think? Does he look a little TOO big for a character that is, after all, supposed to be as agile as he is powerful? You can see the full batch of pics at the link below.

Tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman, the movie is directed by Zack Snyder from a story by David Goyer and screenplay by Chris Terrio, and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, Tao Okamoto, Callan Mulvey, with Holly Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, and Jeremy Irons. And as of right now, the film is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.

JordanKing - 5/15/2014, 8:13 AM
I'm sorry but the material used in the Bat-suit does not fit around the human body like that. There was padding involved.
McNyagano - 5/15/2014, 8:13 AM
He's gonna own! Suck it haters!
sKeemAn - 5/15/2014, 8:14 AM
He is definitely swoll up. I still think they added padding in the right places.
Highflyer - 5/15/2014, 8:14 AM
I don't think it would make sense for Ben's aged Batman to be as ripped as Superman.
JordanKing - 5/15/2014, 8:15 AM
Also, his arms look half the size in these shots! (Not hating, still dig the suit).

The costume has padding in the abs area. It is so obvious.

Mrcool210 - 5/15/2014, 8:24 AM
HOLY SCHNIKES!!!! He's [frick]ing huge. Can't wait to see him in action
TheRationalNerd - 5/15/2014, 8:24 AM

I said the same But I guess the armor around his legs will add more girth to his legs and etc. He'd really look like the cartoon batman if hid legs were that small and his upper body were that big. lol

When you got the role in the summer of last year his personal trainer said the aim was to bulk him up only, they wanted a strong man type physique and it looks like they nailed it, but the training is not finished, both he and cavil will still hit the gym throughout the shoot of the movie to maintain the look
Dinotron - 5/15/2014, 8:27 AM
He def is a big guy! The suit adds the definition though as it should.
SuperCat - 5/15/2014, 8:28 AM
Lookin' like me.

mbembet - 5/15/2014, 8:29 AM

Gusto - 5/15/2014, 8:29 AM
He's a bar in the middle of the day.
Man, his stock keeps goin' up with me.
Dinotron - 5/15/2014, 8:30 AM
He has that big guy look, which is awesome!! While cavil has a more cut defined weigh lifters body, maybe to emphasized his Kryptonian genetics
CoulsonLives - 5/15/2014, 8:31 AM
I want Batman to re-enact the Batman TAS intro, that's what I want.
Send Zack Snyder this idea PLEASE!!! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY!

sameoldthing - 5/15/2014, 8:31 AM
Cavill looked more muscular in his shirtless scenes in MOS...Superman wins.
I would like some beard stubble on Batman...look more grizzled & tough.
SauraLilvera - 5/15/2014, 8:31 AM
Skipping leg day...not even once.
sKeemAn - 5/15/2014, 8:32 AM

Wow looking at that pic, he's got he perfect cartoon batman frame. lol!
Cles - 5/15/2014, 8:32 AM
Kudos to Ben for being able to still add decent size while in his 40's. I agree with the leg comments, but admit that a guy his height, build, and age might have too many knee/hip/ankle issues to attack the squat rack the way he would need to. I love what they did with the suit. It really compliments him.
maxleresistant - 5/15/2014, 8:32 AM
He's going to crush that role
cipher - 5/15/2014, 8:32 AM
So, yeah.. what's the word on the suit measurements? Specifically- the Bat-a-wang an' balls region? I want to know. I NEED to bloody know.

So does yoss. Right, man?
widdlewade - 5/15/2014, 8:33 AM
@JillyMcBeam that gif made me forget what I was going to say....for the next 3 days

how about some pix of Gadot's progress! That is what people want to see, for multiple reasons.
SoundWave - 5/15/2014, 8:34 AM
Beared Batman) That's good)
JosephKing - 5/15/2014, 8:34 AM
I think we're supposed to assume there's some kind of protection underneath the suit. Not literally, of course, but the padding is probably some bulletproof vest or something in the movie, almost some sort of basic "armor" (not robust like in the Nolan movies, though).

It's okay, you can leave me hanging.
