First Jason Momoa Interview After His AQUAMAN Role Is "Confirmed"

Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan) appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, making it his first interview since his Aquaman role was confirmed by the Hollywood trades. What exactly does Khal Drogo have to say about his Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice role?

Jason Momoa first Aquamn Batman vs Superman interview
Momoa is still trying to call the Aquqman news a rumor it seems. But when Jimmy Kimmel asks him a direct confirm or deny question, Momoa can only say, "That would be pretty exciting, wouldn't it. We'll have to wait and see".  So is Momoa Aquaman or is he not Aquaman?  If you recall, a similar situation played out with Momoa regarding the role of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy.  Due to an inability to come to terms on salary, the role went to WWE wrestler, Dave Bautista, despite Momoa being the first choice for the role.

Regardless of how this all shakes out, filming on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently underway.  The film stars Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg. Co-starring are Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Tao Okamoto and Callan Mulvey. The film is directed by Zack Snyder and will hit US theaters on May 6, 2016.

Just saw this and as much as I don't want to jump the gun on this, looking to the audience and asking "That would be pretty exciting, what do you think? We'll just have to wait and see" sounds like a terrible way to deny a rumour.
WB clearly wants to capitalize on the news themselves so he's obviously under some sort or contractual obligation to not confirm it himself until WB gives their official word on it (assuming he has the role).
So, just give us the damn press release WB already!
charlie2094 - 6/19/2014, 5:03 AM
I guess Warner's maybe wanted to save it for comic-con but I think they may as well just officially announce it already. Only so many times he can deny the same thing over and over :P Just let him say yes
Maven - 6/19/2014, 5:06 AM
As [frick]ing huge and intimidating this guy is next to Kimmel, this video makes me wanna hug the shit out of him. Soft voice too.

CraptainAmerica - 6/19/2014, 5:12 AM
It's gone on for so long that I couldn't give a toasted shite either way
Highflyer - 6/19/2014, 5:13 AM
Come on man, just admit it.
imaginejim - 6/19/2014, 5:13 AM
His role has not been CONFIRMED. Really wish some people on this site would learn the meaning of journalistic integrity. The title states that this is his first interview after his role is confirmed and then in the article you say "So is Momoa Aquaman or is he not Aquaman?"

If he was confirmed, you wouldn't have to ask that but since he isn't confirmed, you do. Have some integrity and stop saying he is confirmed until he is.

I always laugh at people saying "Superman's next movie is too crowded!!!". This isn't just a Superman movie, and it's not his second solo movie. This is a Superman/Batman team up movie, with a small role for Wonder Woman, and set up cameos for key league members, and villains. MoS can, and probably will happen. Some people choose to be willfully dense, so they can just hate easier. As for Momoa....he looks great for the more savage, long haired Aquaman. But I'd have preferred a blonde haired/blue eyed version, but I'll wait and see.
Klone - 6/19/2014, 5:13 AM
Dye his hair a dirty blonde (do we really need another black haired hero? Superman, Batman, WW...), give him a mix between the current look, the 90s look and Ocean King and make sure he isn't a stupid sea savage Drogo 2.0 and it should be decent.

While i would love to hear the offical words of him being aquaman (and quite frankly, i do think that based on all this talk, that just hasn't been offical), since Aquaman needs that kind of treatment Momoa could give him, so that general audience would not treat him as a joke no more, i would find this very ironic if this is still just a rumor and they have not cast him as Aquaman :P (nor cast Aquaman at all)
kong - 6/19/2014, 5:20 AM
I still believe he's in talks for the role. IDC what he says.
thescarletspeedzter - 6/19/2014, 5:24 AM
Yes he's AQUAMAN!
Zordan - 6/19/2014, 5:24 AM

Yeah this dude is playing AquaMan he is just dodging the questions, I am sure they will announce him at SDCC.
batmanvsuperman - 6/19/2014, 5:25 AM
I think he is now just confirm it already wb
MrAmeriBrit - 6/19/2014, 5:26 AM
He is hilarious
Vegeta - 6/19/2014, 5:27 AM
He's obviously playing Aquaman.
mgeoff88 - 6/19/2014, 5:28 AM
Even though him playing Aquaman is a done deal, he is not allowed to say anything until it's officially announced by Warner Bros.
Klone - 6/19/2014, 5:28 AM
omg rly
Pasto - 6/19/2014, 5:29 AM
He's not playing Aquaman, I am....
CherryBomb - 6/19/2014, 5:36 AM
Yeah, in no way has it been confirmed.
Until WB come out with a press release.

sinthegreat - 6/19/2014, 5:38 AM
They are clearly going for a Thor type character. I want a traditional Aquaman.
Moohika - 6/19/2014, 5:41 AM

Traditional as in Super Friends Aquaman? No Thanks! Give me badass New 52 Aquaman instead. Momoa can deliver that.
Lhornbk - 6/19/2014, 5:42 AM
@imaginejim and @CherryBomb, thank you. I keep making this point, the trades are NOT confirmation, so stop acting like they are. He's probably in talks for it, but at this point I hope the talks break down just to prove to a lot of people that the trades aren't always right.
Moohika - 6/19/2014, 5:48 AM

I think the trades are right this time because Momoa has been denying it like a motherf'er since the rumors started, but now that the cat is out of the bag, he could of set the record straight and denied being up for it but he didn't.
SuperCat - 6/19/2014, 5:50 AM
We need Aquaman more than ever.

jp688 - 6/19/2014, 5:56 AM
I guess "confirmed" doesn't mean confirmed anymore.
slickrickdesigns - 6/19/2014, 6:01 AM
Someone say Dolphin Rape? Looks kind of consensual.
MercwithMouth - 6/19/2014, 6:01 AM
Momoa's great. Looking forward to see what Synder and Terrio give him to work with.
MercwithMouth - 6/19/2014, 6:03 AM

Well now, that's just wrong...
cmay13 - 6/19/2014, 6:07 AM
This guy is awesome.
sameoldthing - 6/19/2014, 6:08 AM
I think if he is indeed Aquaman...adding some blonde highlights to his hair makes sense.
As both an underwater & surface dweller,he will be both below & above the seas..the sun bleached highlights would be good.

Want to see a cool fish scale armor look for him too.
It's crazy how much he could be Marvel's Namor with little work but to make him look like Aquaman will take some doing.
TheGreenBastard - 6/19/2014, 6:08 AM
Carter: I disagree. I like the title, but would have had it Superman/Batman: Dawn of Justice, and drop the versus. Snyder expressed interest in doing a Dark Knight Returns adaptation a while ago, and it's seems he's getting to do it. Personally I think Superman/Batman: World's Finest would have been fine.
TheGreenBastard - 6/19/2014, 6:09 AM
Maybe dye his hair a sandy dirty blonde, but not dying it would be fine too.
GUNSMITH - 6/19/2014, 6:09 AM
MsDarkPhoenix - 6/19/2014, 6:09 AM
Is this confirmed?? What did I miss???
