Marvel: 1, DC: 0? New Report Claims That WB Are Moving BATMAN VS SUPERMAN To April

Marvel: 1, DC: 0? New Report Claims That WB Are Moving BATMAN VS SUPERMAN To April

Warner Bros. Brazil have reportedly confirmed that they will be releasing Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman in the South American country on April 28th, and the new plan in the US is to debut the movie there a week before Marvel's untitled 2016 release on the 29th! Read on for details...

Brazilian website Judão (via HeyUGuys) are claiming to have heard from their sources at Warner Bros. Brazil that Batman Vs. Superman will be released there on April 28th. Yes, that's a Thursday, but movies do actually hit theatres there on that day of the week. However, most interesting is the fact that they go on to reveal that the studio has also told them that the plan is for the Zack Snyder helmed movie to also debut in the US a week early on April 29th; seven days before the release of Marvel's Untitled 2016 Movie on May 6th. They do stress that this hasn't been 100% confirmed, but the fact that the information has come from directly the studio may be very telling and certainly adds some legitimacy to the report. Ultimately, this makes sense. By going up against each other, neither movie would truly win. At least now, Batman Vs. Superman gets a solid week at #1, while Marvel's movie (quite possible a new property like Doctor Strange) stands a great chance of also doing well. Are Warner Bros. hoping that grateful fans who are happy to get the the movie a week early will ignore the fact they've backed down? We'll have to wait for official confirmation...

I dont understand some of what was written here but ....damn...D.C. is just so reactive to Marvel. They just need to make their own plan and do it their way and just do it. It's like they're biting off more than they can chew.
jlabatman - 3/13/2014, 10:08 AM
No balls!
McNyagano - 3/13/2014, 10:11 AM
Come on guys, Batman vs Superman will still make a shit load of money regardless of what time of the year it's released. This is good news if it's true, the whole releasing it the same day as the Marvel film was just a bad move on their part. It's a win for both DC and Marvel imo.
Blanka1212 - 3/13/2014, 10:11 AM
Aren't these the same assholes that claimed that the movie was pushed back due to Ben Affleck no longer being Batman? Come on.
Pasto - 3/13/2014, 10:11 AM
I agree. But the title is whats getting me.
themidnightking - 3/13/2014, 10:12 AM
Would both sides win/lose if Batman vs Superman gets pushed forward a week?
DraculaX - 3/13/2014, 10:13 AM
"Marvel:1, DC:0"

Its a Josh Wilding article.

A week earlier= win for both of us.
ALmazing - 3/13/2014, 10:13 AM

I'm lookin' forward to the flame wars we'll get that year. It'll be like back in the summer of '12 when I first signed up. We can really get some good drinking games going. 'Cept we'll have to come up with some rules here..

I mean, if we knock one back EVERY time some bloke says "WINNING" we'll all be f*cking dead within the hour.
Pasto - 3/13/2014, 10:14 AM

CommanderShepard - 3/13/2014, 10:15 AM
So were supposed to believe a Brazilian behind the scenes source? I will wait till I hear it from someone credible. However, at least they are moving it up, and not backwards if true!
Batman52 - 3/13/2014, 10:16 AM
This is actually good news I thought the movie was probably gonna move around mid-summer, but this is good news for everybody. Right now people are mocking DC for backing out, but what would be funny is if in it's 2nd week it'll still be number one I don't know that it will, but it would be funny. Good for DC being the bigger company.

NovaCorpsFan - 3/13/2014, 10:22 AM
This sorta reminds me of that satire article I wrote waaaaay back. I miss being witty...
SpiderFraud - 3/13/2014, 10:23 AM
I was planning on seeing both movies on the same day anyway (Whatever Marvel movie it is). At least this helps me not pick which one to see first.
Scarilian - 3/13/2014, 10:23 AM
So not only are they moving forward a movie they haven't even got a proper script for - but they are also placing it a week before a marvel film...

This film is going to be delightfully shit + no one will watch it because whatever Marvel film is out will take over from them after their first week.
Pasto - 3/13/2014, 10:23 AM
You were witty, Nova?
sKeemAn - 3/13/2014, 10:24 AM
I was actually hoping they would go head up. Even though DC mightve won the battle, they would've lost financially.
facelaser - 3/13/2014, 10:24 AM
Oh thank goodness. Why are you framing this as a competition? WB is just being smart. They were being foolish by choosing the May date in the first place since Disney had it first. This will be good fire the profits of both companies. This isn't a competition, nerds. This is about making as much money as possible regardless.
