VFX Supervisor John Desjardin Promises "Iconic" Imagery In BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

VFX Supervisor John Desjardin worked with Zack Snyder on Watchmen and Man of Steel, and he talks here about the director's vision for a version of Batman "that nobody has seen on screen yet", as well as "some iconic representations" of him and Superman in the sequel. Check it out!

As you might expect, Zack Snyder is preparing to make the dreams of comic book fans come true when the world's two biggest superheroes finally stand side by side on the big screen in 2015. Talking to Bleeding Cool, VFX Supervisor John Desjardin shared his thoughts on the director's vision for Batman Vs. Superman, and like Ben Affleck earlier today, he clearly has high hopes for the movie! Be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page to read the full interview.

"I was working on Batman-Superman right before this interview, a lengthy discussion with Zack looking at a bunch of drawings he’d made on his whiteboard that charted some iconic representations of… well, of things we’re going to have to try and do. Zack told me two weeks before Comic Con exactly how he was going to present the Batman announcement, and it was exactly the way he did present it. I got chills up my spine. What I want to get out of this movie is helping Zack tell a satisfying version of these characters, a version that nobody has seen on screen yet, but when audiences watch it they’re going to say “That’s what we always wanted to see but we hadn’t seen it yet.” Touch wood, because we have a long way to go, but the course is charted and we’re set to bring those ideas onto the screen, that something we haven’t seen before."

You will never know. There might be a possibility that Man of Steel sequel will be better than Avengers: Age of Ultron, story wise and also box office wise.
JoeMomma29 - 12/3/2013, 11:35 AM
@ JasonBourne

I am not sure about that, this might be something we have never seen before at all.
Nick56 - 12/3/2013, 11:36 AM
The more I hear the more excited I get! Easily my most anticipated of 2015 with SW 7 in a close 2nd
DarkGrifter - 12/3/2013, 11:37 AM
If there's one thing this movie's gonna have; it's iconic imagery.
Pasto - 12/3/2013, 11:37 AM
"Off-Off with your head.

Da-Dance till you're dead.

Heads will roll.

Heads will roll.

Heads will role...on the floor."
SuperCat - 12/3/2013, 11:37 AM
Didn't let me down in MoS, so I have faith in him.
Brainiac13 - 12/3/2013, 11:39 AM
Best movie of 2015......handz down.
ManofSteel23 - 12/3/2013, 11:39 AM
Still cant get over we are actually getting these two in one film
charlie2094 - 12/3/2013, 11:40 AM
Super excited about this! 2015 is going to be great for CBM's but honestly, seeing Batman and Superman duke it out and probably team up on the big screen is by far my most anticipated...they're not just relatively known amongst comic fans, these are two hugely popular, widely recognised characters going toe to toe, and with Snyder directing it, it's going to look stunning as well

With Ultron and then this, going to be big for comic movies! Two films guaranteed to do at least a billion, both will be huge! :D
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 11:41 AM
I would also give this film the edge over 'Age of Ultron' due to the fact that this is an EVENT film
First time EVER both iconic heroes in the same film

Fantastic! Another nail in the coffin for the "grounded, Nolanized copycat Batman" theory.

smh lol
VISIONaryNPa - 12/3/2013, 11:43 AM
lol RIGHTTTTTTTTTTT, that was they said about the "Revolutionary" visuals in Man of Steel. LOL no, no. not even.
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 11:43 AM
respect your opinion and in fact you might be right
but why do you say Age of Ultron over BvS?
ALmazing - 12/3/2013, 11:44 AM
I have no doubt this movie is going to look great, my concern is with Goyer writting and Snyder directing.
Nomis - 12/3/2013, 11:47 AM
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 11:47 AM

I predict BvS 1.5 Billion
Age of Ultron 1.2 Billion
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 11:48 AM
Yeah you almost forget that this is just the appetizer to the FEAST that will be Justice League in 2017
Brainiac13 - 12/3/2013, 11:50 AM

Agree :)
GinjaNinja - 12/3/2013, 11:51 AM
Age of Ultron will make close to 1.8 billion. BvS will make probably 1.2 bill. But lets be honest people may not enjoy the darkness as MoS was showing that.
Kang - 12/3/2013, 11:51 AM
If you think the tone is going to shift from the serious tone in the Man Of Steel to a lighthearted tone for Batman vs Superman, you have got another thing coming.
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 11:51 AM
We as comicbookmovie junkies should rejoice in the fact that we can debate which movie will be bigger in
Age of Ultron or Batman v. Superman
Dr. Strange or The Flash
Justice League or Guardians of the Galaxy War of Kings
Brainiac13 - 12/3/2013, 11:52 AM

I was about to say that I miss your predictions.
MarvelWeiner - 12/3/2013, 11:54 AM
GinjaNinja - 12/3/2013, 11:56 AM
here's the problem. The general audience does nothing but talk trash on the DC films. Everyone I know that isn't a CB fan hates on MoS. TDK was good but other then that I havn't heard good about DC stuff. So hopefully this breaks that mold. otherwise we will get another poor BO showing like MoS (Not horrid but it should have done about 800 million)
ALegendaryPanda - 12/3/2013, 11:57 AM
2015 will be a legendary year! I think I might actually just live somewhere inside the theater until the summer is over
JoeMomma29 - 12/3/2013, 12:00 PM
@ Dougie

All people will care about is knowing that Batman and Superman will be on the screen together. They will not give two craps about MOS!
Enphlieuwince - 12/3/2013, 12:01 PM
@Batmaniac, nobody said the tone was going to be lighter; let's be clear. I don't have a problem with the darker DC tone of TDK trilogy or MoS. I am one of he MoS supporters actually. I really enjoyed BB and the TDK.

What I'm saying is we are NOT going to get a run of the mill tough guy in a batsuit like Nolan gave us. He will be more like the comic book version than drowned in realism.
NOLANITE - 12/3/2013, 12:01 PM
El mayimbe is at it again. Started a tweet about the title of the flick. Standby for major flame war.
thebearjew - 12/3/2013, 12:01 PM
why are there quotes in everything now-a-days is everyone that damn snarky n sarcastic?
Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 12:02 PM
and the funny thing about 2015 is that Fox has Fantastic Four coming out and no one seems to care I think Antman might do better then F4
SaxoWolf - 12/3/2013, 12:03 PM
Iconic imagery?

Omarvls - 12/3/2013, 12:04 PM
Batman v. Superman is a guaranteed 1 billion + film and whoever says no has no idea on the EVENT that it will be
GinjaNinja - 12/3/2013, 12:04 PM
A:AoU 1.8 billion
BvS 1.5 Billion
SW7 1.2 Billion

Star wars still has a bad taste in our mouths after the last few films. BvS doesn't have the hype that AoU has.
McNyagano - 12/3/2013, 12:08 PM
Cool news!! However, I don't think Bats vs Supes will outgross the sequel to a 1.5 billion dollar movie. I can bet on that. A:AOU will make more than the first film. I'm sure of that.

Anyways, I'm remaining optimistic about this film. Wasn't at all pleased by MOS. We'll see in 2015.
AztecaAguilar04 - 12/3/2013, 12:09 PM
Damn DC news has been dominating this website as of late! I can't wait for these two icons to share the screen, It's my most anticipated film of 2015!
Enphlieuwince - 12/3/2013, 12:14 PM
Um, can we get a CBM BO prediction page going, please? Because, I would love to have all these enthusiastic claims logged for future reference.
Nubase - 12/3/2013, 12:14 PM

l think your wrong, the fact that the whole world knows that a a movie that will have superman and batman in it will come out in 2015, when the annoucement was made it made headline news around the world, it was in every newspaper, on the internet, on twitter, facebook, it was a promotional marketing dream come true for the people makig this movie.

Then the shock casting of ben affleck as batman which shocked the world again!, headline news around the world and even the president obama was brought into it cos some peeps did not want him as batman.

The awareness is there, it hyped up to the max and it and it has to deliver now.

MOS did what it had to do, it was the movie to put superman in the 21st century and also to create the DC universe around him, it was his origin tale.

As for avengers 2, the fans are aware of it but ask any general member of the public now about the movie who are not comic book fans they will not even know whos in it or who ultron even is.

But don't get me wrong, avenger 2 will be a box office smash, and it will be a great movie but supes/batman will be a iconic movie cos its the first time they will be on screen. Avengers 1 was iconic cos it was the first time the members were on screen.

l'm looking forward to both but more excited for the bats/supe movie.
McNyagano - 12/3/2013, 12:18 PM
