BLACK PANTHER: John Boyega Says He's Booking A Flight To Wakanda

Is actor John Boyega, breakout star of Attack the Block and lead in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII set to play Black Panther for Marvel Studios? Check out the hint from Boyega himself after the jump.

Previously, actor Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed Jackie Robinson and James Brown in breakout performances, was linked to the role of Black Panther. However, it appears that John Boyega wants to throw his hat into the ring of potential casting choices. With Marvel's SDCC panel just a few, short days away, is Boyega having a layover in San Diego first before stopping at Wakanda?

Other actors speculated for the role in the past include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Morris Chestnut, Mehcad Brooks and Aldis Hodge. If Boyega doesn't strike your fancy, who would you like to see as the leader of Wakanda?

There is a chance that he's just trolling everybody, so you know calm down
Doopie - 7/23/2014, 5:12 AM
nothing against John but I'd like an older BP - somewhere around 30-35, a full grown man
YeezusWept - 7/23/2014, 5:14 AM
He's just messing around. Don't get your panties in a bunch, people.
SuperCat - 7/23/2014, 5:18 AM
My first choice for the Black Panther!
MrCBM56 - 7/23/2014, 5:18 AM

SuperCat - 7/23/2014, 5:21 AM
Make it happen!

RextheKing - 7/23/2014, 5:22 AM
Tell me I wasn't the only one who saw this yesterday. I can't remember what article it was on but it was just floating there, and I was like what the hell is this? Nobody made an article about it yesterday so I thought I was crazy, but maybe not.
MrCBM56 - 7/23/2014, 5:23 AM
@RextheKing There was an article, must've got deleted.

UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:26 AM

I'm at the point, I don't care who plays him, just make the [frick]ing movie!
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:29 AM
Depending on his role I would doubt he'd have time for Marvel AND Star Wars. From what I hear his role in Episode 7 is major though.
ndwwrestler2 - 7/23/2014, 5:29 AM
I don't mind a young Black Panther, especially if it means that it's someone who can pull off the role for the next 10-20 years (depending on the contract).
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:32 AM
Yeah I doubt this is real. I loved Attack the Block (seen it when it first came out) and loved him being cast in Star Wars but I have a hard time believing this is true.
ckal - 7/23/2014, 5:32 AM
Where is that Michael Scott Nooo clip when you need it?

SO much no. Yes T'Challa should be a grown MAN in his 30's...and look like it.
McNyagano - 7/23/2014, 5:32 AM
He's pulling a Vin Diesel here lol Chadwick Boseman or GTFO. This kid is too young imo.
RextheKing - 7/23/2014, 5:33 AM
@MRCBM only thing, I saw on an article that wasn't relates to the issue, unless you're talking about that same article.
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:33 AM
Oh and did I mention my shameless self-promotion?

Personally I like Michael Jai White for the role if they are going with a middle aged BP.
Nubase - 7/23/2014, 5:36 AM
Not true..he has signed his life away to Star Wars, he life is going to change real soon and his life will be star wars
LuisFcknLorenzo - 7/23/2014, 5:39 AM
He's is trolling, he has a big rol in star wars xD
Reclaimer - 7/23/2014, 5:42 AM
Marvel should just bring back Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. It's not like anyone recognized him in Thor.
thatiscrazy - 7/23/2014, 5:42 AM
Last i checked there was more then just 1 black person in Wakanda. For the slow people this means that there will probably be at least several black people in the movie. So I seriously doubt he will be BP. could be a reporter for all we know lol. Also, this may be for a small role in AOU cause from what i understand there will be scenes in Africa... and im assuming wakanda, even if BP isnt in AOU, doesn't mean we wont see Wakanda. he also could be a flash back character.. .who knows. I guess we should all jump to conclusion.
CherryBomb - 7/23/2014, 5:43 AM
Of course he's messing us around'
It's a joke, it's obvious.

Even if he was up for it or did he even get it you think Marvel would miss this opportunity to make a huge public announcement?
Alphaman06 - 7/23/2014, 5:43 AM
They honestly need to cast an unknown actor from Africa
CherryBomb - 7/23/2014, 5:43 AM
But yeah, with Star Wars he has no hope of joining another franchise.
knocturnalzen10 - 7/23/2014, 5:45 AM
yea way too young but just want bp on screen soon .....................
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:47 AM
@thatiscrazy has a good point. He could be playing a young flashback BP or a background character for all we know.
Mastyrwerk - 7/23/2014, 5:49 AM
There's always the possibility he's playing another character from Wakanda.

Or he's playing a character visiting Wakanda.
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:52 AM
@MrMartinMarvel There most likely is. Kevin Feige says he cant be "swayed" but he always seems to give us comic book fans what we want to see if we complain enough. Interesting Kevin, very interesting...
DEATHSTR0KE - 7/23/2014, 5:54 AM
@Gandhi...Ryan Gosling? Black Panther? You need to eat something your blood pressure must be low.
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:56 AM
@dio I loved everyone in Attack the Block but hey whatever...
Tetrahedron - 7/23/2014, 5:58 AM

NO! Don't [frick] this up Marvel. Your casting has been slipping of late, first Pretty Paul Rudd for Ant Man and then Hipster Jesus Jared Leto for Dr.Strange and now a 22 year old as Black Panther? Hell to the please no!
UltimateCookie - 7/23/2014, 5:59 AM
@Tetrahedron Leto is not playing Strange unless I missed something...
Havensent - 7/23/2014, 6:00 AM
Dude is way too young for BP. We need someone with a little more age and honestly, more size.
slickrickdesigns - 7/23/2014, 6:00 AM
I would rather see this dude as Panther.
