Wakanda Bound? Chadwick Boseman Mentions 'Contracts' While Again Playing Coy About BLACK PANTHER Casting

The actor, who has been rumored to be in talks with Marvel Studios to play the titular character in a Black Panther film may have just given the first concrete evidence that talks with the studio have not only occurred, they've gotten serious.

Chadwick Boseman was first rumored to be in talks for the role of the Black Panther as far back as March, 2013. Since then, when questioned about the role he's reffered to as "...not out of the question", a "rumor", and even stated it is something he's unwilling to discuss. Most answers have been given through a huge grin or a full on nervous laugh

While talking to radio personality Charlemaigne Tha God during promotions for his new James Brown biopic 'Get On Up', Boseman came as close to confirming talks with Marvel Studios as he ever has in the past.

'Charlamagne asked him if there was truth to the rumor that he would be cast as the T'Challa in Marvel's rumored "Black Panther" movie. Through a wide grin, changing his position, he replied, "Ahhh, I don't know anything about that... Until the contract is signed, I don't know."'

So while he does not come right out and say it, he gives a fairly clear indication that at the very least conversations are definitely being had. Whether or not those conversations have progressed to the point of a contract being drawn up remains to be seen, but at the very least we can be sure that progress is being made on the film.

What do you guys think of Chadwick Boseman as The Black Panther?

After Guardians, I trust Marvel with anything, really. It appears Marvel hasn't made a BAD movie, yet. So I think they'll keep it ip...`

BaneSmash - 8/2/2014, 2:47 PM
Great actor! I don't know anything about BP but I'm sure he will be awesome.
BaneSmash - 8/2/2014, 2:49 PM
Yes they have, IM2,3 and Thor 2......... horrible movies.
Desrow - 8/2/2014, 2:49 PM
If Marvel pick this guy would be awesome, the best candidate so far.
Sipprelle - 8/2/2014, 2:50 PM
@BatManEisenberg Same. I thought Guardians was pretty good, so I have a lot more confidence in their further, less grounded projects as well.
Sipprelle - 8/2/2014, 2:50 PM
And damn, this guy's probably the best candidate.
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 2:51 PM
i hope they annouce a Black Panther movie soon

BatmanHeisenberg- they certainly havent made one i have competely disliked..my least favorite of theirs is IM2 and its ok imo..i am concerned but i have faith for Ant Man ..i really like what i ma hearing about the film..i still cant fricking get over it being a superhero heist film..that sounds really friggin cool..hopefully its a good film and Avengers:AOU is gonna be great (hopefully)
PymParticle - 8/2/2014, 2:51 PM
Lol, "until the contract is signed".

Is he any good? He's not giving me any T'Challa vibes
PymParticle - 8/2/2014, 2:52 PM
@BatManHeisenberg You mean no bad movies like Iron Man 3 and Thor:TDW?
PymParticle - 8/2/2014, 2:52 PM
@BaneSmash Iron Man 2 got alot better for me after seeing 3. We were spoiled with Favreau.
SageMode - 8/2/2014, 2:53 PM

Charlemagne tha God? I can't roll my eyes hard enough.
GliderMan - 8/2/2014, 2:57 PM
He's a great actor, I think he'd make a fine Black Panther. Can't wait to see his new movie.
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 2:57 PM
my only complaints with IM3 is that i do think the humor goes a little overboard and some things could have have been fleshed out better but i really like everything else(yes, even the twist)..i think TDW is good, just good, i like all the character moments and interactions between frigga and loki, odin and thor, etc.. i like the humor from thor and loki, the action is well done, Loki and Thors relatioship is well done but a weak villain in Malekith and the annoying, lame and unfunny side human characters drag it down for me
PymParticle - 8/2/2014, 2:57 PM
It would be the biggest missed opportunity EVER if we get Ultron, a fight scene in Africa, and Marvel somehow don't manage to incorporate Wakanda/Panther.
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 2:57 PM
i hope he gets signed for it..he is great!!
TheGambitFreak - 8/2/2014, 2:58 PM
Ehhhh. I think he was just talking. People will take this out of proportion. I'm sure there have been discussions and all but this guy is just answering the question. He's most likely in the same stage as Damion Poitier as far as talks. They're just floating around characters, nothing set in stone. Like Vin Diesel said, they give you a list of characters and see which fits best. I personally think Poitier would fit the role better. He's bigger, has a deeper, more commanding voice and presence. Plus, it helps he's an actual fan. He keeps up with current pop culture and what not. But I don't really care, just as long as we get Poitier in a future movie and a BP movie down the line.
AstonishingArachnid - 8/2/2014, 3:00 PM
With Marvel you can kind of tell who's going to be cast in a role. If they campaign the hell out of it they most probably won't get the role. If they play coy and deny the rumours they're most propably in talks for a role.
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 3:03 PM
also came back from Guardians about an hour or so ago..i have one question: DID U GUYS GET MY DICK MESSAGE?.. anyway LOVED IT.. it was hilarious, touching ,filled with great characters and beautiful visuals.. while Ronan and Nebula werent as developed as i would have liked..i still liked them..Ronans motivation was that he was pissed that after all the years of war and his father and his father's fathers sacrifices.. they just sign a peace treaty.. he was a Kree Fanatic..i liked him though i wish they didnt kill him off.. Nebula was good too.i liked her backstory with Gamora..the humor flowed well with the drama..it was pretty much seamless imo.. the performances were great and Brolin sounded Great as Thanos and imo he looked great too
Omarvls - 8/2/2014, 3:04 PM
After Guardians of the Galaxy EPIC success

I Saw IM 3 times in theaters and GOTG 2 already! This 2 Marvel movies are the only multiple viewings. I might see it again :)
EhMaybeSays - 8/2/2014, 3:07 PM
He's BP, at least they snagged a decent actor for the role, I'm not sure how well Boseman does comedy though.
Omarvls - 8/2/2014, 3:08 PM
I wonder how Marvel will translate his vibranium black battle armor on film
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 3:09 PM
Marvel.. i love that u are giving me Iron Fist and Daredevil on Netflix but can i have Black Panther now too.. thank you
Spideysense44 - 8/2/2014, 3:12 PM
Luke Cage and Black Panther are gonna be badass
SuperCat - 8/2/2014, 3:14 PM

SuperCat - 8/2/2014, 3:19 PM

McNyagano - 8/2/2014, 3:23 PM
I'm ready! Let's hope he's cast as T'Challa!
KurtWagner1225 - 8/2/2014, 3:24 PM
also Boseman is a good age for it..i think he is 32
BatmanHeisenberg - 8/2/2014, 3:25 PM

EISENBERG?? People are STILL mad about Cranston not getting Lex Luthor, damn. Lol, I kid. But I agree.

I was really quite suprised by Guardians. And I thought IM2 was good, just the worst in the MCU. But I am quite excited for Ant-Man. I like the cast, and Adam Mckay is [frick]ing awesome. So count me in.

I really liked TDW, quite enjoyable, and IM3, despite my dislike for the Mandarin twist and the kid and basically the whole 2nd act, I liked the 1st and 2nd acts quite well. So no, again, I like all the movies in the MCU.

Yeah, though BP isn't my favorite, I do like him. Excited to see what they do and how old they make T'Challa, and how Wakanda looks. Chadwick looks like a great choice for BP.
Spideysense44 - 8/2/2014, 3:26 PM
Black Panther will probably be called Panther bc you know...hopefully they don't do that though
SuperCat - 8/2/2014, 3:27 PM
Omarvls - 8/2/2014, 3:28 PM

Cool photo

Now imagine how Epic Marvel is going to make him

Bring on the KING!!!
RexDartEskimoSpy - 8/2/2014, 3:29 PM
Clearly Benedict Cumberbatch would be a perfect T'Challa, but they'll probably cast an American.
