Wesley Snipes Shares His Thoughts On A Possible BLADE IV Movie

Wesley Snipes (who will next be seen in The Expendables 3) reveals that he would like to make a return as Blade in a fourth movie and says that he believes that there should be more African American superheroes on the big screen. Hit the jump to check it out...

After the extremely disappointing Blade: Trinity, the franchise pretty much died out (something which wasn't helped by star Wesley Snipes spending some time behind bars). Marvel Studios regained the rights a few years back as a result, but Snipes - who is part of The Expendables 3 cast - told MTV News at this weekend's Comic-Con that he would like to jump back into the role given the chance. "I'd be open to it. I think we've got some stones left unturned and there's some latitude left for us to build on and I'd love to get back in the suit again and do some things I've learned how to do now that I didn't know how to do then. I think we're better at making that kind of a film now. Some of the things we did in the early parts of the franchise were experimental and now they've become customary in a lot of the Avengers films and other comic book adaptations." In a separate interview with EW, the actor added: "Blade chasing the Twilight kids around? Hey man, there's always a possibility, and I'm open to it. There have been rumours around that we may explore the opportunity, so give me one more shot!" How would you guys feel about Snipes making a return as Blade? Sound off with your thoughts below!

I guess he doesn't know that the rights have reverted back to marvel.

I am indifferent to this news.

Wesley killed it as Blade, I honestly can't imagine anyone else in the role.

@DrunkenNukem

We could still get a Blade netflix series.
shaddowkhan - 7/26/2014, 6:08 AM
Blade 1 AND 2 WERE GREAT CBMs BEFORE RAIMI'S SPIDER-MAN
antman8o8 - 7/26/2014, 6:10 AM
It could be good but I don't think it could be a part of the MCU.

I could see this being a Netflix series down the road along with the Punisher, Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight.
marvel72 - 7/26/2014, 6:15 AM
personally i'd like to see blade rebooted & part of the marvel cinematic universe or the start of a marvel knights universe.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/26/2014, 6:17 AM
Would love to see this with the Netflix series as well. It would be cool.

Also, Blade just showed up in the Mighty Avengers series, so that's cool.

I hope he gets his own title soon.

Blade II is the best CBM of all time!

I would kill to see Snipes back in the black leather, he was probably the best CBM casting ever, completely embodied the character. Gimme more!
ATrueHero1987 - 7/26/2014, 6:19 AM
I would love to see Blade on the big screen again.

Expendables 3 was surprisingly fun from start to finish!

Nice to hear this again....

Blade 1&2 were da sheeeeeit!
grif - 7/26/2014, 6:25 AM
all this love for blade 2 confuses me. its a great action film but as a whole its not the best one. anything in the movie other than the action seemed like filler and boring. the first movie is the best.
yinyangpalms - 7/26/2014, 6:26 AM
By the way Snipes was pretty damn cool in Expendables 3. Everyone kicked ass!
Nubase - 7/26/2014, 6:27 AM
snipes is blade, there is no one else that can play blade period
Enphlieuwince - 7/26/2014, 6:29 AM
The unsung godfather of the CBM golden age wants another shot? Phuck yeah they should let this man back at it. I would love another Blade trilogy. I do believe that Snipes could do it again given the chance.
ckal - 7/26/2014, 6:30 AM
Snipes was perfect casting for Blade. Like RDJ as Tony Stark perfect.
ManDeth - 7/26/2014, 6:33 AM
CBMs have changed very much since Blade. That movie would have a hard time finding an audience in today's CG movie market. And vampires have been repeatedly raped by Twilight, Vampire Diaries, True Blood and other crap.

In 2014 vampires are as uncool as piss flavored Pepsi.

Too much against Blade I think.
omnipotent18 - 7/26/2014, 6:35 AM
The spike tv version was the shit. Even better than the movies at some points.
YoungThanos - 7/26/2014, 6:45 AM
I'd give it a chance.
pepe - 7/26/2014, 6:48 AM
Was'nt he married to that actress dat plays Storm.... And he bit her up big time.... Storms a vampire
mgeoff88 - 7/26/2014, 6:50 AM
I would love to see Wesley Snipes play Blade again. After the third movie though, the franchise needs to be rebooted.

He could come back and star in the reboot.
Alfredo27 - 7/26/2014, 6:53 AM
DO IT NOW MARVEL!!!

They wont though because they'd rather do a reboot with some black english hack who cant do action.
YogaHoser - 7/26/2014, 6:56 AM
Marvel Studios might give him a Stan Lee type of cameo, but they will cast younger blood (pun intended) for Blade.
Inhuman - 7/26/2014, 6:56 AM
Give him props, he's the originator of the marvel comic book movie renaissance.... that being said, he doesnt know that blade is gonna be rebooted and joined into the MCU someday. Blade 4 would be dope though before the MCU existed =/
Juicy321321 - 7/26/2014, 6:56 AM
just make it marvel knights, they did it with GR.
blackula - 7/26/2014, 7:00 AM
Blade 1 was way better than 2 and I liked 2 a lot, but to me Blade 1 is a top 10 CBM. They should reboot, or maybe even add 4 into the MCU, why not? Blade is a Marvel property and I am sure they can make it work.
SuperCat - 7/26/2014, 7:08 AM
Love the first 2 Blade films but I think it's time for new blood. Cast someone younger.
Null - 7/26/2014, 7:25 AM
Blade was a good series. The third was a let down but it wasn't because of him. The other two dragged it down for me. I wish they would have left them out and let Blade go at it alone. If it is anything like Blade 2 then DO IT!
TheBrotherhood - 7/26/2014, 7:27 AM
Snipes is a beast in the Blade series! But for me, let's re-cast Blade, if there's a fountain of youth for Snipes then do it but in all honesty, re-cast him.
PeterDarker121 - 7/26/2014, 7:34 AM
I'm digging all the love for Snipes as Blade on this thread...I see NO reason Snipes why couldn't play a more mature version of the character within the next 5 years or so. It's not like he's gotten sloppy WEIGHT-wise over the years. He could get 'Blade-Buff' again.

My man's paid his debts to society (and the IRS)!!! Let's get him back to the role he was born to play while there's still time, Marvel!!

And yeah, The first Blade is a CLASSIC and if it were an MCU film, I'd rank it ABOVE every single one except The Avengers, Iron Man, TWSoldier (and GOTG if it lives up to it's hype with me).
mgeoff88 - 7/26/2014, 7:37 AM
@DrunkenNukem They should release the movie using the Marvel Knights logo:

Disney shouldn't have a problem with Marvel Studios releasing R-rated movies using a logo that is associated with adult themed comics.
eleven59 - 7/26/2014, 7:38 AM
I like that idea of a marvel knights universe.... Still set in the MCU, but you wouldn't have to really stress that with anything more than perhaps a name drop here and there. That way, they can feel separate, but you can still bring them in to the MCU for a civil war or infinity gauntlet showdown...

Perhaps make it the independent branch, or one shots, or another netflix series...
dapug88 - 7/26/2014, 7:38 AM
Reboot it, get someone else to play blade but use snipes as a mentor of sorts.
