Not bad considering the fact that it initially looked like the Marvel Studios sequel would only hold the top spot for a single week, eh? Despite competition from The Other Woman, Captain America: The Winter Soldier does indeed look set to stay at #1. Read on for details!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will take the top spot next weekend, but for now, another superhero sequel is dominating the North American box office. Despite the fact that The Other Woman (starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, and Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is opening today, Entertainment Weekly believes that the romantic comedy will earn only around $13 million this weekend. Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the other hand is set to earn around $15 million over the next few days, and while it's possible that these numbers will alter slightly depending on word of mouth and the like, the fact that the Marvel Studios sequel will more than likely have a fourth straight week at #1 could mean that they reconsider moving Captain America 3's release date from its current May 6th, 2016 slot (and away from Batman Vs. Superman) to an April slot in which it can find a similar level of success.

Good for Cap!
FightAs0ne - 4/25/2014, 3:56 AM
Cap kicking ass foot a whole month. Deserves all of it. April has been weak, especially Haunted House 2. That movie was some bullshit. Go Cap!!
BlanketMan - 4/25/2014, 4:01 AM
Now they've jinxed Cap! The last two weeks, forecasters predicted he'd finish 2nd, and he pulled the upset both weeks. I don't like these tea-leaf-readers saying Cap's going to top the charts again. They really won't have any idea until late Friday evening, at the earliest.
ProfessorX - 4/25/2014, 4:03 AM
Marvel's last four films have made a combined total of 4 billion $ (!) at the BO. FOUR BILLION! That's just... Wow.
Luminus - 4/25/2014, 4:05 AM

ProfessorX - 4/25/2014, 4:06 AM
And that's like 3.2 billion profit, as the films only cost 200M $ to make.
mgeoff88 - 4/25/2014, 4:06 AM
Not surprised at all. Such an awesome movie!

@DIAMONDZ Same here. Her boobs are amazing. If they ever adapt Baywatch to the big screen, she needs to be cast as a lifeguard.
loki668 - 4/25/2014, 4:07 AM
Okay, I expected (and wanted) this film to do well but 4 weeks in the top slot exceeds my expectations. Money be damned, this film has earned its praise.
loki668 - 4/25/2014, 4:08 AM
Speaking of DAMN!!

Kate Upton can be my "Lorelei" ANYTIME!! Giggity!!!
Brainiac13 - 4/25/2014, 4:09 AM

If it does 700m+ is likely. Best Marvel Movie along with IM1. :)
charlie2094 - 4/25/2014, 4:20 AM
That'd be impressive! Was just reading on BoxOfficeMojo that it would be fourth. Be great if it stays number one! Make as much as it can before TASM2 opens!

Will probably take over Iron Man 2 and Thor 2 by the end of this weekend, hopefully it can hit $700m, deserves it

CrimsonFlash - 4/25/2014, 4:23 AM
So much good going on in this thread haha at any rate i'll be finally seeing it a second time this weekend!!
Kyos - 4/25/2014, 4:23 AM

MrBatmor - 4/25/2014, 4:29 AM
This thread is the best one ever!!

And yeah cap deserves it... This shows that a movie being good matters and not just the brand value...
Gibman - 4/25/2014, 4:32 AM
Hold on........ Did Grif just say something positive?!?!?
Nabz - 4/25/2014, 4:35 AM
Yayy, I hope it stays #1 for the 4th week, it really deserves all the success it's getting, it was a amazing movie, go cap
macfint - 4/25/2014, 4:40 AM
Kate Upton is pretty.
YoungThanos - 4/25/2014, 4:42 AM
That's how it's done FOX! Going on four weeks in row and from the least expected Avenger.

Yet after the first weekend DOFP is a wrap! Maleficent is going to knock that down real quick...Thus continuing Disney's win streak!

Sure it's set to pass the torch to Mediocre Spider-man but it's not the same...unlike Winter soldier, this will be mixed opinions going back and forth at least until Godzilla releases...Then after that it looks like I'll be done with films till GOTG.
FABIOJEB - 4/25/2014, 4:44 AM

Weren't there a few ppl who predicted last week that The Other Woman would bring an end to Cap's reign. Guess they didn't know what the hell they were talking about either.
