We now have a few updates facts and figures for Captain America: The Winter Soldier during its fourth week at the North American box office, and it now has officially the highest April opening of all-time. Meanwhile, it is the third biggest Marvel Studios movie ever. Read on for details!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Captain America: The Winter Soldier's current domestic total of $224.9 million makes it the top grossing April release of all-time in North America, beating 2011's Fast Five. This is significant because analysts predicted that the Marvel Studios would NOT surprass the record held by the fifth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise. Meanwhile, with a worldwide total of $645.2 million, the movie has beaten Thor: The Dark World ($645.2 million vs. $644.8 million) to become the third biggest Marvel Studios movie ever. It has also been reported today that it WILL surpass $700 million. Domestically, it still has some way to go before topping Iron Man 2's $312 million to tae fourth place. Many thanks to Box Office Mojo for the chart below:

Congrats, i may not have loved cap, but it does deserve to make that kind of money, i hope the res of the comic book movies can make that type of money to, that will mean this genres not going anywhere.

Cool, another record to add to the list :P

Glad it overtook IM2 and Thor 2, deserves it. Should finish around the $700m mark, which is pretty good going
McNyagano - 4/27/2014, 1:18 PM

Not for just this year but many more years to come. It's the greatest CBM ever made imo.
AlexanderLykins - 4/27/2014, 1:18 PM
Iron Man 3 still has me puzzled.

Well done.

AlexanderLykins - 4/27/2014, 1:20 PM
I expect Guardians of the Galaxy to finish right about where Thor did.
TheRationalNerd - 4/27/2014, 1:21 PM
Easily better than Avengers for me.
soberchimera - 4/27/2014, 1:21 PM
It was a smart strategy, release the movie in April before blockbuster season with minimal to no competition and it stays on top for 3 weeks.
TheRationalNerd - 4/27/2014, 1:22 PM
I just wonder if people on these threads saying that "I'm going to see it for the 3rd time tonight" on these threads are actually seeing it in theaters or online? lol

TheRationalNerd - 4/27/2014, 1:26 PM

Strongly agreed, I've mentioned that several times. April had no major competition so this film coming in number one all of these weeks and getting this sexy wad of cash was a...

AlexanderLykins - 4/27/2014, 1:26 PM
Iron Man 3 got around $80 and Thor: The Dark World got around $150.
ChrispyG - 4/27/2014, 1:27 PM
Very glad to hear all of this. Nice hearing that $700 million worldwide is likely. I wonder just how far past $700 million it will be able to go if it reaches it.

I believe $750 million would be the absolute maximum anyone could expect this finish with.

I'd also say that it won't hit $300 million in North America, would be nice if it could finish in the $270-$280 million range though.
YeezusWept - 4/27/2014, 1:28 PM
How do you guys spend that much money on one movie?
SageMode - 4/27/2014, 1:28 PM
Another box office record that the MCU has broken. That's what I'm talking about. MARVEL IS WINNING!!!!!
ezio619 - 4/27/2014, 1:28 PM
avengers has flaws,it takes a little while to get going and its thin on plot BUT it is a GOOD definition of a summer blockbuster,it has good characters, good humor and action,it is , as whedon said, an homage to the summer blockbusters he grew up with
AlexanderLykins - 4/27/2014, 1:29 PM
I have a big family that loves the movies as much as I do. Okay, maybe not as much. But who's going to pass up a free trip to the movies?
McNyagano - 4/27/2014, 1:29 PM

Saw it twice at screenings and twice in theatres where I had to pay-.-
marvel72 - 4/27/2014, 1:29 PM
my £9.25 is in there somewhere, seen cap three times now once at the cinema twice online.
AlexanderLykins - 4/27/2014, 1:30 PM
Combination of things.
TheRationalNerd - 4/27/2014, 1:30 PM

Jesus! Respect to you for supporting your boy. One time was enough for me, in 3D at that (which was a rip off) but I still enjoyed it. I'll wait until it's out on DVD, the most I'll probably see a movie in the theaters is twice.
