The world's largest online retailer,, have decided to block DVD pre-sales of Captain Ameria: The Winter Soldier, Maleficent and other Disney films. Check it out!

Hail Hydra! Earlier this month, the world's largest online retailer,, posted its biggest quarterly loss since 2012. For many years, the online mega-retailer has been basking in its own good fortunes but now that times are tough they are playing hardball to squeeze out a few pennies more from their suppliers. In June, Amazon went after Warner Bros.. They blocked DVD pre-order sales of The Lego Movie, 300: Rise of an Empire, Transcendence, and Winter's Tale. That dispute was later resolved. And now, Amazon is focusing their attention on Disney. It is being reported that Amazon has blocked DVD pre-order sales for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Maleficent, Muppets Most Wanted and Million Dollar Arm. In the short term these tactics may benefit Amazon's profit margins, but it's also sacrificing its customer satisfaction. At this moment, consumers should consider looking at Best Buy and Target for these items.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," available early on Digital 3D and HD August 19, and on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand September 9, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

I noticed that. I was wondering why I couldnt find it on there.
HBarnill - 8/10/2014, 9:14 AM
What is going on with Amazon these days? Even their streaming service sucks compared to Netflix.
pesmerga44 - 8/10/2014, 9:16 AM
Ya I almost never shop online I still prefer going into a store to purchase things. I will usually just get online prices and then price match.
SauronsBANE - 8/10/2014, 9:20 AM
Yeah, because this totally isn't going to backfire on Amazon. *rolls eyes*

Do they seriously think Disney has something to lose here? Let Amazon do what they want to the end of the day, Disney can take the hit. Amazon most likely can't.
ATrueHero1987 - 8/10/2014, 9:21 AM
Ahhh, that's why I couldn't pre-order it on Amazon. That's ok, I got a Walmart discount AND Walmart is selling 5 different covers for the 3D Blu Ray.
vPuik - 8/10/2014, 9:23 AM
I was just looking for it yesterday. You can get the digital one, but no physical copies were on the list. I guess I'll just wait till it's released.
marvel72 - 8/10/2014, 9:23 AM
you can still pre-order it in the uk.
darkjediknight - 8/10/2014, 9:29 AM
Amazon is fn up
CherryBomb - 8/10/2014, 9:30 AM
Amazon really are just, making themselves out to be a greedy, shady corporation (shocking, I know)
Dodging taxes, now these tactics?

It's stupid because they're gonna end up loosing money while people shop for it elsewhere.
PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - 8/10/2014, 9:30 AM
I knew something was up.

I just preordered the steel book edition, with the best cover, from Best Buy.

Silly amazon. Maybe they'll make up for it by selling a shit ton of TASM2 dvds...
DrKinsolving - 8/10/2014, 9:36 AM

Exactly, it's a stupid move and this makes Amazon look very greedy/shady....
JAC - 8/10/2014, 9:38 AM
What a load of greedy [frick]s.
shanedalton - 8/10/2014, 9:39 AM
I'll just have to make due with the Steelbook exclusive from Best Buy...
BaneSmash - 8/10/2014, 9:42 AM
Who buys dvd now a days? I can watch cap 2 in hd by streaming it on my xbmc........... I have no desire to watch a 2nd time.
String - 8/10/2014, 9:42 AM
I noticed Amazon doing this with Cap3 a few weeks back. I attributed it as the reasons why this article says. I buy mostly from Amazon but in this case, I'm heading to Best Buy or another retailer on Sept 9 to get the movie. Amazon just lost a guaranteed sell from me. The same goes for Agents of SHIELD: S1 which also seems to not be taking pre-sales.
SimyJo - 8/10/2014, 9:42 AM
No problem, I do have the 3d blu-ray on pre-order from - but if they don't deliver it on time on release day I will get it either from Sainsburys,Asda or or any of the other dirt cheap mail-order businesses.

Amazon's not the only game in town - about time those idiots there at Amazon's gilded towers fricking realised this. Their loss.
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 9:44 AM

The media was worshipping amazon for its low-profit policies
20/20 was sooooo happy with those delivery drone prototypes !!
- now the rubber meets the road !
They still have to survive in the shit economy ! It's a bitch ain't it?

The other day google announced that they were teaming with Barnes and noble - to compete with amazon.
Too bad google=NSA/ government / satan.
fettastic - 8/10/2014, 9:45 AM
Isn't the whole point of letting people pre-order to ensure that they buy it from you instead of elsewhere?
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 9:46 AM
It's ok.

They still qualify for corporate welfare. They gave enough money to the rats in Washington
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 9:48 AM
Yeah - I don't see how presages don't help sales-
It doesn't make sense so there's more to it than the "official story"
jessepostal - 8/10/2014, 9:48 AM
Your all pointing fingers at amazon but think about it in first person, would you be pissed if the company you worked for is making more and more money, your doing twice the work you did when you started, without a raise in salary??
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 9:50 AM
There are some real retards shopping at Walmart today.

Saw a "PRO UNION" bumper sticker - ON a HONDA. At a Walmart.
Same Walmart I saw a car with both "pro life" AND "probama" bumper stickers.

I think it's called cognitive dissonance
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 9:50 AM
Say what you will about amazon- it's a great way to get vintage playboys
SwagInScience - 8/10/2014, 9:51 AM
I always hit Best Buy on release day. They never run out, and they are just as cheap if not cheaper then amazon. I've bought all 3 seasons of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray for somewhere around $30 each, every time they came out.
TheLokey1 - 8/10/2014, 9:51 AM

Do you have a link to any info about Walmart having different covers on the 3d blu ray release? I have seen that best buy will have the steelbook and target will have a making of feature that you can watch online but I havnt been able to find anywhere that says what the walmart exclusive might be

SwagInScience - 8/10/2014, 9:52 AM
@JorL5150 lmao! weak. Pro union on a honda, lololololol
DrunkenNukem - 8/10/2014, 9:55 AM
"Best" buy ...we meet again..
ndwwrestler2 - 8/10/2014, 9:56 AM
dezdigi - 8/10/2014, 10:00 AM
Yeah, I was looking for it about a month ago and sent Amazon a message about it, knowing why they weren't offering it. And of course, I got a total BS answer. They didn't acknowledge the distribution drama with Disney at all.
SimyJo - 8/10/2014, 10:14 AM

Bunch of 'Cap Blockers'
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 10:22 AM
I don't think I've ever preordered anything. If I care enough (which is rare) I just get it when it comes out on Tuesday on my lunch break or after work.
JorL5150 - 8/10/2014, 10:24 AM
What I do like about amazon is when I'm looking for an obscure book- I can almost always find it listed - and they sell on consignment so I get get used books cheap.

bobevanz - 8/10/2014, 10:30 AM
My pre-order for pirate bay never gives me any problems, and it's always 2 months early too!
enlightener - 8/10/2014, 10:51 AM
So there you go CBM'ers. Apparently Amazon ARE taking orders for the product and WILL deliver.

You're welcome. :)

Thanks SimyJo!Could you point me to the pre-order link on since I can't seem to find it ;-)
grif - 8/10/2014, 10:53 AM
heres the deal with pre orders. its not 2004 anymore. unless you live in a area where there is not a lot of stores you do not need to pre order shit anymore. only thing i preorder is art books and some movie soundtracks. and that is to make damn sure i get them.

do i buy alot of shit on amazon? hell yes.
but when these movies come out on dvd and bluray i will have no trouble going into a store and buying them off a shelf.
Jollem - 8/10/2014, 10:54 AM
