Georges St-Pierre On ‘Batroc the Leaper’ Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Georges St-Pierre On ‘Batroc the Leaper’ Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Seemingly indicating that his role as Batroc the Leaper will be a small one, Georges St-Pierre has shared what Marvel asked of him, concerning his apperance in prep for the Captain America sequel!

As confirmed in yesterday’s announcement that Marvel has commenced principal photography, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre is set to play Georges Batroc, aka Batroc the Leaper, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. During an interview with SportsNet, the martial artist shared what Marvel asked of him concerning his physical appearance for the role and, furthermore, how long he’ll take part in filming. Starting at the 1:15 mark in the video, there’s a transcription below.

“They asked me to let my hair grow to play a villain. I also let my [facial] hair grow; it took me a month to grow this. I don't know [how long the movie is filming], but I'll be in LA for a week. It's my first experience, so it'll be fun and I'm excited. For this kind of thing, I'm not nervous.”.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Wolf tickets.
IronVenom22 - 4/9/2013, 1:56 PM

He could just be filming in LA for a week, and then move to a different location for a different scene.

JerBear - 4/9/2013, 1:57 PM
Kepteen Americah! I veel destroy you!
Jollem - 4/9/2013, 2:19 PM
i wish marvel studios would push cap in people's faces more like they do with iron man. thor and hulk, too. pretty much everyone else
thorhulk77 - 4/9/2013, 2:20 PM
Cameo please.
TheManFromMars - 4/9/2013, 2:23 PM
Silva is also a huge Comic Book fan. Why do you think they call him "Spider"?

BernieSanders - 4/9/2013, 2:28 PM
I'm digging the accent for some reason!
Blah Keptin Americah!
Durf - 4/9/2013, 2:32 PM
Sounds like just a small role then. Probably as a henchman early on or something
GodzillaKart - 4/9/2013, 2:39 PM
This is just going to be a cameo, as it should be.
marvel54 - 4/9/2013, 2:42 PM
cap 2 will be the best phase 2 solo film write it down
KaneRomita - 4/9/2013, 2:47 PM
yeah, he says " .. my scene (will take a week to film)" . Scene.. Singular.
Gary8264 - 4/9/2013, 2:48 PM
I always liked Batroc showin' up in Cap's books. One of my favorites was from the '80's, a two part story with Hyde. Wrote by Stern and art by Byrne, just doesn' get any better.
MrReese - 4/9/2013, 2:48 PM
Silva and GSP r both freakin awesome
teinen - 4/9/2013, 2:50 PM
It would be nice if they opened the film with the conclusion of a mission like they do with James Bond movies.
Jollem - 4/9/2013, 2:51 PM
i think batroc was a "mort of the month" in Wizard magazine
exe - 4/9/2013, 2:55 PM

hoodedjester - 4/9/2013, 3:16 PM
interesting.... first I have heard of this. Guess I'm out of touch with the CBM news. At least I knew they were filming the sequel
NovaCorpsFan - 4/9/2013, 3:19 PM
I'm down with it being a cameo, just don't kill him off.
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/9/2013, 3:21 PM
Hope Hawkeye is in this film too. :)

AlexDeLarge87 - 4/9/2013, 3:23 PM
Hawkeye, Falcon and Black Widow vs Crossbones and Batroc.

Cap vs Zemo and Winter Soldier.
soberchimera - 4/9/2013, 3:41 PM
I'm worried this movie is going to suffer from villain overload: Winter Soldier, Crossbones, and Batroc. Who the hell is Cap going to fight in the third film?
TheRedSkull - 4/9/2013, 3:44 PM
I wouldn't worry, it won't be a big part from the seems of it
AmazingFantasy - 4/9/2013, 4:01 PM
" It's a very deep and complex charecter with deeep personal issues"
Pox - 4/9/2013, 4:20 PM
tabarnak...this is the accent I have to hear most of my days here in Montreal.

actually...he is not as bad as some that I've heard around here.
NBAfanaddict - 4/9/2013, 4:26 PM
How many characters are going to be in this? I'm not complaining, just getting an Iron Man 2 vibe. And IM2 didn't have this many characters. Still have hope for Cap: WS
Fogs - 4/9/2013, 4:32 PM
@AlbertPooholes - Best movie ever.
SpideyQuad - 4/9/2013, 5:13 PM

I love that run, even though it was much too short.
TheBoss117 - 4/9/2013, 5:17 PM
With the inclusion GSP, I hope we get to see some badass h2h sequences in this
Ace101 - 4/9/2013, 5:25 PM

xXkryptoniteXx - 4/9/2013, 10:42 PM
I want Silva vs St. Pierre to fight.
Acidburn77 - 4/9/2013, 11:54 PM
I love this guy, even with his faggy french/canadian accent. (I am actually currently doing his Rushfit workout training program). Batroc is a pretty 3rd rate character though, Georges deserves better. Although he admits he's not a very good actor, so maybe its best that his character is a lame D-lister, that way he will be dispatched quickly and his crappy acting wont ruin the movie. Will be very cool to see him on the big screen though.
jimoakley666 - 4/10/2013, 1:44 AM
I'd imagine he'll just be in fatigues and not some form of costume. If he's only doing a scene, it could be a montagé of Cap doing his thing in the 21st Century. Either that or an opening sting, end of a previous mission like the beginning of the Bond and Indiana Jones movies.
