Toy Fair '14: Red Skull Figure Apart Of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Toyline

Toy Fair '14: Red Skull Figure Apart Of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Toyline

Today, at the New York Toy Fair Hasbro unveiled their toyline for Marvel's upcoming film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The character was originally played by Hugo Weaving ("The Matrix") in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.

Near the end of the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull/Johann Schmidt (played by Hugo Weaving) is last seen clutching the Tesseract. That is when the cube begins to give off some tremendous power that sucks the Red Skull into a beam of energy that shoots up through the roof of the plane and into, what appears to be another realm. Thus, we don't know if he live or if he died. It's a mystery. But, perhaps that mystery has been solved today at the New York Toy Fair. There, during Hasbro's presentation they unveiled their Captain America: The Winter Soldier toyline and oddly enough it included a Red Skull action figure. Perhaps, he will just appear in a flashback, or perhaps not.
In fact, during Hasbro's presentation they introduced a number of figures that were inspired by comics, though branded as "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," including villain Baron Zemo, and a gigantic battle-suited Mandroid. The Red Skull was not part of this caveated line of toys.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Hunger Games”) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (“The Ring 2,” “Revenge”) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Thor”) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.

He's alive!!!!!
Woodsy - 2/15/2014, 12:51 PM
If he's in the film I hope we finally get a proper super soldier fight scene!
TheGambitFreak - 2/15/2014, 12:51 PM
These are the 3" figures..... Remember, we got Aqua-suit Batman for their toyline in TDK.... It's called merchandise, people. Move along, nothing to see here.

Pierce is Red Skull though.
Woodsy - 2/15/2014, 12:52 PM
Also will he have ties to thanos since he was whisked away at the end of CAFA

Hot cheeto skull is back!

Tuuralihn - 2/15/2014, 12:58 PM
oh I hope he's not alive. At least have him look less ridiculous! The 2nd act of Cap:FirstAven was made crap because Red Skull looked so crap.
anthonyEstark - 2/15/2014, 1:01 PM
@Turralihn Why?

bazinga85 - 2/15/2014, 1:10 PM
Meh, red skull was lame in TFA
Starfox - 2/15/2014, 1:10 PM
@Tuuralihn I agree that they could've made him look better; but it wasn't bad for Cap's first solo film. Hopefully the Russo's updated the look though for TWS.
Shroombeast - 2/15/2014, 1:13 PM
How is this news exactly? It isn't new. I remember seeing this figure revealed weeks ago. Hell, I saw it on shelves yesterday.
EdgyOutsider - 2/15/2014, 1:13 PM
He looked fantastic and Hugo Weaving was great as Red Skull. Unfortunately he was under developed. Also, it'll kill my excitement if he returns in the Captain America movies, especially The Winter Soldier. There is no point or reason for his return. Nor should there be one. He's not Loki, there are more characters and villains that can be introduced that are more interesting than Red Skull.
Interestein - 2/15/2014, 1:14 PM
Just because he's apart of the set, doesn't mean he's in the film. Why do people think this?

I do hope his is in the film, but just because there's a toy of a heros greatest foe in the movie set, doesn't mean he's actually in the movie.

themidnightking - 2/15/2014, 1:26 PM
I hate you so much @McNy! Ciph, bring the Yoko Ono and I'll bring some Miley Cyrus
Comedian03 - 2/15/2014, 1:32 PM
That "leaked" soundtrack listing would be a lot easier to believe if there was, you know, an actual source for it.
SoundWave - 2/15/2014, 1:43 PM
The best comic book villain after Doctor Doom McMahon. Hope Marvel really will ask Hugo Weaving for return, he was awesome!
Inhuman - 2/15/2014, 1:44 PM
Hes not in the movie guys
MsDarkPhoenix - 2/15/2014, 1:45 PM
If Pierce is really Red Skull, Phase 2 will be the 'Plot Twist Phase'. First Mandarin, then Loki's illusions and now him... I don't know about GotG, but it looks like at least 3 out of the 4 solo movies have a twist!
TheDemonsHead - 2/15/2014, 1:46 PM
This is great news, and will add a lot of suspense in the movie when he rips off his FAKE face

TheDemonsHead - 2/15/2014, 1:46 PM
@SoundWave you forgot about me
Tymminator - 2/15/2014, 1:47 PM
McNyagno is having fun, but I have to imagine there is a part that is going nuts holding stuff back.
AstonishingArachnid - 2/15/2014, 1:49 PM
@TheDemonsHead No more false faces

Ten hours, McNya. You WILL break.
OneBadDay - 2/15/2014, 1:54 PM
Take notice of the phrasing that was used to describe pierce in this article: "presents a credible face to the world on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D." Hmmmmm...
xpaun67 - 2/15/2014, 1:56 PM
@geotheleo That soundtrack list is fake. The track lists were named after Police Academy movies for god sakes. Mission to Moscow, Back in Training, City Under Siege and Assignment Miami Beach... Really people believed that? The Falcon and the Snowman was also a track eye roll. That's why it was taken down.
rorywilliams - 2/15/2014, 1:57 PM
We know Baron Strucker is going to be running Hydra in Age of Ultron so it'd be a little superfluous to bring Red Skull back in Winter Soldier only to kill him AGAIN.
batz11 - 2/15/2014, 2:01 PM

restaino814 - 2/15/2014, 2:03 PM
Why would him being in it kill people's excitement? he is the one that finds bucky and brainwashes him into thinking cap left him behind and makes him hate cap.
marvel72 - 2/15/2014, 2:05 PM
classic cap villain,i hope he returns in the winter soldier.
rorywilliams - 2/15/2014, 2:06 PM
It's also worth noting that even discounting the Zemo and Mandroid figures, there's already some inaccurate figures in the movie line. There's a ton of costume variants for Cap that I guarantee he does not wear in the film. Red Skull being in the line means nothing.
jessepostal - 2/15/2014, 2:10 PM
@geo, the leaked soundtrack titles were not real, half of them were police academy movie titles
GeekyCheekyChic - 2/15/2014, 2:11 PM
Red Skull
Baron Zemo
Baron Strucker
Madame Hydra

PLEASE between Winter Soldier and Avengers 2- Please Marvel! Fulfill my dreams of a glorious battle between the HYDRA/Masters of Evil and The Avengers PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
