Chris Evans Talks CAPTAIN AMERICA Sequel; Teases Possible THOR: THE DARK WORLD Cameo

Talking in detail about delving more into the "Man Out Of Time" aspect of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Chris Evans also teases a possible cameo for the Star Spangled Avenger in Thor: The Dark World. Hit the jump to read his comments in full!

Again reiterating that there was good reason for removing the "Man Out Of Time" scene from Marvel's The Avengers, Chris Evans recently told Collider at the Toronto Film Festival that those aspects of Steve Rogers' story will be explored in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and teased how the material cut from the superhero ensemble will play a big role in his next solo instalment. The site even asked him about whether he knows what direction a possible third movie will take, but he unfortunately only replied with, "Maybe".

"The most I am looking forward to is exploring a little bit of Steve’s…they had all those deleted scenes with The Avengers because a lot of those scenes are for Captain 2, you know what I mean? It was good stuff, but it all felt like that was his story. It is a different movie. With The Avengers there was so much to cram in. So I think making it any longer would have just been exhausting. A lot of that stuff [that was cut] is for Captain America 2. That is his story. It is him trying to on a personal level adjust to the fact that everyone he knows is gone and the whole Peggy Carter of it all. There are a lot of things that he kind of has to come to terms with. So I don’t know. I am excited to kind of see flashes of the first Captain, if you know what I mean, and to see his memory of what we now know as an audience of who he was."

With Chris Evans signed up for only six movies (rather than the usual nine that Marvel Studios gets their actors to commit to), he made the rather surprising revelation that he would like Captain America to make some sort of cameo appearance in Thor: The Dark World. Of course, this isn't confirmation that it will happen, and it's highly unlikely that Marvel would want to waste one of his contracted appearances on a cameo. Even so, it IS something that he's both discussed with Chris Hemsworth and is clearly enthusiastic about.

"[Chris] Hemsworth and I even talked about that. I would love to do a little thing in Thor 2. It is obviously going to be tricky trying to work out the plot, the reason why I am not there to help him, and why he is not there to help me. But the best thing about Marvel is that, like I said, the movies were so good and we had such a good time making them."

So there's no cameo, he just thinks it would be fun.
RAWRG - 9/17/2012, 5:11 PM
They shouldn't waste one of his movies on a cameo but still can't wait for CA:TWS
TayDee - 9/17/2012, 5:12 PM
Wow, the title of the article is VERY misleading. He isn't teasing anything at all
toco89 - 9/17/2012, 5:16 PM
Wow, nine movies, that's a LOOOOOOONG commitment regardless of the money.

And they don't have any say in anything either. Only RDJ gets that. The rest were relative unknowns or don't carry the weight just yet.
tobeyoungagain - 9/17/2012, 5:20 PM
Josh, if you take this the wrong way, I apologize, because that's not my intent, but you'd make a great tabloid reporter, in the sort of publications that speak of evidence of life on mars, then reveals an image of a lizard crawling across red sand. All of your taglines are just so misleading, but I have to admit, they pull me in every time, only to leave me disappointed, half of the time.
DioFoRio - 9/17/2012, 5:23 PM
@tobeyoungagian...Heard Batboy is going to make an appearance. ; )
JoshWilding - 9/17/2012, 5:26 PM
"Teases Possible THOR: THE DARK WORLD Cameo" - "I would love to do a little thing in Thor 2." Nothing misleading about that. 'Nuff said.
Grimfoe - 9/17/2012, 5:26 PM
well, if he's interested in doing it, I'm sure they could work out the contractual stuff.

Anyway, I'm jacked for this. Oh, I just noticed Griff hadn't posted yet. I'll save him the trouble.

Griff just told me this was going to be a, "shit movie."

Did I accIdently come to the National Enquirer site?
Can't wait for the "Stan Lee's tragic last days" article.
third3ye - 9/17/2012, 5:29 PM
He just wants the cameo so he can get his contract done faster. No secret that Evans would rather be doing smaller indie films than working with the big studios.
jimpinto24 - 9/17/2012, 5:31 PM
Good article! The Man Out of Time scene would have been perfect for CA:TWS. As far as the cameo in Thor:TDW, I would like to see Chris Evans make a cameo, but I want Chris to get a decent amount of screen time, and that won't happen. So I would say past on the cameo.

Is it just me or ever since this guy signed up for Cap, his attitude towards interviews, and the way he delivers them have drastically changed... From that shy awkward little bastard to one of the most likeable guys in Hollywood. It's like I've gone through a journey, this guy is more and more enthusiastic about his work.
Mego - 9/17/2012, 5:38 PM
Why would they need to explain where the other Avengers are? Especially when Thor takes place away from Earth.
But if they must, I propose we see that Cap is finally losing his virginity, Stark is having a facelift, The Hulk Starring in a TV show called The Hulk.
Hawkeye and Widow are off in a cabin getting kinky.
spectre88 - 9/17/2012, 5:39 PM
Well Mr. Evans since you have so much fun making them why don't you tell Marvel that you'll do a cameo in Thor but not let it count towards your 7 or 9 picture deal =D
hawkeye2012 - 9/17/2012, 5:41 PM
It would be awesome if he has a cameo in Thor 2!
GUNSMITH - 9/17/2012, 5:48 PM
fortycals - 9/17/2012, 5:53 PM
Unless cap goes to asgard, I would rather not see him. It would mean more time on earth. Maybe an after credit cameo.
fortycals - 9/17/2012, 5:55 PM
Then again I rather Jane go to asgard, instead of the other way around.
Fogs - 9/17/2012, 6:02 PM
Once again a misleading title brought to you by Josh.
beane2099 - 9/17/2012, 6:05 PM
He didn't "tease" anything.
beane2099 - 9/17/2012, 6:11 PM
"Beane2099 teases appearance in Robocop remake"

3 Hours earlier:

Beane2099: "Yeah man, I was driving by the site where they were shooting the Robocop remake."

Friend-of-Beane2099: "Cool."

Ha1frican - 9/17/2012, 6:17 PM
A cap cameo when returning to Jane (hopefully a reunion is all tht takes place on earth, been there done that yknow) would be cool because she is sort of involved with SHIELD or at least they are keeping tabs on her
Ha1frican - 9/17/2012, 6:18 PM
But only a cameo anything more wuld be stupid
Warcam - 9/17/2012, 6:19 PM

"I would love to win the Powerball jackpot."

'Nuff said, indeed.
superotherside - 9/17/2012, 6:27 PM
Cool. But a cameo of Thor or Cap out of their respective films would be silly. Still it's nice he's not against a "Team-up" I always thought it would be cool if Cap and Iron Man had a team up live action movie.
superotherside - 9/17/2012, 6:29 PM
Regarding the cameo in Thor 2, I'd say he's mainly just saying it would be fun. Not that there is one.
Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 9/17/2012, 6:41 PM
He wants a cameo so he will get a new deal his runs out after cap 3. Not signed on for avengers 3
ShadesAtKnightII - 9/17/2012, 7:27 PM
Evans and Hemsworth seemed to become buddies. They probably just don't want to wait til Avengers 2.
Nighmarewalking117 - 9/17/2012, 7:29 PM
So does that mean: Spidy and Cap are going to meet-down the middle somewhere?
Floke - 9/17/2012, 8:07 PM
Would rather see Black Widow having a cameltoe in ThorTDW..
TheAbomination - 9/17/2012, 8:09 PM
He's not teasing a cameo, he's just saying that it would be fun to do one in Thor 2 (which personally, would not be a good idea).
inkslinger616 - 9/17/2012, 8:11 PM
Lets just pray to Odin that the only super-cameo we see in The Dark World is Dr.Strange
LoudLon - 9/17/2012, 8:19 PM
I completely understand why that scene was omitted, and Evans is absolutely right. It was fantastic stuff, but it would have been out of place in The Avengers. Like in the comics, The Avengers focuses on the characters as a whole, as a group. Their independent titles focus on storylines more personal to each. And that way has worked pretty well so far, so I'm cool with the movies doing the same.
MatioShack - 9/17/2012, 8:20 PM
As hard as it would be to explain why Cap and Thor aren't helping each other, it would be WAY harder to explain what the hell Cap is doing running around the nine realms fighting elves and sh!t.
Oxbow - 9/17/2012, 8:26 PM
His first answer was nearly unreadable. No information was exchanged, and badly! Lol
skidz - 9/17/2012, 10:11 PM
You're all assuming the by doing a cameo he's somehow affecting his contract. That's not necessarily true, he'd be volunteering (provided the cameo actually happened).
thebearjew - 9/17/2012, 10:22 PM
does anyone know where cap 2 will be filmed?
inkslinger616 - 9/17/2012, 10:23 PM
@fangz...I can get behind that too but a post credits scene is inevitable so im guessing it'll involve Guardians of the Galaxy.
m0th3r - 9/17/2012, 11:41 PM
Marvel already said that there were no guest avengers in solo films. I have my fingers crossed for a new Major B, or Minor A lister to make debut in some of the phase 2..Falcon is already cast, and everyone is hoping for Doc Strange in Thor. IM3 has already teased AIM, Mandarin and a boat load of villains to boot....
m0th3r - 9/17/2012, 11:44 PM
and btw...i bet Evans does want to do not sure how the contract is written, but i bet cameos count toward that 6 picture deal he made.. I cant see Marvel wasting one of those obligations this early on and for limited return. Now, if Evans and Hemsworth (and hopefully the rest of the crew) are "super bros" then by all means dude..volunteer a day on set...we would LOVE to see u
