Robert Redford Arrives On CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Set; Frank Grillo Teases 'Crossbones' Evolution

Legendary actor Robert Redford has finally been sighted on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the production's final day in Cleveland, as Frank Grillo tweets about Brock Rumlow' story arc!

Today marks the final day of filming for Captain America: The Winter Soldier in Cleveland, Ohio, but before the production moves back to Los Angeles, two-time Academy Award-winning actor, film director, producer and philanthropist Robert Redford has finally been spotted on set. In the photos, Redford, who's playing S.H.I.E.L.D. honcho Alexander Pierce, is seen in business attire and exiting a vehicle. Also spotted, Brock Rumlow/Crossbones actor Frank Grillo, who "took a few moments away from the set to talk and pose for pictures," as the photographer notes, "before a producer told him that he "shouldn't keep Mr. Redford waiting."

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

I honestly think this'll surprise a lot of people. I think it might be the best movie of Phase 2.
xeno - 6/27/2013, 3:38 PM
Great photos! Redford is looking really good there. Hopefully Alexander Pierce is a total badass and puts Cap through the wringer.
LEEE777 - 6/27/2013, 3:49 PM
Good ol' Rob make this unmissable to us and Joe Public alike!
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 3:53 PM
I can read between the lines WS will be Europe/Russia's CA equivalent. And be first in the film. Then when WS goes rogue Crossbones is created to tie up the loose ends
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 3:56 PM
Redford is employing Crossbones but why? Idk prolly some convoluted diatribe to explain Avengers 2. It is the last film in Phase 2 before the Avengers. hopefully it doesn't suck as bad as IM2 which did the same exact thing and paved the way for the 1st AVENGERS film
TheManFromMars - 6/27/2013, 3:58 PM

TWIST: Crossbones is actually an X-man!!!
l0rdleg0las - 6/27/2013, 3:59 PM
Robert Redford being in this says the script for this movie is incredible. It isn't eveeyday yoy get one of Hollywood history's greatest leading men in a comic movie.
TheManFromMars - 6/27/2013, 3:59 PM
Winter Soldier is currently my most anticipated Phase 2 movie.
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 4:04 PM
Doesn't mean the script is stellar, it could just be exposure. Redford not only wants money but wants the younger generation to experience him. DOESN'T MEAN THE SCRIPT IS SPECTACULAR
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 4:04 PM
Crossbones shall be a badass!
SychoSid85 - 6/27/2013, 4:04 PM
Redford is The RedSkull
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 4:05 PM
Sometimes even super über rich folk want more money. Maybe he's paying a Grandkids way through college and has to make back a ill more dough for himself
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 4:06 PM
People take parts for money or prestige sometimes a ill of both
JoeMomma29 - 6/27/2013, 4:06 PM

LOL you think!
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 4:08 PM
Ok 2nd big deal point still stands
TheWolverine08 - 6/27/2013, 4:08 PM
This movie has the chance to be Marvel's best solo film. I hope it delivers.
TheAbomination - 6/27/2013, 4:11 PM
Good. For a minute there, judging from the set photos, I was worried Crossbones wouldn't get his costume.
Dustellar - 6/27/2013, 4:18 PM
In my opinion... Redford = Heinrich Zemo.
TheSisko - 6/27/2013, 4:25 PM
I think Robert Redford will either be Red Skull or or an older Baron Zemo, and lead the Thunderbolts/Masters of Evil in the next Avengers film. So I do not see Marvel doing a fakeout with Redford's character at all.
VonArndt - 6/27/2013, 4:30 PM
Crossbones pretty much always worked for Red Skull. Redford is Red Skull ala Lukin from the WS comic arc
CoolantTech - 6/27/2013, 4:37 PM
I think Marvels really got something on their hands here with Redford and all, that would be kickass if he really was Red Skull though and also they call this a political thriller so this shoud be pretty interesting
beane2099 - 6/27/2013, 4:38 PM
I actually don't think we're going to see him in a costume. Definitely not the the Crossbones costume from the comics. I don't care if we do to be honest.

I agree that Reford's character will play a part in Avengers 2. I think elements of Cap 2 and Iron Man 3 will both play into Avengers 2.
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 4:45 PM
A.i.m was the element in Im3 that will extrapolate into the Avengers 2 plot. That's kinda obvious
kevberg - 6/27/2013, 5:21 PM
Redfords not the Red way.. Redfords so old he farts dust, he would break a hip doing any stunts.
AlexanderLykins - 6/27/2013, 5:32 PM
I think he'll be one of the Barons. I know this movie is basically going to be sequel to Marvel's The Avengers but I don't think it will have much to do with Avengers 2. I want Avengers 2 details so we can start putting a lot of these idiotic and frustrating predictions to rest about the Phase 2 movies. They got Phase 1 right and I'm grateful for that. I am worried about the Phase 2 Avengers film.
StrangerX - 6/27/2013, 5:33 PM
Lee i see u dude makin those excluse appearaces lol. This better be good
dellamorte1872 - 6/27/2013, 5:54 PM
SpecialK up there is a douche ^ plus hahaha very immature
Fogs - 6/27/2013, 5:57 PM
Redford = HYDRA controlling SHIELD
Sephiroth - 6/27/2013, 6:08 PM
I def got high hopes for this film. Doubt we'll get the Crossbones costume from the comics.
EpitomeofAwesome - 6/27/2013, 6:42 PM
Ocelot - 6/27/2013, 6:53 PM
They really should just make Pierce the Red Skull to conclude and wrap up what happened to him after the first film.
SychoSid85 - 6/27/2013, 6:57 PM
Frank Grilo would be great for Punisher.
AUSSYACE - 6/27/2013, 7:14 PM
It looks better than the first movie and I look forward to it...
AmazingFantasy - 6/27/2013, 7:27 PM
Redford is Skull
JustDame - 6/27/2013, 8:26 PM
Redford is Aleksander Lukin
HULK2099 - 6/27/2013, 8:49 PM
He better look like crossbones
RamonSuarez - 6/27/2013, 10:16 PM
Crossbones is the exclusive henchmen of Red Skull.

I am betting Redford is Crossbones.
BlindJustice - 6/27/2013, 10:21 PM
@blackandyellow - Reford IS old haha, but dammit he's STILL an awesome actor!
