Scarlett Johansson On Black Widow's Supporting Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 And Beyond

Acknowledging her role in The Avengers sequel, the Black Widow actress explains how Captain America The Winter Soldier differs from Iron Man 2, though she plays a supporting role in both. Check it out!

The Huffington Post caught up with Scarlett Johansson yesterday to discuss her new partnership with SodaStream International Ltd, and amid the interview, the actress ended up talking about playing Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow as a supporting character in both Iron Man 2 and this summer's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. “My first Marvel film was Iron Man 2 and then we did The Avengers and then Chris Evans and I did Cap 2, but I think that film, there's a couple of new characters,” she replied when asked how the Marvel sequels differ. “The Falcon is a new character in that, and of course Sebastian Stan is kind of continuing his character, obviously he's playing the Winter Soldier. But these characters really kind of take on something bigger than they've ever seen, so I think it's something that they can't do without each other. In that sense, we were in it, kind of neck-and-neck, and it's a bigger responsibility. But then again, even in "Avengers 2," we all play in it, it's not like, "Great, I'll be booking, like, two days a week and then be eating sandwiches the rest of the week." No, it's on. We all are fighting in it together, we're all fighting our own battles and our own demons and it's a lot of dramatic work, and the physical part of it, so the films all have their own challenges, but it's fun.”

Speaking of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, for which Scarlett Johansson has received her copy of Joss Whedon's script, her co-star Mark Ruffalo recently revealed that he'll start shooting the anticipated sequel in April despite principal photography starting in March. Also, Latino Review's Elmayimbe has revealed an interesting tidbit about his role as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk. What do you think?

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014.

Hawkeye>Black Widow

WHERE THE [frick] IS HAWKEYE??!! Show him some love. They better explain his absence in this movie.

I actually kinda hope he left SHIELD. Never liked the idea of that.
MrCBM56 - 1/11/2014, 1:52 PM
And when I say the idea of that, I meant him being an agent of SHIELD.
CaptainAmerica - 1/11/2014, 1:55 PM
Really excited for Avengers 2, if it's half as good as the first I'll be happy.
Bearjew - 1/11/2014, 1:57 PM
Thank god someone's talking about it
Kurne - 1/11/2014, 2:04 PM

"WHERE THE [frick] IS HAWKEYE??!!"

The hawk? Up in his nest, as usual...

... That's the only explanation there is and that he'll need :P
MrCBM56 - 1/11/2014, 2:08 PM

LOL!!! Clever.
quas666 - 1/11/2014, 2:10 PM
I dont get what elmayimbe is trying to say
XelCorp - 1/11/2014, 2:13 PM
What if Hawkeye just needed a little break after all the things that went down in The Avengers?
Joementum - 1/11/2014, 2:15 PM
Could Hawkeye be in AntMan???

If it's a heist film and Pym asks for help getting his gear from Lang then maybe Hawkeye could play a role.
NovaCorpsFan - 1/11/2014, 2:15 PM

You win the internet.
TheManFromMars - 1/11/2014, 2:16 PM
Maybe ElMayimbe is saying that Betty Ross is in the movie?
MrCBM56 - 1/11/2014, 2:16 PM

He's going to be dating someone in A2... But what about Betty Ross?

This takes place two years after the avengers...

Joementum - 1/11/2014, 2:18 PM
If this happens:

I'll pull a Pee Wee Herman in the theater.
JediSuperGuy83 - 1/11/2014, 2:19 PM
Captain America has Good Taste in Redheads me likey as well
FOOM - 1/11/2014, 2:19 PM
Can't wait to see her in 'Under the Skin' which will probably be better than any CBM this year.
Humby - 1/11/2014, 2:22 PM
Why do they need to explain where Hawkeye is?

-In Iron Man 2, Widow was undercover at Stark Industries.
-In Thor, Hawkeye was off with Coulson's team.
-In the beginning of the Avengers, Widow was on a mission in Russia and Hawkeye was working at the Tesseract Facility.

Why can't he just be off on some other mission? Shield is still operating under business as usual.
JediSuperGuy83 - 1/11/2014, 2:23 PM
@Foom then go to indie site not this site
sameoldthing - 1/11/2014, 2:23 PM
She needs to do a hard R film & really show some nudity.
Do it before she's too old & starts to fall apart.
Serious actresses do nude stuff all the time & it's not disrespectful.
Its hot as hell!
Kurne - 1/11/2014, 2:25 PM
Oooh, nice Hulk info.

Also guys, I think this interview was mistranslated... I don't think Scarlett was referring to A2, she was just saying

"But then again, even in Avengers too,"...
DEVLIN712 - 1/11/2014, 2:26 PM
Hmmmm... Widow's my prime suspect to be the first Avenger to kick the bucket in AoU
FOOM - 1/11/2014, 2:26 PM

I did and I have. But The Winter Soldier looks damn fine too. Damn damn fine.
DCMarvelFreshman - 1/11/2014, 2:26 PM
@Kurne I think you're right
Kurne - 1/11/2014, 2:27 PM
Wtf, why does the filming date for Age of Ultron keep getting pushed? First it was March, then February, then January and now April?
PunkRockJesus - 1/11/2014, 2:28 PM
Pbth, i hope Ultron tears her apart! So sick of her and her useless one liners.

"I don't see how that's a party"

SpideyQuad - 1/11/2014, 2:28 PM
Wouldn't Antman' lose fingers if he tried that on Hawkeye's arrow?
XelCorp - 1/11/2014, 2:29 PM
@MrCBM56- Even if it is two years, it's possible that he could still be coming back out of a shell after being mind controlled by Loki. In The Dark World Selvig was acting kind of nutty even though it's been roughly a year after.. For Hawkeye it could have taken a different turn.. He also did kill a lot of people he shouldn't have killed so it may be worse for him. If not that then he could be on missions else where, allowing them to bring in Falcon.. Having Falcon, Cap, Blackwidow AND Hawkeye would be too much for a solo flick Imo
SpideyQuad - 1/11/2014, 2:29 PM
LOL same old thing!
SpideyQuad - 1/11/2014, 2:30 PM
Yeah, Hawkeye could have joined the circus even
ALmazing - 1/11/2014, 2:32 PM
@Kurne-It hasn't, since the ensemble cast is so large they don't all start work at the same time. It just means Ruffalo doesn't start until April.
Kurne - 1/11/2014, 2:36 PM

I'm just confused because sometimes it's coming from the same person. Scarlett said a few months ago that she was starting in January and then I think she said March with Jackson. Evans said March, later Feb (well could be late Feb early March...).
sameoldthing - 1/11/2014, 2:37 PM
@ SpideyQuad
You know I'm right...she needs to show her curves, naked style!
FOOM - 1/11/2014, 2:40 PM

If 'Under the Skin' follows the novel then you should (almost)get your wish.
RetroFit - 1/11/2014, 2:41 PM
I really don't care much for the fact they made Crossbones a SHIELD agent in Cap 2. You can see him on the plane in the trailer when Cap jumps. He's the guy that is asked if he was wearing a parachute and he answers No. He has NEVER been a good guy in the comics, he's always been a bad guy. Even if he's a double agent, he's so evil that he'd raise suspicions around him. And they BETTER show him in his mask.

I also hope that Robert Redford's character actually turns out to be Red Skull. *fingers crossed*.
MrCameron - 1/11/2014, 2:41 PM
Still pissed that they left out Hawkeye.
ALmazing - 1/11/2014, 2:42 PM
@Kurne-Yeah, it gets confusing because they have to schedule these guys based on their availability so sometimes what you hear from them are guesses, sometimes they don't even know.
VISIONaryNPa - 1/11/2014, 2:43 PM
So why is ELmaybe's dumb tweet on this article?
Omarvls - 1/11/2014, 2:43 PM
"Talk all you want about BATMAN VS SUPERMAN but do NOT sleep on THE AVENGERS 2. Especially with what I'm been hearing. Lots of cool stuff"

Well for Age of Ultron to compete with BvS MASSIVE HYPE you have to hear that instead of Captain America riding a Harley to Battle he is now on a SkyCycle flying through the air getting ready to go to battle wearing his new battle suit with dragons scales like in the comics
MrCameron - 1/11/2014, 2:46 PM
So do you guys think that Bruce is dating Betty Ross or someone else?
heitish - 1/11/2014, 2:48 PM
I am ready for this and the thor 2 dvd
blkchi - 1/11/2014, 2:49 PM
