SPOILERS: ILM's "Helicarrier" VFX Breakdown - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Wired has posted a new and the first visual effects breakdown for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This looks at a spoilery scene involving the Helicarrier.

"Industrial Light & Magic was tasked with updating the helicarriers in the new film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. FXguide's Mike Seymour talks to the visual effects company to find out what new details were added to the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircrafts, and how the effects team created a digital modeling environment for the epic helicarrier crash scene." - WIRED
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The movie was great. Great story line, wonderful mix of practical effects and CGI. It it remembered me of "The Dark Knight". There was only a littl;e bit of CHI in there.
But for me the best CBM with CGI effect’s for me is "Man of Steel".

Awesome stuff, hopefully seeing this again soon!

ILM did an amazing job with both Avengers and Cap 2, hopefully Marvel get them to work on more films

The visual effects in this movie are amazing...it's really hard to believe what cgi can do now-a-days...kinda makes ya think, are we really living in some alien's 'matrix' like world? Haha...

Marvel is so spot on. This movie is Captain America with a supporting cast of heroes and villains right from his books. Just as Thor was filled with his universe of people. Great formula executed perfectly. The take on Arnim Zola was inspired!
oh, and I made this.

in my country it arrived 26 march. till now I've watched 3 times. I'm a comic fan and a movie fan. I've never thought This movie could be so cool. It's not meant for children, great action an fx ( but nowadays I give them for granted), but the story it's cool, not like the winter soldier run but nontheless well crafted and great timing. I'm a Cap fan but the '90 movie was so orrible that if I could erease it from my brain I probably feel better in real life. But this movie it's awesome, beyond awesome. I'm probably gonna see it a 4th time...

charlie2094 - 4/5/2014, 6:38 AM

I realise that, but they didn't work on IM3/Thor 2, nor Guardians or Ant-Man...doesn't seem like they're using them for all their films, only other they're working on currently is Age of Ultron.

Be great to see them work on them all though, definitely one of (if not the) best VFX companies
