HELP WANTED: Looking for writing cooperation
Looking for a writing buddy to help take my script ideas from ideas in my head, to something on paper and beyond.
By Knightrider - 11/11/2012
Basically I enjoy writing scripts, and I enjoy Comicbook characters, but I one day would love to be writing a script for any number of characters that actually get made into movies for fans across the world to enjoy.
However, in order to do that I perhaps need to start low and work my way up. (Think Josh Franks with Chronicle, where now he is up for major movies)
I am relatively new to actually trying to write in a script format, and I often find myself losing interest in an idea because like most people I work full-time, and can need help whenever I hit a problem with the story or writers block and lack people around me who share my passion so thus I don't have that person to bounce ideas back and forth with.
This has left me feeling somewhat frustrated that I have several potential ideas, but can't get them out and made into a complete script.
So what I was hoping was to find a person(s) who would be interested in helping take my ideas to the next level, you may even have your own concepts that need help with so would be a neutrally benefiting partnership.
Ideally once complete, I would like to use tools such as Amazon Studios, or other potential avenues to allow these to get made into proper features, and if successful imagine that starting from a mere idea on this website we could one day be writing a Marvel movie, a DC movie and it can all start now.
Like I said, I work full-time, but I am sure could arrange a a chat once a week, and I have programs such as Celtx, which aids users to work on scripts from various locations and/or devices.
So, before you respond I guess may help to have a little background knowledge about what types of films I am into, and what type of films I would like to make...otherwise any potential working partnership goes up in smoke if one of us wants to make period dramas and the other action blockbusters.
Well, I am into Science Fiction (Not OTT, but like to push the boundaries E.G. Think the TV Show Fringe), Action (I can enjoy both thought provoking and mindless action movies, if done right both can be good fun), Obviously Comic book movies (Yep, enjoy comic books and comic book based movies, and the purpose of this is to to write one based on any number of characters), Thrillers, Horror (Although, I am not into the whole zombie craze, nor do I think horrors are good if they are just gore, gore, gore I think suspense is best when I watch or have an idea for a horror script).
I would say that many of my ideas involve elements of the above, if you're someone that is more into rom-coms than anything I have mentioned I don't take it personally and wish you the very best, as it is a tough industry to crack.
For those still reading, and interested, then the type of person I am looking for is someone motivated, knows how to write a script (Don't have to be perfect as I am not), would be good if had Celtx (It's free), good with vocabulary, creative, able to bounce ideas back-and-forth, doesn't take criticism as an insult (I am sure I will have many ideas that will suck, part of this is helping develop the good ideas into great ones and if something isn't working then it doesn't work, that isn't a reflection on the person), mature, understands story and narrative, and someone who also enjoys writing and has a passion to believe that this could turn into a career.
Now, if you think this sounds like you then just leave a comment and we can have a bit more of a chat and share a couple of ideas to see if thinking along the same lines if not no worries I won't take it to heart.
I look forward to hearing from anyone, preferable to be in Wellington, New Zealand as makes meetings around work a lot easier, but with modern technology that isn't a set-in-stone requirement.
Thanks once again for your time.
