I love the irony here, the people calling those who don't like homosexuality for religous purposes close-minded idiots just because they won't accept something that their opposition believes in. Come on, we're comic book fans, were supposed to be nerdy and smarter than everyone else. Don't call someone ignorant and hateful because they don't agree with you. Not only does it weaken your argument, but then you become, in your own opinion, just as ignorant and hateful.

And how many straight people have called that picture offensive? Its my experience that most of the time, the people offended arn't the ones who should be! I laugh at hair-lip jokes, even though I "should" be offended by them. You guys need to chill. Seriously.

Agreed ANooBiS, those two really shouldn't fly. If we were counting those, we should probably be adding Star Trek & the new Street Fighter onto that list. Being what it is, I'm watchmen all the way on this. The more I read about this the more I like it (F#$* the squid) :) Fox's track record with superheroes makes me anything but excited about Wolverine, that said, I'll still be in there opening night for it, like a chode; waiting for punishment and hoping to be surprised. Both GIJoe & DB both look like the great return of the old Street Fighter movie; and by that, I mean completely crappy, but maybe so bad that in 5 years we'll watch them for a laugh. Transformers? Sorry, the first one didn't work for me at all. They killed the black transformer for god's sake! WTF! Even John Turturo couldn't save it. I know I'm in the minority on that one, but this new one can't be any better.

Read this if you haven't. If you're into crime, espionage, or mysteries. Milligan did readers proud with this one. I've only read the first three stories, don't know if there are more. All great stuff though. Read in order if possible. If you like bendis' crime books, azzerrello, the daredevil series, things like that... it's right in that vein. Smart and well drawn.

Just found out that ABC actually already had a Human Target show... Check out this quote from "Don Markstein's Toonopedia"
-
"The Human Target next turned up on TV. Mirroring his back-page status in comic books, he was merely a summer replacement — seven episodes, which aired on ABC starting July 20, 1992. Christopher Chance was played by Rick Springfield. The TV version differed from the comic book in several ways. The character was fleshed out a little by making him a Vietnam vet, he was given a team of assistants, and he operated out of a large airplane, where clients would hole up during the operation. Also, to make his services more accessible to common folks, the TV series set his fee at 10% of the client's annual income."

Interesting. I wonder if the rights to the tv show will cause an issue, or if they've passed hands officially.

He's kind of a shazam character. Him and his plucky side kick would have space age influenced superhero adventures against the likes of Young Nastyman. Years after the original golden age comic dropped out of existence, Alan Moore re-envisioned the character in his first true superhero deconstruction. It was kind of an early vision of the more experimental Supreme reboot he penned. Gaiman followed Moore's story with one of his own, but before he finished his 3 part saga the comic company went under, since then, it's been in legal hell. The book was groundbreaking as it is unknown.

The reason no one has heard of it is because the rights have been in limbo since the mid 90's. It's a very convoluted legal issue that was supposedly just solved by Marvel waving it's 10 million dollar D!@# around the room. Until now, no reprints have been issued in almost 25 years.

The graphic novels run for over 200 bucks although there are digital pirate copies floating around and I suggest any fan of Moore's or Gaiman's work check them out. They're really beautiful frightening stories. Marvel has announced the reissue of the golden era stories, but i assume that the legal rights issues are still keeping them from announcing the reprint of the Moore/Gaiman stories. Here's hoping they do.

Also - If Marvel gets Bendis to write the movie instead of Gaiman, I'll regurg bile until i drown in it. I love his writing, but this story is NOT his arena.
