COMICS: June 2013's GREEN LANTERN Solicitations; New Leader Of The Corps Revealed

We know that all of the Green Lantern titles will be getting new creative teams this June, but DC has now released all of the solicitations for that month, one of which reveals who the new leader of the Green Lantern Corps is!

Hal Jordan becomes the leader of the most feared and hated group in the universe: The Green Lantern Corps! New faces, new threats and a new beginning for the GREEN LANTERN monthlies!

Larfleeze, the breakout character from BLACKEST NIGHT, last seen in the pages of THRESHOLD, is back in his own solo, ongoing series—and he’s not sharing it with anyone! In his debut solo adventure, Larfleeze meets Laord of the Hunt, a pan-dimensional cosmic entity that believes all living things are prey—and he’s out to turn the universe into his own private hunting reserve! And the only thing worse than Laord is the deadly beings he can summon!

It’s recruitment time for the Red Lanterns, and no one in the universe is safe...especially with the most volatile Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, suddenly in their corner! But why has Guy turned his back on his own Corps?

Art and cover by ALESSANDRO VITTI

The Templar Guardians have been locked away for millennia, but they have a VERY clear idea of what they need to do next — and of all the Lanterns in the universe, they need Kyle Rayner’s help. So it’s a shame he wants nothing to do with them! But once he sees the strange anomaly lurking at the edge of the universe, he may have no choice but to get on board with their mission...

It’s nonstop action as the Green Lantern Corps faces attacks on Oa and Earth…and Guy Gardner is presented with a choice that could change the balance of power between the different Lantern Corps forever!

That green lantern description is very promising. Hal as the corps leader? Hell ya!!
duncboy - 3/9/2013, 4:46 AM
Hal gets the Green Lanterns, Kyle is some sort of White Lantern now, and Guy gets the Reds? Loooooking good!

Mogo gets reformed and John has another new girlfriend (it was established that Mogo is "female").

Geoff Johns isn't writing GL anymore and Baz and John Stewart aren't focused?

Who cares?
Tevii - 3/9/2013, 5:04 AM
Thia all sounds great. Still sad to see Johns leave, but who knows, maybe this new guy will be great.

Still dont much care for Baz yet though
longbowhunter - 3/9/2013, 5:08 AM
I've been reading the GL books for a lot of years now. While all this looks very promising I believe its time for me to walk away. Looking to make big cuts to my pull list and this looks like a good jumping off point.
HavocPrime - 3/9/2013, 5:10 AM
Cool cool, guess we know now that Jordan won't be a Black Lantern for long then.
HellsHammer - 3/9/2013, 5:33 AM
Good! Hal is the best end of story!
coolguy - 3/9/2013, 6:02 AM
yeah no offense to the new teams but this is a good place to jump off it seems. i may buy one or teo though if they catch me at the right time. i loved hales i vampire and ive heard good things about the other two but idk, is hal going to be earth based still, i hope so
ShadowOfTheWeb - 3/9/2013, 6:06 AM
yes! this looks awesome!
ShadowOfTheWeb - 3/9/2013, 6:07 AM
Guy as a red lantern = yes. also Hal's new suit looks awesome. adapt this for the movie
wearethewalkingdead9 - 3/9/2013, 6:22 AM
Guy kinda looks like a roided out Gambit on the cover of RL haha
pesmerga44 - 3/9/2013, 6:40 AM
Does anyone disagree that the Larfleeze cover is actually kinda scary with how he drew these characters. I believe this cover would scare small children and also why is Larfleeze a wolfman kinda alien I thought he was a lizard man kind of alien.
MJPETTY7 - 3/9/2013, 9:18 AM
Baz is a main character in JLA anyway, and if Guy moves to Red Lanterns then John and Kilowag will run Green Lantern Corps. Over-all, everyone wins and everyone can follow their favorite GL anywhere. I'm just glad Hal's back at the center of GL and Sinestro's gone & that Baz is just in JLA. I do think that Hal should go back to JL though, I miss him and Flash in that book...
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 3/9/2013, 9:27 AM
Of course Hal is the leader. He's a boss!

HOLY F*CK! Finally ALL Green Lantern books look interesting!

HAL JORDAN (the single best green lantern EVER!) is finally back in the saddle with no other colored lantern dragging him down... Guy a red lanter?!?!? = Dream. Come. true. Been wanting that since blackest night.

I dont think I could ask for more... lets just hope these books are actually as good as they sound.

As for Larfleeze I really REALLY dont see how he could hold a monthly title all on his own... I'd have rather gotten an Emerald Knights anthology book showcasing multiple short stories of various Corps members (just like the animated movie) or a Baz book (even though I'm not that big a Baz fan)

But we'll see... I think Judd Winnick may have been a better choice than Giffen given that Larfleeze is a bit of a comic relief and I think this book should be hilarious!!!

Anyway, super excited about all books! Cant wait!
Canon38 - 3/9/2013, 10:23 AM
The reason why Guy Gardner joins the red lanterns? Maybe because he was made gay.
TheFox - 3/9/2013, 10:39 AM
Horray! I now know with absolute certainty that Hal is still alive and Kyle is still a White Lantern at the end of the First Lantern story! Goodbye, tension!

Okay, Geoff Johns would NEVER end a story with a down ending, so of COURSE Hal makes it out okay... but still, these solicitations aren't doing his story any favors.

Regardless, I can't WAIT to read the end of the First Lantern story, and see what Geoff has in store for his grand finale!

TheFox - 3/9/2013, 10:41 AM
Also... I kinda wonder what happened to Sinestro...

And Simon Baz, for that matter.

At least this doesn't spoil EVERYTHING.

OrionPax - 3/9/2013, 10:44 AM
Hal is the leader??FINALLY!!!!The once and future king!
OrionPax - 3/9/2013, 10:45 AM
And Kyle as the White Lantern is pretty badass as well!
AraxisHT - 3/9/2013, 3:07 PM
There is a beautiful lack of Baz and a slightly disappointing lack of John Stewart.
Space - 3/9/2013, 4:37 PM
Why does Larfleeze look like a dog? He should look like this!

Fastestmanalive - 3/9/2013, 4:45 PM
hhhmmm not sure about most of these.

GL, besides for changing the status quo thats been around forever, namely the guardians running things, Hal being the leader kinda goes against his whole character, Hal is fun becuz hes a free spirit who is a bit irresponsible and a bit of a rebel who is not serious most of the time, him being the leader of the entire corps takes that all away, not so sure this is the best move or if this is the end of the Hal we know and love.

Larfleeze looks cool, just hope it dosent try to take itself too seriously and is just wacky and straight out fun.

Red lanterns looks interesting but who is Gardener with? green or red?

new guardians Im also skeptical, I mean I know Kyle is the main focus but where are the other colored lanterns? also based on the cover art looks crappy.
Fastestmanalive - 3/9/2013, 4:57 PM
But at least no more Baz, that guy was so lame.
Fastestmanalive - 3/9/2013, 5:10 PM
Also in the GL description it says that the GLC is the most feared and hated in the universe? huh?
DCjohnny - 3/9/2013, 5:35 PM
guy Gardner looks like gambit in the red lantern cover ...

and can't wait to read green lantern ...
Hal Jordan rocks...
