Miss Manapul...
LMB10 - 4/27/2014, 4:34 AM
oh good
Mastyrwerk - 4/27/2014, 4:40 AM
Tron Flash?
JohnnyWellens - 4/27/2014, 4:45 AM
I don't want to hear anything about wanting Manapul back. He and his terrible partner screwed the entire Flash legacy over and ruined The Rogues, they don't deserve the respect associated with The Flash. These guys now suck for going along with a pointless needless change to a character for the sake of "mixing it up." They said in an interview it was DC's idea to make him bi-racial and they went along with it, shame on them. I despise DC now, I hate their entire New 52 save for Aquaman who received a much needed update to badass. I know I'm being negative, but the New 52 turned my entire world upside down with The Flash and changed so many other characters. I'm done with DC, counting down the days until the universe is rebooted again. It's the only way they'll get my money again.

this new politically correctness coming into the movies and comics is just silly.

Not really any point to making him black unless they want to tie it into the TV show. Anyways, hopefully his personality remains intact.

We need more black heroes out there because they're cool. Jus look at the Avengers Nick Fury and Captain Americas' The Falcon.
connor110693 - 4/27/2014, 5:18 AM
@johnnywellens........ Your hate for buccaleto and manipul is wrongly directed they left flash after reverse of flash arc and I personally loved there run..... It's Robert vendetti and van jenson taking this over and there decision for the colour change, I also dislike there writing due to how poor they've change green lanterns series after the high of Geoff johns. I also can't hate the new 52 as its what's got me into comics and led me to collecting dc and marvel sooooooo
JohnnyWellens - 4/27/2014, 5:29 AM
@connor110693....... Oh I'm aware that this Wally is because of the new writers/DC execs that started after the Reverse-Flash story, that I hated. I dislike Manapul and Guy #2 because I disliked what they did with The Flash from the beginning of the run to the end. It was the changes they made. I thought it was stupid to give The Rogues powers, to change the Reverse-Flash, to remove the Barry and Iris relationship, remove The Flash legacy by having no connection between Jay, Bart and Barry, etc. Everything that I loved about The Flash was removed and I hate DC, Manapul and Bucc(however it's spelled) until The Flash is back to the series I adored.
blackagar94 - 4/27/2014, 5:31 AM
This is wrong. If you want a bi-racial character, create a new one, don't change an existing character, same goesfor sexuality.. I don't mind changes in the context, story, even haircut and maybe hair colorand costume etc., but you don't change a character's skin color just for the sake of it. People love this character, and not just for what he does but also for the look associated to him. But this is the Johnny Storm debate all over again.
TheOverlord - 4/27/2014, 5:32 AM
If he doesn't look or act like Wally, why are we calling him Wally? Why don't we just create a new character? This is bogus.
Killersloth - 4/27/2014, 5:45 AM
As long as he retains the same personality, what does the slight change in the pigmentation of his skin matter?
CameronGray - 4/27/2014, 5:48 AM
Will DC ever revert back to the original continuity or is it new 52 from here on out
skullboy - 4/27/2014, 5:48 AM
Fcuk you DC!
Geeksiah - 4/27/2014, 5:53 AM
The Geeksiah Speaks!!!!!

I swear you people don't get it and by you I mean you set in your ways geeks.

New characters rarely last thank to people like you clinging to the past!
Let it go and accept it's DC's character not yours and it will do 0 to take away from the flash IP.

Dc new 52 needs heroes of color... I say go for it.

My only bitch is no red hair, Black people can have red hair (Thank you rapist Thomas Jefferson)

Killersloth - 4/27/2014, 5:56 AM
If the new 52 doesnt try new things then what is the point, at least give it a chance
SoFresh - 4/27/2014, 6:06 AM
I´m biracial, but damn ok we get it euqality and all, I just want my damned characters.
Killersloth - 4/27/2014, 6:09 AM
@Magnuss, he is a teenager so is wearing a hoody, nothing about that is "trademark "Trevon" (it's spelt Trayvon). I don't know why your mind instantly went to that, i'm sure most people didn't instantly think that.
And they are creating more characters, Simon Baz, Kamala Khan.
I think it might be interesting to see how Wally's situation got him to such a different place and how in time he might come back around to being the Wally you all know.
GarthRanzz - 4/27/2014, 6:13 AM
I like how ever hoodie is now linked to Trayvon. I am a white boy whose been wearing them since the nineties.
Malacos - 4/27/2014, 6:19 AM
I hate changing a characters race because it does affect who the character is! We need to create more diverse characters and not flip flop the race of our current characters! Its dumb and reeks of desperation and DC trying to score back all the brownie points they lost last year.

@Geeksiah New characters hardly last because we are forced to by 12 damn batman books if we're a batman fan or 7 different green lantern titles if we are a GL fan! No to mention these crossovers are getting really old really fast! Every three issues its another dang crossover!

That said, we need to restart Static Shocks comic with a new writer! Really Really like that guy.
DCfan89 - 4/27/2014, 6:32 AM
are you serious???? first off, I'm black/african american, or whatever the correct term is... (sigh). but this makes no sense.... I'm over DC comics. these characters i have grown up with since i can remember, 25 now, and they are making me hate picking up a DC comic... like.. this is ridiculous. Wally is a white male with red hair and green eyes.. what the heck is going on???
Killersloth - 4/27/2014, 6:33 AM
So they are being racist, but also pandering? And again it seems it was only obvious to you. Also how is a character traditional?
I'll say it again Kamala Khan is a great new character or are we ignoring that?
DCfan89 - 4/27/2014, 6:34 AM
this new 52 is soooo garbage. whoever is responsible... Jim Lee or whoever needs to be removed... asap
thebearjew - 4/27/2014, 6:43 AM
this political correctness is ridiculous
KeefNCookies - 4/27/2014, 6:49 AM
I have to agree with everyone commenting on changing original characters for the sake of change and publicity instead of making new characters that are unique and engaging. The New52 destroyed so much good and for what, a lot of mediocrity with all the big names. Their JLD/magic side of things is pretty good but thats because most of it is ex-Vertigo characters. Make another alternate universe if they want someone preexisting to be sexually, ethnically or otherwise different (like they did with Earth-2). Marvel's guilty of the same, most comics these days are just about making higher sales, not the care for consistency of the characters nor the pleasure of the fans.

I'll let my friends waste their money while I continue to waste my time, hoping maybe they'll realize all that they have lost as storytellers.
DatScarletPimPerNeLL - 4/27/2014, 6:54 AM
My apologies for what turned into a bit of a rant. Just had to sit the persona aside for a sec and give "briefly" *My Opinion* on the matter.

This HAS to be because of the show. I really can't say I'm behind this particular "idea" of a "change" for my personal favorite iteration of the character. I feel as some do, who argue that the writers who invoke such 'tweekings' are doing so less for the past or current canon of said character and perhaps more for the sake of cashing in on 'the times' and calling it a 'progressive' move in the diversity of characters we're given; I do feel as if they(the writers/e.i.c) occasionally miss the point.

Why are writers apprehensive about giving us fresh, brand new characters that can still be worked into the narrative of the heroes we've come to love? If it's so difficult to write for a character who's background is ethnically different from most, then maybe make the 'drastic changes' to the stable of writer's/editor's room and think tank instead of 'fast-food' rebooting these characters and actually compromising/alienating the connection that have long been established, prior to boardroom meeting talking points becoming cashpoints for the sake of company revenue. Is it even the fault of the writer or are they subject to the whims of their company's ever $hifting policies in regards to diversification of comics and past characters with the quick fix method of making one, two or three characters a different shade, gender, advocate of a social class etc..

Make no mistake, I feel that truly, the only color of concern ultimately for these companies is GREEN; perhaps that's why these 'quick fix' character overhauls are the trend. At the same time, I can't help but feel it also does more harm than good in the sense that race and diversity has always been a point of contention in the country where many, if not all the fan favorite characters and storylines originated. All that being stated, I can also say that even though I really don't care for this particular change, I'll try to see where it goes. I may like aspects of the writing and even the character, but It does not mean I will be fully on board with the plan; but I can also be decent about it. No need for it to bend me out of shape invoking fact, fiction, myth and agenda beyond the scope of common sense, because that would be more telling of my personality than my love or disdain for the medium that currently begs to queries and controversy; after all,it's fantasy.

"So they are being racist, but also pandering? And again it seems it was only obvious to you. Also how is a character traditional?I'll say it again Kamala Khan is a great new character or are we ignoring that?"

Exactly! What infallible logic and intellectual prowess to catch DC at their two-faced, dirty game. The Young Conservatives Against Political Correctness of strike again.

You would think some of this site was running for office with some of these comments. This is getting slightly out of hand, its a comic when all is said and done.
KallarkKent - 4/27/2014, 7:09 AM
Golly, not sure if I like this Wally. I'll have to see him within context of the but this is too much of a departure of a beloved character.
Killersloth - 4/27/2014, 7:19 AM
So what is this all leading to then Magnuss66?
IminentEminence - 4/27/2014, 7:32 AM
When I read some of these comments I can't help but wonder how you gentlemen felt about desegregation in America. How exactly is diversity being forced on you in a extracurricular vehicle for entertainment purposes? Do you guys not understand the concept of "forced"? If you don't like it, no one is putting a gun to your heads to buy it. You're not being mandated to watch these movies or shows either. Most of you weren't patronizing any of these things as it is. Yet, you're here bellyaching as if it were the end of the free world.
