COMICS: 2012 Set For Avengers #1 From Brian Michael Bendis And Mark Bagley?

COMICS: 2012 Set For Avengers #1 From Brian Michael Bendis And Mark Bagley?

We're not yet 20 issues into the current Avengers series from Marvel, but the latest rumor is that the release of the Joss Whedon directed movie will mean yet another comic book relaunch from the Ultimate Spider-Man creators...

With a movie on the way, it shouldn't exactly come as a surprise that Marvel are planning yet another relaunch to coincide with a big screen adaptation. Captain America, Iron Man and THOR all resulted in the debut of #1 comic books, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are next according to a recent report.

Bleeding Cool has been told that around that time we may expect to see a new Avengers #1, by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, the creative team that brought us Ultimate Spider-Man and their new creator owned series, Brilliant!

So, how much do you want to bet that The Amazing Spider-Man will have a similar effect on the wall crawling superheroes comic book? I have to say, I'm not a fan of this idea that every time a new movie hits, we need a new #1 issue. I can appreciate that Marvel are trying to attract new readers, but at least including the original numbering somewhere on these comics would be nice for longtime readers/collectors I think. Be sure to share your thoughts below and stay tuned for more details as and when we have them...

Will be a good time for non comic book readers to jump on the comic bandwagon. It's obvious promotional to tie-in with the movies release (if true).

I don't mind either way.
machinehead - 10/10/2011, 5:14 PM
wtf again
marvel72 - 10/10/2011, 5:18 PM
this is stupid,i hate all this rebooting/reseting.

just leave the comics alone.
Reasonnnn - 10/10/2011, 5:20 PM
"just like the holocaust...NEVER AGAIN!'
OdinsBeard - 10/10/2011, 5:20 PM
Clean up the roster. keep all the main four, add spider-man. drop wolverine. from there i don't care. but it should seriosuly only be like 7-9 characters.
Tymminator - 10/10/2011, 5:20 PM
RE: Avengers, Marvel just did a new number 1, but it was NOT a reboot. Outside of a new starting point, nothing history wise was restarted.

That said, it still freaking annoyed me. Bendis does this to his powers sereis too, after ever so many issues, he starts a new number 1 and a new volume. Damn, I hate that.
OdinsBeard - 10/10/2011, 5:22 PM
Iron Man
Black Widow
Ms. Marvel

Luke Cage
Iron Fist

Hank Pym

Maybe all four of those. but keep it simple.
csdot - 10/10/2011, 5:31 PM
Mark Bagley? no thanks.
alexi52 - 10/10/2011, 5:44 PM
bendis again how many avengers #1 has writen
TheStranger - 10/10/2011, 5:51 PM
no they aren't posing DC they're capitalizing on the incoming mass popularity of the movie...duh!
therj00 - 10/10/2011, 5:57 PM
Marvel does this re-numbering thing ALL the time for sales, DC sort of pulled a marvel with the relaunch, but at least they relaunched it all, even if it was just for marvel
MJPETTY7 - 10/10/2011, 5:58 PM
"We don't let anything DC does determine what we do. We have the superior characters." - Joe Quesada.

Hannibal_King - 10/10/2011, 6:09 PM
Get rid of Bendis, and get rid of the $3.99 price tag reducing it to $2.99 an issue.
That's the only way I'll buy The Avengers again.
redkrypton - 10/10/2011, 6:26 PM
Just plain dumb. I can understand (though I do not agree with) the idea of resetting the numbering of a comic that is of a high number. To turn around and promptly renumber, reboot, whatever you want to call it, a book so early into a run is just dumb. It is a silly gimmick, almost as dumb as the "decimal" issues not too long ago. The sad thing is, people fall for it.
Mrcool210 - 10/10/2011, 6:41 PM
if bendis is writing, im in
batmanrises - 10/10/2011, 6:50 PM
DC setting the trends like always...

Every time there's a Crisis, Marvel has a War.

Blackest Night and everyone getting a lantern ring, Marvel gives everyone a Thor hammer.

What's next, Mary Jane Watson getting Spider-Powers just like when Lois Lane...? Wait...Too soon? ;)
Moakynubs - 10/10/2011, 6:56 PM
Oh god yes.

I hope this is a rumor, seriously this is really starting to turn me off of comic books as a whole.
SageMode - 10/10/2011, 7:10 PM
52 DC Relaunch = Ultimate Marvel. :-). LOL. jk
SageMode - 10/10/2011, 7:10 PM
Ive never really been a Bagley art. SMH. mm mm mm
superwolverine - 10/10/2011, 7:12 PM
why would anyone with half a brain support another relaunch so soon? honestly how stupid some of these comments are.
StuckInPanels - 10/10/2011, 7:14 PM
I actually don't mind this, whenever a title or book gets a new #1 I think it helps especially if its going to have a new set of heroes. Would Ghost Rider make any sense now if they kept the number with the recent new Ghost Rider host. I personally think the Avengers title is too cluttered with so many heroes. The Avengers should be a set roster of 9 heroes, each with their own unique power set, whereas the recent title has 20 members with plenty of similar powers. Hopefully it will become either a new team composed of members less seen or a classic group that fits perfectly. I don't really care about numbering or collecting, I just read it for the characters and escapism. As long its enjoyable, thats all that matters for me
BooYah - 10/10/2011, 7:16 PM
Captain America
Iron Man
Mrs. Marvel

That's an all star roster!
marvel72 - 10/10/2011, 7:22 PM
dc 52 reboot is copying marvel, marvel have been releasing number 1 issues of all their major heroes/teams over the last few years.

-the avengers
-new avengers
-secret avengers
-captain america
-moon knight
-uncanny x-force

& loads more i haven't listed, also marvel zombies was before blackest night.

StuckInPanels - 10/10/2011, 7:24 PM
@Marvel72.....that and Marvel Zombies is a more fun book that embraces the dark concept
StuckInPanels - 10/10/2011, 7:26 PM
Since everyone is doing it, My Roster for the relaunch will be:

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor or Tanarus
Wasp (if she returns)
Ms. Marvel
Black Widow
DarthTesla - 10/10/2011, 7:42 PM
@Intruder: Silvestri's the man and I would love that.
batmanrises - 10/10/2011, 7:46 PM
Bendis is an attention whore, he'll just stick Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Daredevil and ...let's say Mickey Mouse...Snooki and Justin Beiber in the Avengers.
BooYah - 10/10/2011, 7:58 PM
@Intruder- I see your point. If I had to pick 7 I'd probably pick same as yours except replace Scarlet Witch with Wasp. Or at least put her in the S.H.I.E.L.D team. lol @ the S.W.O.R.D that would be a kick ass team but what would S.W.O.R.D stand for?

In the end as long as Vision is in the Avengers I'm happy. He's one of the coolest Avenger characters imo.
JustDame - 10/10/2011, 8:14 PM
I don't see a problem.
Chewtoy - 10/10/2011, 8:32 PM
Does Bendis have to be hit by a truck before we get a fresh take on the team?
machinehead - 10/10/2011, 9:32 PM
all this rebooting is wast of our money
Highways - 10/10/2011, 9:34 PM
Marvel is in a bad spot of its own making. they have known for some time when the movie is due out yet chose the most recent relaunch when they did. Now another relaunch looms and it highlights for readers that marvel does not care at all anymore about quality or consistency. Marvel is sinking its own ship. I have zero interest in another Avengers relaunch and Marvels price point means the company has to work harder for my money than they seem willing or capable of.
StuckInPanels - 10/10/2011, 9:51 PM
@Gasmasquerade..... Titles getting created around a movies release is nothing new, Wolverine, X-men, Deadpool, Iron Man, Spider-man, Thor, Hulk, Avengers. No matter the name its a constant practice where a comic company would create a bunch of books in an effort to lure in new readers or allow current readers to see a fresh new story. Marvel does what Marvel does best, tell stories, even if its a new #1 we are getting a fresher take that hopefully removes the bloated, cumbersome team that Bendis has created, in this future case, hopefully less is more where the team is a smaller one that should be the best of the best, not everyone gets in deal like this run has been.

Marvel is willing to compete with DC but it will not do what DC did with a relaunch. They would have to do a serious campaign to do so, having books end properly rather than abruptly as DC did it. Bring in core teams to write and draw these characters as either individuals or teams. Where they are in their Timeline I highly doubt a relaunch is anywhere in its future since we saw the timeline in the first arc of the Avengers. Post Fear Itself hints that the next event is Ultron War. Issue 5 has many things that happened or are happening. However what is beyond the Ultron war is still unknown.
smithonator - 10/10/2011, 9:58 PM
@Chewtoy- LMAO

@Gaston-Now THAT is a superhero team!
smithonator - 10/10/2011, 10:00 PM
@EasterBunnyKiller- No one could have said it better.
GiftedYoungster - 10/10/2011, 10:11 PM
This is nauseating. Luckily I've never cared for the Avengers.
DarkKnight7 - 10/10/2011, 10:39 PM
I don't know if you guys are into this band called awolnation and this isn't comic related but I found this video of there single from some kid who is in film school, i think he made this one for fun. ITs pretty good. So check it out.
grandizer74 - 10/10/2011, 10:48 PM
I read an article a while ago saying comic book sales weren't getting the boost expected from all the movies. if true, I don't see the point in this, if people aren't going from the movies to the books.
