a z-list villain who's gonna hit the big time in this event.
HOTSHOT - 5/26/2014, 11:53 AM
Well, so far the first issue showed real promise. They actually focused on the characters and narrative instead of cutting to big flashy Superhero smack down. I hope this will finally make me believe in good Marvel events again.
Jollem - 5/26/2014, 11:54 AM
that strange cover reminds me a little of greg & tim hildebrandt

@Josh - i read your article through the zergnet thing on the 10 things about spider-man 2. good read

Jollem: That's awesome to hear, thanks! Here's one for X-Men: Days of Future Past that you might enjoy. :)

Awesome covers

Who's the iron man/rocketeer-looking fella with the trench coat?
patrat18 - 5/26/2014, 12:14 PM
Boring so far. Getting better though.
KalElOdinson - 5/26/2014, 12:16 PM
Infinity was a very good event. If you haven't read it yet you should.
KalElOdinson - 5/26/2014, 12:18 PM
I'm starting to think this is the past where Tony Stark goes bad guy in the black suit.
JoshWilding - 5/26/2014, 12:24 PM
I had no idea who the guy in the suit/Thing lookalike was either, but it's Doctor Midas, some obscure Marvel Boy villain apparently.
RetroFit - 5/26/2014, 12:25 PM
I hear the worlds 'Marvel Event' and I immediately worry about what horrible thing Joe Queseda has cooked up this time:

But this actually seems pretty good and a departure from the ridiculousness of several recent events:
dethpillow - 5/26/2014, 12:29 PM
@Josh - ha. i was just gonna say exactly the same thing.

cuz i had to look up his daughter too, i thought maybe she was new.

but i was wondering as a read it... why is not a big deal and mystery that there's this other Thing as one of the villains?

strange thing is tho, i just happened to find out who Marvel Boy is about a week ago too. found all these Agents of Atlas comics in the cheap bins and bought a bunch. actually some pretty rad stuff, fun style to it and good writing.

@Retrofit - yeah, so far, so good. Infinity was actually the first event that I followed as it happened and didn't feel entirely disgusted by at the end. I kinda lost interest, it had it's problems, but actually a good comic book event for one out of Marvel. or maybe i need to go back and actually read some of their smaller events.

I just quit paying attention as hard as I could to those for a long time.

some of Infinity is just perfect. Like I think Black Order is instant Marvel history. they just fit in the second I saw them. I loved how Atlantis was already sacked by Wakanda by the time Thanos' people got there.
And his conquering of Wakanda was cool to see. All that stuff, to me was perfect.

and all the space stuff was actually just the tip of the iceberg for Hickman on the next year or so it sounds like. good stuff is gonna be coming out of the big Avengers books, really classic stuff I think.
TonyMasters - 5/26/2014, 12:40 PM
Lol!!! The Orb??? The old Ghost Rider villain?!?! Lmao!!! Idk why but I laughed then I was happy...
NovaCorpsFan - 5/26/2014, 12:46 PM
I'm yet to pick up any of this.
rabid - 5/26/2014, 1:03 PM
After that last sloppy issue, I'm not sure I care what happens further. They really scraped the bottom of the barrel for this series' villains.
LordHuck - 5/26/2014, 1:26 PM
This looks pretty bad.........The #$%&ing Orb???????
damntree - 5/26/2014, 1:49 PM
Really? That eyeball...
GreenLanternLad - 5/26/2014, 1:59 PM
Been a good read thus far. Artwork is really nice, and I'm interested in seeing where they are going with this and possibly the marvel universe!
SuperBond - 5/26/2014, 2:14 PM
Can someone please inform me to who the eyeball guy is & also the guy sitting behind the desk wit the trench coat
marvel72 - 5/26/2014, 2:43 PM
series as been good so far, hard to say at this point if it is better than infinity.

@ superbond

the orb not sure of the guy in the trench coat, maybe rocket man or the rocketeer.
SimpleeComplex - 5/26/2014, 4:00 PM
Ur kidding rite?! Marvel's company wide "events" recently have been so sh!tty.
dethpillow - 5/26/2014, 9:59 PM
@Simplee - really, u felt like Infinity was just plain shitty?
i mean it wasn't perfect. just the whole concept of events is kind of almost sure to drag things down majorly, but i thought Infinity was decent at least for the Earth slant of the story. that stuff was great up until the conclusion and all the silly Inhumans living in the desert and Thane stuff. whatever.

and the space stuff was silly, yeah. it was dense and stupid at the same time is what it felt like. not stupid. Hickman is never 'stupid', but it was dense and flimsy at the same time. which i guess sums up most events, u know?

I hate how supporting issues of events, also, pretend to do this whole schtick of battle of empire from the point of view of a bunch of ants. like it'd be good if they did this honestly, and if events had this feeling too. that goes against "events" in general I suppose tho.

and it's actually not a schtick in itself, it just becomes that when you aren't being honest about it, and that's what divides good support issues and miniruns from the type of stuff that feels so awful.

dethpillow - 5/26/2014, 10:11 PM
@Superbond - it was talked about up there. the Iron Man suit guy is really a minor villain, his name is Doctor Midas. look him up, that's what i did after reading the issue. and I'm saying that cuz there's really not much to say about him.

actually i looked up his daughter's name, Oubliette Midas, who i'd never heard of either and that led me to him. apparently, he looks like Thing. and I guess has an Iron Man suit and something about him having the powers of the FF combined.

there's this whole weird pocket of Marvel that I wanna read some books on now. little things from different directions have all been popping up about this underbelly. underbelly to me, at least. like look up Atlas and Agents of Atlas. Gorilla Man ( I think ), Marvel Boy, Jimmy Woo?, Siren. and Namora is associated with them too. oh and there's this guy called 3D Man.

it's really bizarre stuff, it reminds me, so far, the few stuff I've read recently, of some of the things I love best about DC.

DC's own brand of crazy.
which they seem to be embarrassed of now or in some kind of denial about. achh! growing pains.
or kinda like that feel of Moore's Terra Obscura and Tom Strong, like all that more pulpy but spooky type of superhero thing going on. but not as dark. i'm talking about more recent Atlas issues that I happened upon.
dethpillow - 5/26/2014, 10:32 PM
@Superbond - ok i read more about this just now and Atlas was the company name between Timely and Marvel. so all this makes sense now. about these characters.
at least what i was wondering about. cool little history lesson i got from this last issue of Original Sin. nice.

i really like these issues of Agents of Atlas that i read tho. they were written by Jeff Parker, who did some Thunderbolts and does some Batman'66 currently. and maybe more stuff that I'm not aware of.

Namora is gorgeous too, i've realized now. she always grossed me out before.
beane2099 - 5/26/2014, 10:55 PM
Marvel Boy was a great mini series from Grant Morrison back in 2000. I never thought I'd see Marvel Boy again and then he became an Avenger. Glad to see Midas popping up again too. I think Marvel is getting ready to release a reprint Marvel Boy. I highly recommend it. He fights all kinds of crazy stuff like a living corporation. The government sends in these guys called the Banner Men. They're soldiers bolstered with Super Soldier Serum, skeletons laced with adamantium and have been irradiated with gamma rays allowing them to hulk out.

That eyeball keeps stairing at me.... :/
AontheheadStarontheChest - 5/27/2014, 3:31 AM
i like how they used the new Moon Knight suit, been reading the new Ellis run of Moon Knight.

probably will wait for Original Sin to finish before picking this up. can anyone confirm if this is just an 8 issue run?
DarthDan - 5/27/2014, 6:55 AM
Confirmed Star on the Chest; with multiple tie-in arcs..
Lostcause - 5/27/2014, 9:00 AM
Yes The Orb. Yes, that is funny. I dig the read and art for sure. The tie in's are great too.
Spektor96 - 5/27/2014, 9:12 AM
Is this series good? It does look interesting,I'll probably wait till the trade comes out...
rabid - 5/27/2014, 10:33 AM
I wouldn't call it good. I probably just buy it because it features Uatu and classic Fury.
