he ain't dead. too much juicy story to mine, specially when he meets 60's version of himself!!
BruceLeroy - 9/13/2012, 8:09 AM
Dude obviously isn't dead. He's on the first Marvel Now image with a new costume.
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 8:09 AM
I look forward to exiled, loner, wandering version of Scott Summers, ala Kung Fu, complete with 5 oclock shadow and a gigantic guilt complex!
Hammer420 - 9/13/2012, 8:09 AM
Color me surprised....
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 8:10 AM
Yeh that's assuming thats the present version (which it probably is). Big question is "where the hell is he gonna pop up after all this over?".
Nobody would want him around, what book is he gonna live in after this? I assume most rational XMen would hightail it to Wolverin'e school?
JoshWilding - 9/13/2012, 8:14 AM
If they kill Cyclops (after already butchering the character during Avengers Vs. X-Men) I may just stop reading Marvel altogether. Until Namor attacked Wakanda, all the Phoenix Five did was make the world a better place while the Avengers did nothing but attack them. However, the success of The Avengers movie has of course meant that the X-Men have been portrayed as the villains since day I wish Axel Alonso wasn't E-i-C.
toco89 - 9/13/2012, 8:17 AM
I'm not buying. Cyclops s too entertaining after a huge crisis in how well he deals with the aftermath of these sort of situations(since he's prepared for every goddamned or blessed thing) and how he struggles with himself.

I'm more interested in how the hell they took him down. Or did he decide to take himself down like Jean.
InfiniteMonkey - 9/13/2012, 8:20 AM
Professor X dies.
NorrinRaddical - 9/13/2012, 8:21 AM
it'll be a crazy twist nobody saw coming when they bring Prof. X back in 2 years
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 8:21 AM
hey man, Axel Alonso's plan will end up with HAVOK in charge of the godamned AVENGERS. And Cannonball and Sunspot as full-fledged Avengers! Who the hell saw that coming??

this event, despite the criticism, has been memorable and surprising. and a nice payoff for 2004-era readers.

It's a natural evolution of Cyclops since the Decimation, and its gonna be fun seeing how bad he beats himself up over the next few years.

HAVOK! CANNONBALL! SUNSPOT! its a good day to be an XMan!! haha
Matt1212 - 9/13/2012, 8:23 AM
Where is the Thing's bulge? I'm just sayin.
RedSkull667 - 9/13/2012, 8:30 AM
It simply means that Pheonix is outta him. nothing else...
KrazyForKomix - 9/13/2012, 8:32 AM
Oh my. What will we do? Cyclops is dead! How will we go on?! This is to much to bear I tell ya! TOO MUCH!
First it was Captain America! Then . . . then Johnny Storm. *sniff*
And does anyone remember Hawkeye? I used to like him. He shot arrows.
and . . . don't get me started about them callously slaughtered the god of thunder.
GONE! I'll never see them again.

*sniff, choke, wheeze*

Dedpool - 9/13/2012, 8:34 AM
Oh no he's definitely not dead. Probably going to go into hdidng for a bit and reasses his life and goals. I mean he does end up killing the man that was basically his father.

If he is dead, then good, let him go be with Jean.
NightWingNut - 9/13/2012, 8:39 AM
I feel like they made it a point to really show that Rogue was there in issue #11. I wonder if Hope (being able to mimic nearby powers) will absorb the Phoenix force from Scott...hmmmm
Keldor - 9/13/2012, 8:41 AM
Marvel did such a good job developing the character of Cyclops overthe last several years. he used to be a snot nosed brat do gooder, but he has totally evolved into this commander and it really helped the character. For the first time Cyclops was a fully fleshed out character that was interesting finally. Now they go and pull this xmen vs avengers bullshit with the phoenix. It doesnt make sense to the character that they did such a good job developing. They are just throwing it away. They are throwing away cyclops just as they did Namor and Hulk. Is Rob LIEfeld writing this? Is it 1997 again?
AlcoholicA - 9/13/2012, 8:42 AM

AMEN f'N MEN brotha! I've written a couple books worth of comments of how they f'ed cyclops over during this series.
AlcoholicA - 9/13/2012, 8:44 AM
@ KrazyforKomix

lol, "He shot arrows"....
ATrueHero1987 - 9/13/2012, 8:44 AM
I don't buy, that cover can just simply mean that Phoenix Cyclops is defeated. Plus look at the All New X-Men connecting covers.
BlackWarrior - 9/13/2012, 8:46 AM
Yeah, I agree with RedSkull667, I don't think he's Dead, the Phoenix is just out of him and he is on the variant cover. He need to be alive so we can see how he deals with the aftermath and how everyone around him acts...
marvel72 - 9/13/2012, 8:48 AM
yeah its just showing phoenix cyclops has been defeated,he was on the marvel now promo poster & on the all new x-men 1 cover.
ATrueHero1987 - 9/13/2012, 8:51 AM
Again guys, according to Bendis, that's not Cyclops on the Marvel NOW promo poster. I still believe Cyclops will make through AvX.
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 8:53 AM
I'm amazed at so much hate in these Marvel comic articles. Has nobody enjoyed the last couple of years except for me?

I keep thinking how awesome its gonna be when the 60s XMen step out and see how f***ed the world is lol.

There'll be less of a divide in the XMen, the under-appreciated XMen are having a crack at Avengers books, the XMen are integrated fully into the goings on of the MU, isn't that what people want? i know its what I want at least.

And I don't see Cyclops as character-raped, not in the slightest. He's the alpha male, and the Phoenix pushed him beyond his own limits. NOw he's gonna have to deal with it all, and decide what actions were his, and what were the Phoenix's.

Getting other people to believe his view is gonna be the fun part.

This event also gave us a heap of Iron Fist. Seriously, I don't get the hate. its like everything i could've asked for! Plus most of the tie-ins have been totally readable.
KrazyForKomix - 9/13/2012, 8:57 AM
I applaud your gusto, and agree.

"I do believe in Cyclops. I do believe in Cyclops! I do, I do, I do, I DO!"
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 9:00 AM
@Stigmartyr: THANK YOU! lol godamn i swear its like EVERY single post about Marvel moves are negative. And i love it all to Hell, i was starting to think it was just me.
Coipel drew the CRAP out of that last ish of AVX. Hulk piledriving Emma, the mind-beach showdown with Prof, man it was all gravy!!
I'll admit I've gotten tired with Bendis on Avengers...but the man's been doing it for like 8 years, often on 2 different series simultaneously. i think he's just shot his Avengers load.
It'll be fun seeing what he does on XMen, cus man i LOVED his Moon Knight and his Spiderwoman series.

and Remender on Uncanny Avengers..and Aaron kicking on Wolverine & The XMen, some AMAZING talent, and great books! Can you just imagine Waid's Hulk series? (air punches)
SageMode - 9/13/2012, 9:01 AM
This would make my days so much more grand if this [frick]er dies. Gosh I hate Cyclops.
plasticman - 9/13/2012, 9:02 AM
Why do I feel like the X-men are getting the short end of the stick simply because Fox has the filming rights?

Wonder if Fox has any say in these types of situations since it can adversely effect their product?
thewolfx - 9/13/2012, 9:03 AM
[frick] cyclops

team wolverine bitch!
AC1 - 9/13/2012, 9:03 AM
It'd be an interesting turn of events if Cyclops (should he survive into Marvel NOW) becomes a villain. I'd love to see the dynamic between his past heroic self leading his team against his future, evil self. Plus it seems like a natural progression - people have been saying for a long time that Cyclops seems to be becoming the new Magneto, so...

...the fact that he seemingly kills Professor X could cement that fate, while fans of the heroic Cyclops get to see the past version time travel to the present with the original five and take on a new and interesting threat.
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 9:07 AM
@Plasticman: Wolverine & The XMen. Uncanny XForce. How exactly are Fox's interests being shortchanged? they're 2 of the best series Marvel's put out in years.
Uncanny XMen by Gillen was also supremo. The team had Namor, Magneto AND Psylocke in it for gods sake.
XMen are just being re-shuffled and re-assessed, same as happens every few years.
ps HAVOK LEADING AVENGERS! does that not tickle your X bone?
thebamf - 9/13/2012, 9:08 AM
I feel that the Phoenix Cyclops will die, but the 60's Cyclops will take his place. That gives Scott a chance at redemption.
ATrueHero1987 - 9/13/2012, 9:10 AM
@plasticman why would FOX have a say so? They own the films rights to those characters and that's it...
mawilli4 - 9/13/2012, 9:12 AM
I've been enjoying it as well. to me it seems like a natural evolution of the character of Cyclops, especially after Schism. The question is: what did Scott do and what did the Phoenix do? Personally, I think the copout will be that it was all the Phoenix. I wish they would say Scott, and go the unexpected route and make him a true villain much like Magneto was.

I mean he is flanked by Emma Frost and Magneto in the variant..
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 9:13 AM
@shawnb: its kinda more of a cop-out than redemption though, isn't it? "oh it wasn't me, it was other-me!!"

Id rather see Scott get dragged through the mud! call me a sadist haha. He deserves it at least a little bit.

It should have been a wake-up call, discovering that you're more hard-line than frickin Wolverine is lol.
jimoakley666 - 9/13/2012, 9:16 AM
I doubt he'll be able to lead a team again any time soon. We may see a version of Cyclops very similar to the version we saw in the cartoon Wolverine and the X-Men for a while now.
AlcoholicA - 9/13/2012, 9:16 AM

yeah they ARE getting the short-end of the stick. I yes i believe it has to do with filming rights. Soon they're wont be an X-Men because everyone will be an Avenger. I wonder if this has anything to do with determining the jurisdiction of X-Men who have not been used in film yet....After they move the big boys over, then they start moving smaller characters that haven't been used yet, then claim they are "Avengers" and have the rights.
xcrementus - 9/13/2012, 9:18 AM
When he shot Cap in AVX #1, i mentally hell-yessed.

Also, when he optic-crated Emma into next week, i also hell-yessed lol. BITCH WHORE!
AlcoholicA - 9/13/2012, 9:19 AM
Any by short-end i mean just in this event.
mpk1988 - 9/13/2012, 9:20 AM
I really wish Cyclops gets a chance to blow that tiny runt into bits and put him in his place... Wolverine is so annoying... lame ass loser..
