seriously marvel?
Humperdink - 7/10/2014, 9:36 PM
Oh no.
Don't do that.

Just leave his origin as is.
YeezusWept - 7/10/2014, 9:36 PM
Yay for retcons... [he said sarcastically]
Jollem - 7/10/2014, 9:38 PM
you know what? [frick] it, marvel. why don't you just drop all your other characters and just have iron man. you're wasting all your talent bothering with other characters. when i go to stores and comic shops, i don't want to see captain america or the hulk or spider-man or the x-men or the fantastic four on comics and merchandise. i only want iron man's hand in my face

ever think about changing your name from MARVEL to IRON MAN? think about it, it'd be killer
Starkasm - 7/10/2014, 9:43 PM
May have taken you seriously if you weren't such an Iron Man/RDJ hater from the get go, Jolly.
HurricaneXavier - 7/10/2014, 9:48 PM
Jollem seems really bitter.

GuardianAngel - 7/10/2014, 9:48 PM
Thus why I stopped reading comics...
Jollem - 7/10/2014, 9:48 PM
oh dear, you should never take me seriously. that'd be a mistake
HurricaneXavier - 7/10/2014, 9:50 PM
I think I called you the worst or the best troll ever in another post Jollem. :)
Jollem - 7/10/2014, 9:52 PM
it's none of my business what other people think of me :)
DeusExSponge - 7/10/2014, 10:01 PM
I hope it's just marketing bs and that it was all a mistake or that some villain is pulling the strings behind this. Rather have that cliche than have Iron Man being responsible for something Banner did to himself. It would take away from the Dr Jackal and Mr Hyde story Banner and Hulk has!
Dustellar - 7/10/2014, 10:22 PM
Original Sin = Retcons everywhere.
SuperiorMrGod - 7/10/2014, 10:25 PM
Jollems complaints are pretty justifiable here. I mean seriously?!? Why!? Intruding on orgin stories should just be banned. Expand upon things rather than go back and retcon things. This reminds me of that time Marvel thought it would be neat if Gwen went of to Europe to give birth to Normans kids. House of ideas is a pretty ironic appellation at this point.

Hmmmm.......can't see her so I'm going to assume she's a hottie. I have this other babe for ya! She'd love to meet you, once she's done saving the world's seafood!

loki668 - 7/11/2014, 3:50 AM
Of course, we could always go to THE hangout for men!!!

Jollem - 7/11/2014, 3:59 AM
i ate at a hooters one time. terrible food. worst chicken wings i've ever had. they have cuter waitresses at outback steakhouse. or deny's. or anywhere, pretty much
loki668 - 7/11/2014, 4:39 AM
Yeah, Hooters is usually a shit hole. Denny's?!? I haven't eaten at one of those in years!! Food used to be decent. Of course, I was usually eating it after a night out drinking, so that could have influenced the (lack of) memories.
Jay12678 - 7/11/2014, 7:43 AM
Soon! "Tony Stark created the spider that bit Peter Parker!"
Ramiel - 7/11/2014, 9:27 AM
While I dig the art, I don't like the idea of Stark being responsible for the creation of Hulk.
dethpillow - 7/12/2014, 11:09 AM
they're trying to make Bruce and Tony these figures pitted against each other.
they just aren't. never have been. in theory, yeah, they have opposing personalities and you could make an argument why they would butt heads. but it's just not there.

they aren't science bros either. Tony would probably most clash with Hank about science, while still getting along with him and finding something inspiring about his studies. Tony and Hank would make more sense as Science Bros.

Bruce has so much contempt for pretty much everyone that you don't see him relating to people very much, or getting involved in any of this stuff. that's what was annoying about the first issue, is that, on paper, everything was true to the characters, it just wasn't there, tho. Original Sin itself is turning out great, but all of the peripheral books so far are just silly.

which makes it really easy to see the gears churning behind the Event Machine. I'm hoping that the Tenth Realm thing with Angela might be good cuz it's more directly tied to Thor and Aaron's turf. it might actually make sense becuz of that.

i really didn't like anything Waid did with Hulk either. that was just a horrible match. and Gillen makes no sense on Iron Man either.

people earlier in these comments were talking about how Marvel might as well change their name to Iron Man (@Jollem, @SuperiorMrGod & @DestroyallTrolls) and actually that is so not true. it's true if you look at posters and merchandising and pajamas and stuff like that, but it's just not true about the comic books. how is Iron Man all over the place? Gillen's run has pretty much made him incomprehensible and irrelevant.

it's actually really strange to me that Marvel has let Gillen keep on with it. he's a great writer, so I kinda respect that in them, cuz he's been sinking Iron Man like a stone. he's just a horrible match for the character.

he should be on Captain Marvel. or even Gillen on Hulk would be really interesting, i think. Young Avengers was one of the best titles that Marvel had going on last year. I wish that would've just kept going, but i guess that's all he really had to say on that book.

actually, Gillen might do a great GOTG. which they need to take away from Bendis cuz he doesn't know the first thing to do with it. Gillen could totally write that.

But show me where Iron Man is hogging up all the space in Marvel Comics. where is that happening? he had a little run cameo on GOTG, but it was hardly anything to talk about. then next guest was Angela and for this next bunch we got Flash Venom guesting. it doesn't feel like they're getting shoved down anyone's throats. guest host on GOTG is just a pretty crappy gig if you ask me. where is this happening? surely not just based on this, right?
Jollem - 7/13/2014, 10:24 AM
don't lump me in with @DestroyallTrolls. i'm an actual, honest, knowledgeable fan of this stuff ;)
dethpillow - 7/13/2014, 2:36 PM
he's not in everything at all tho.. haha.
he just isn't. he's hardly in everything.
i wish there was some way to easily show this with facts.
cuz he's not in everything. it just seems like he is becuz he's on pajamas and frisbees and every Marvel ad you see. but he's really not in everyone's comic books much.
dethpillow - 7/13/2014, 2:38 PM
it's probably more accurate to say that Cyclops is in everything.
dethpillow - 7/14/2014, 5:43 PM
@DestroyallTrolls - yeah, we disagree. i wish i had the wherewithal to do a complete issue by issue, publisher wide investigation on this one. but i wouldn't want to just for an argument either. but yeah.

and i'm not some huge weird Iron Man fan. i have strong ideas about Tony Stark, but i sure don't like him much. Iron Man is actually one that i haven't read much at all of their total history. and i don't feel like i'm really missing out on a lot either, that's part of why it's like that. there's huge gaps in every title, certain runs i just never read, even Spider-Man, but Iron Man is especially one i just have no interest in filling in those gaps. in a lot of ways, i totally despise Tony Stark. so it's not based on that at all.

but yeah, we disagree. i think the sky is blue, you think the sky is green. that's fine, there's always differences in what color we all think the sky is.

dethpillow - 7/14/2014, 9:12 PM
@Destroyalltrolls - right on man. haha.

we just gotta do something about Jollem for goodness sakes. :)
