About as uncreative as you can get.

stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself :P

This fits into the much larger story Hickman is telling in New Avengers. Looks like in this story we're going to see the Avengers finally figure out what the Illuminati have been dealing with as well as how.

I like the Super Adaptoid in small doses. This is a very different take on that character or in this story - characters.
beane2099 - 2/25/2014, 5:01 PM
I might add that these alternate Avengers and the Super Adaptoids are separate characters too.
campblood - 2/25/2014, 5:06 PM
meh might be fun

Marvel needs a hard reboot.
Action - 2/25/2014, 5:14 PM
@AlSimmons-I know, can Marvel get some help in the comics department. Jeez, how many times are the characters going to fight each other?

Marvel, keep making them movies because comics and cartoons are not at their best.
BubSnikt - 2/25/2014, 5:16 PM
@grif and Interestein when they are bringing the original xmen and the original avengers back, you know it's time for a reboot. They're rebooting the original characters, but not the continuity. And new 52 is so much better than the shit marvels putting out
Embassada - 2/25/2014, 5:40 PM
There are currently a few gem comics being put out in marvel like daredevil, Hawkeye, uncanny avengers and possibly she-hulk. Overall, all there other comics have been overwhelming and it seems like that most of them aren't focused and seem unengaging. I hope they step up the quality of their comics to match the quality of their movies.
Vegeta - 2/25/2014, 5:59 PM
Marvel need to reboot. It's for the best.
dippinchipz - 2/25/2014, 5:59 PM
Marvel has a few good titles. Thor being my personal favorite but I love the new guardians run as well as a few others. This however looks very uninteresting.
MangySaddle - 2/25/2014, 6:04 PM
HAHAHA They should have the modern Avengers fight the past avengers to the death, the past Avengers win, then the Marvel Universe is rebooted without having to ignore continuity.
pesmerga44 - 2/25/2014, 6:06 PM

Why does Marvel need a reboot they are doing fine in sales compared to DC and there are still great titles that Marvel puts out. The thing about a reboot which DC has shown us can be handled absolutely terribly DC's continuity is so f ed up that they are still trying to figure out what events and when events happened.
bullitnut - 2/25/2014, 6:08 PM
Just me or does anyone else not like the way Caps uniform has developed over the last few years.
blkchi - 2/25/2014, 6:12 PM
Could not believe marvel getting bagged for having great continuity what's wrong with that or do the dcu reboot I like establishcharacters with the trade paperbacks how can u want reboots
dellamorte1872 - 2/25/2014, 6:31 PM
Do early versions of all characters fight each other? Like NEW MUTANTS versions of CANNONBALL and SUNSPOT?
Jolllem - 2/25/2014, 6:32 PM
In actuality these aren't the "past" Avengers; in fact, they're Avengers from an alternate earth that has been destroyed due the multiverse destroying itself with incursion events. Despite bearing the same physical appearance, these alternate Avengers are in fact evil and comparable to Dc's Crime Syndicate. Just another great example of how majority of the people on this site have never and don't read comics.
Jolllem - 2/25/2014, 6:35 PM
Don't think Marvel needs a reboot when they consistently dominate the competition with sales and market share. The stories have been taking the characters to new places showing that they aren't bygone like most of the DC lineup. Seriously, DC spent almost an entire year telling Batman's origin...again.
Pheezmatic - 2/25/2014, 6:42 PM
This bringing the 60's avengers to the future is just ridiculous. I love me some avengers books (even if they're 5-10 at a time), but even this is just not appealing to me. All New X-Men is awesome...This is just a bite and its stupid.
Pheezmatic - 2/25/2014, 6:45 PM
@SpideyFan yea i got all that when I was reading it, its just that I feel like just putting the avengers up against the bizzaro versions of themselves is just not really creative and it feels like they were just riding the coattails of the All New X-Men to visually have Avengers fighting past looking Avengers.
Jolllem - 2/25/2014, 6:48 PM
This is one of the few plot devices that is going to be used to expose The Illuminati as mass murderers.
MightyZeus - 2/25/2014, 6:48 PM
I like that cover but it seems that Marvel are really running out of ideas. Maybe it is time for Marvel to be rebooted.
Pedrito - 2/25/2014, 6:49 PM

The title of the article is incorrect. These ain't no past avengers, but those from an alternate Universe, probably following the Incursion storyline from New Avengers.

Still pretty gimmicky but not as lame as bringing past heroes into the future (again, after all new xmen).
JumpingSpider - 2/25/2014, 6:50 PM
Can't stand that helmet thing on Captain Marvel's head. She looks great in the rest of her uniform but that helmet is retarded.
BubSnikt - 2/25/2014, 6:51 PM
@Spidyfan I stopped reading MarvelNow avengers after the Ex Nihilo arc and picked up some of the Infinity tie-ins. So I do read some comics. And yes, you're better than me for buying this one
SuperiorMrGod - 2/25/2014, 6:51 PM
Marvel......why?! Why! Why do you feel the need to pit heroes against themselves every other week. It's just getting ridiculous
Minotauro - 2/25/2014, 6:55 PM
@spideyfan - "consistently dominate the competition with sales and market share."

No, they actually don't.

"The stories have been taking the characters to new places showing that they aren't bygone like most of the DC lineup. Seriously, DC spent almost an entire year telling Batman's origin...again."

They retold Batman's origin story once since the New 52. Where the [frick] are you getting this "again" from.

marvel72 - 2/25/2014, 6:56 PM
so it takes thor & hyperion to take down thor from the past.
Havensent - 2/25/2014, 7:02 PM
Looks like a ton of fun. Can't wait to read this.

Haters can kick rocks. GTFOH with those same-same whiny ass complaints.

No [frick]ing reboots you fools. You see what a travesty it's been for DC haven't you? Sheesh.
Jolllem - 2/25/2014, 7:02 PM
Batman Zero Year. The Dark Knights origin explored and overexposed more than Wolverine's past. If you look at last years sales, Marvel outsold and owned Market share over DC, Image, Dark Horse, and IDW.
JohnTom88 - 2/25/2014, 7:05 PM
Rebooting Marvel is total lost of ideas, dumbass. Yeah, just like the New 52 - rehashing origin stories and putting characters in new costumes.

Not resorting to total reboot means Marvel actually does something different than DC.

JohnTom88 - 2/25/2014, 7:07 PM
I assume old characters probably are super adaptoids

I don't know the real story is, so that's not spoilers.
BubSnikt - 2/25/2014, 7:09 PM
1 Batman 27 DC 115,492
2 Detective Comics 27 DC 88,702
3 Avengers World 1 Marvel 86,727
4 Justice League 27 DC 84,674
5 Superior Spider-Man 25 Marvel 77,311
6 All New X-Men 22.NOW Marvel 76,565
7 Superior Spider-Man 26 Marvel 72,591
8 Harley Quinn 2 DC 66,363
9 Avengers 25 Marvel 65,591
10 Justice League of America11 DC 65,365

Top 10 comics from Janurary. We have the top two being DC, then a Marvel at #3 (one of the many #1 issues). The next, DC. The following 3 are a marvel, but not avengers, who they are messing up the worst. Then Harley Quinn, and finally the Avengers. This new storyline and basing all of the characters of the movie adaptations is not working. Spider-Man and X-Men, who are not basing their stories off movies, are doing much better. Superior Spider-Man was original, and X-Men is kicking off a new event (so that really shouldn't count). Based on the large amount of events and #1's, it seems like Marvel really is in it for the money. Even Robert Kirkman agrees that while some of the comics are good, Marvel's long term plan is flawed.
VenomSpawnRises - 2/25/2014, 7:11 PM
"fan-favorite artist Salvador Larroca!"

Hahahahaha, that's a good one Josh.
LEOSTRATOR - 2/25/2014, 7:14 PM
Why is it dumb when the avengers fight their evil self but it's genius work when DC does forever evil? I don't get some of you guys.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/25/2014, 7:44 PM
Ha Ha Marvel has waaaay better books now than DC. DC is still stuck in the 90s riding on Jim Lee. Nothing interesting there at all.

Hickman's Avengers has been great...this current arc sucks I'll agree. Marvel is putting out some of their best stuff with Hawkeye, Waid's Daredevil, Avengers A.I., The Infinity event, All New X-Men....

Name some great books DC has going now...The stacks are pretty high at the comic shops...meanwhile I have to buy my Marvel stuff from ebay cuz it's sold out in the shops around me.

niknik - 2/25/2014, 7:47 PM
Marvel doesn't need a reboot. They just need a boot. A size ten right up their uncreative a$$e$. BubSnikt is right in that their plan is flawed. This tail wagging the dog bs of basing all their original print characters on the film versions with MarvelNow is a total crapfest.

They would be better served to just roll their universe back to Avengers Disassembled or Heroes Return or somewhere in that period before they started renumbering every title twice a year and changing characters appearances to match Hollywood costume designers specs, clean house of all editors and most writers and artists and bring back veterans that can create great stories while managing to maintain continuity longer than a week. Enough with sales gimmicks and marketing ploys and half baked, sloppily patched together "events".

btw, nobody noticed that Super Adaptoid cover is a copy of an Avengers classic.
TheArachnidAvenger - 2/25/2014, 8:27 PM
Soooo these aren't the avengers from past but from an alternate reality?
so are they from earth three too?
