FantasticSpidey - 2/25/2014, 9:44 AM
Iron Patriot literally did nothing in Iron Man 3. He certainly didn't kick any ass.
TheClemster - 2/25/2014, 9:46 AM
what on earth is this????
manofsteel1942 - 2/25/2014, 9:47 AM
Too...much...weed. Sooo....high....can't....think...straight.
Klone - 2/25/2014, 9:49 AM
Are people still going to try and deny that Marvel doesn't whore out to the movies to the point where's it's embarrassing or painful?
Klone - 2/25/2014, 9:50 AM
The comics at this point are more like expensive, excessive advertising of the CU.
Tainted87 - 2/25/2014, 9:56 AM
I thought it was great when Osborn made himself the Iron Patriot. Total mockery of Iron Man AND Captain America. Now we're just getting stupid.

Also, when did Rhodey get rebuilt? I thought he was more or less a cyborg these days...

Doesn't look too bad, can't be worse than the Iron Man title is, but not really interested...just seems to be done solely because of Iron Man 3...maybe it'll turn out well, but already get enough titles, so have to pass on this
BezierCurve - 2/25/2014, 9:58 AM
Art looks fantastic.
IronManny819 - 2/25/2014, 10:04 AM
War Machine rox
Dunejedi - 2/25/2014, 10:06 AM
Without Osborne in the suit, the whole point of Iron Patriot fizzles out. Plus, War Machine is a WAY cooler name. Not interested.
gaikinger - 2/25/2014, 10:07 AM
They always get crap artists and writers on this title.
VictorHugo - 2/25/2014, 10:11 AM
heey, wasn´t Rhodey in the comics all injured and cyborg like?

What´s with this sketchy art? Look as bad as ALIAS
third3ye - 2/25/2014, 10:14 AM
Art looks awful.
sinthegreat - 2/25/2014, 10:16 AM

Deadpool101 - 2/25/2014, 10:34 AM

sinthegreat - 2/25/2014, 10:39 AM

Why are people still going to harp on Marvel using their comics as advertising for their movies?

It's the way they do business, it's working, don't buy and read the comics if you don't agree. Very simple. Marvel has top market share almost every month. Something they are doing is working.

If DC had a movie universe, they'd be doing the same thing. Cliff Chiang's wildly popular Wonder Woman series is ending this year. Let's see if the new Wonder Woman is drawn in Gal Gadot's likeness. My money is on yes.

When your movies are cracking a billion dollars, yes, you cater to your cinematic universe. From all that we've read so far, it appears that James Rhodes will be a major player in the future of the MCU. Why not do everything you can to get his name out there? Iron Man wears more than one armor, why can't Rhodey utilize War Machine and Iron Patriot?

Marvel is a business, not your personal storytellers.. If you don't like it, do better.
VictorHugo - 2/25/2014, 10:53 AM
Sinsear912 - they gave that role to Heimdall.
NinjaKickTheDamnRabbit - 2/25/2014, 10:59 AM
Pass, all Ironman stuff is shit
ThePowerCosmic - 2/25/2014, 11:24 AM

Who cares? The movies are awesome and super successful. It's called running a business and How is it whoring? They can use their properties however they want.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/25/2014, 11:26 AM

Really intelligent comment there. It really added to the conversation.

BIGGER POINT . . . Why don't they just use that god-awful, recently rebooted Ultimate Universe to do their cross promotion, corporate driven, watered down movie version story telling? It's very simple and you make more money that way! Two universes. All the true comic fans continue to support the heroes that have thrived for years in Marvel 616, and you A.D.D. movie fans can read about the way less remarkable Marvel Cinematic Heroes in the revamped "Ultimate Universe. Why not?

AS A MINOR POINT . . If it's only about being a business, about the dollar . . . then they'd make a lot more if they'd put a lot more female heroes on screen. And yes, they would be wearing the SAME skimpy costumes that they wear in the comics. "Gamora, the Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe" . . . yeeeaaah, riiiiggghhtt..
126thst - 2/25/2014, 1:10 PM

BIGGER POINT...Sorry can't agree. Marvel places the stories where they work best for them, not for you. Why put the stories in the ultimate universe when people (even the complainers) will still buy the comics in the main line? Oh, and let's not forget that when Marvel makes the movies and incorporates elements from the ultimate universe, you all complain that they are straying away from the character. Also, i'm not sure how my acceptance a company's business decisions makes me ADD, or if you even understand what that means, but nice one! You're super cool!!!

MINOR POINT...While I agree that an increased female presence would bring more females into the theatre, I can't agree with your assessment that they would be put into skimpy costumes is completely absurd. Studios are not trying to catch heat for the inappropriate portrayal of women on screen. The PR nightmare could hurt the studios profit..And that's what it's about. So I completely understand why the companies are taking their time to put these characters on screen.

You would say that Marvel is ruining comics with their movie influences. I would say people like you are holding back the genre as a whole. Good thing we all are entitled to our own opinions, as is Marvel.

TheRealRemyLebeau - 2/25/2014, 1:37 PM
Nothing wrong with this. Marvel are developing more of Rhodeys background with him having the iron patriot suit. If tony can have over 100 versions of his armor for different purposes why not rhodey. One suit to serve America's interest another war machine to get down and dirty. Smh at some of you fools. Good writing/ideas are infectious. So what if ideas from the universes in the comics serve the movies or vice versa. This comic is obviously meant for rhodey fans because lord knows he needs more love. This is a good move let's see if it last.
staypuffed - 2/25/2014, 1:47 PM
This looks super cool.
JorEllinator - 2/25/2014, 1:54 PM
Bit too late to tie into IM3, it being a year an all since. Besides, if the government want a symbol to protect the government, why resurrect the persona that terrorised the Marvel Universe and tried to commit mass genocide on the asgardians? Don't you think that would scare the public a bit?
Hellboy6666 - 2/25/2014, 2:49 PM
Good point ^^^
BubSnikt - 2/25/2014, 5:09 PM
The MCU is great and everything, but having the comics mirror the movie? It should be the other way around. I got into comics after the Avengers, and my first comic was X-Men. Had no relation to the MCU. Marvel should realize that it is easier to bring in new customers on quality rather than bringing new customers in, trying to trick them into thinking that it is an extension of the MCU. That's why I'm mostly DC and X-Men these days, aside from events
md1292 - 2/25/2014, 7:15 PM
In my mind, Norman Osborn will always be the one true Iron Patriot. Say what you will about Secret Invasion, I thought Dark Reign was a pretty good arc in Marvel comics. The best thing about it was Norman Osborn's perversion of Captain America and Iron Man in a 616 universe that was lacking both in one way or another. This Iron Patriot series (though it could be great) is clearly just Marvel cashing in on name recognition from it's cinematic universe.
rabid - 2/26/2014, 8:43 AM
I think it makes sense for Rhodey to reclaim the armor. The changes in his personality over the last few years have really made War Machine an unfitting name for him. Iron Patriot sounds better, although it would be nice if Black Sabbath could write a song about it.
BuckyCap - 2/26/2014, 3:25 PM
So, was Rhodey Iron Patriot prior to Iron Man 3? Or is this another instance of publishers making the comics more like the movies?
