COMICS: First Look At Artwork From Dan Slott And Humberto Ramos' AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1

Peter Parker is back, but it appears as if Dan Slott is about to once again shake things up for the beloved superhero because this unlettered preview of Amazing Spider-Man #1 reveals that Peter wasn't the only person to be bitten by the radioactive spider all those years ago. Check it out...

The world may have changed since Spidey’s been gone, but so has Peter Parker. This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it. Same Parker Luck, new Parker attitude. Putting the “friendly” back in the neighborhood, the “hero” back into “super hero,” and the “amazing” back into “Spider-Man!” Also returning: The recharged and reenergized ELECTRO!

Looks cool, but I wish Slott wasn't writing...
WombRaider - 4/1/2014, 2:26 PM
[frick]ing hate this artwork and slott has lost his skill. hes shit and trying too hard
Ramiel - 4/1/2014, 2:27 PM
It makes sense that the same spider that bit Peter would eventually bite someone as well. I like to see where this goes.
SuperiorMrGod - 4/1/2014, 2:28 PM
Finally Ramos is drawing big eyes
SuperiorMrGod - 4/1/2014, 2:28 PM
Maybe that has something to do with the new move........;)
SuperiorMrGod - 4/1/2014, 2:29 PM
Mrcool210 - 4/1/2014, 2:29 PM
that last shot of spidey swinging ugh, ramos learn to draw, his arm is bending he wrong way
Nick56 - 4/1/2014, 2:30 PM
Terrible art. Terrible writer.
Fastestmanalive - 4/1/2014, 2:30 PM
Really, really want to pick this up as I'm back into Spider-man since Superior but I really dont like that art.

The story seems cool with the spider biting someone else as well.
Interestein - 4/1/2014, 2:31 PM
I hate Slott's writing, and I hate Ramos' art. Marvel needs a better team on their most recognizable super hero.
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 2:31 PM
Cool idea, but it`s Slott, so it could go either way. Plus, I hate Ramos` style.
DrDoom - 4/1/2014, 2:36 PM
This is the same shit that happened to [frick]ing Tony Stark becoming adopted. Marvel allowing shit writers to [frick] over origins that have existed in the comics for OVER 50 YEARS.
NightForce - 4/1/2014, 2:37 PM
Hate the way they still make him look like his origins happened in the 60's. If it did he'd be 65 years old. I thought the sliding timescale is applied with set events in a comic book world.
SuperiorMrGod - 4/1/2014, 2:37 PM
I actually like the art somewhat. I just hate Dan Slott. He writes the most outlandish things for a beloved character.
xMichaelxScottx - 4/1/2014, 2:40 PM
I'm just excited Pete's finally back!
PeterParkour - 4/1/2014, 2:42 PM
I'm afraid...
NightForce - 4/1/2014, 2:44 PM
Same man. This is the second retroactive changing of an iconic characters origin. Plus I said earlier Marvel still acts like events that happened in the 60s ACTUALLY happened in the 60s.
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 2:47 PM
They already pulled a "sort-of-New-52" with One More Day. And we all know how well it all went.
AlSimmons - 4/1/2014, 2:47 PM
Ramos actually doesn't look totally crap here.
BANEofExistence - 4/1/2014, 2:49 PM
Only character who has an origin that takes place in set time periods should be... Captain America, Wolverine and to a degree Magneto with his WWII background... Most other characters should adapt to modern times... So y is spidey looking like its 1965 in his origin beats me ;p
dcnoob122 - 4/1/2014, 2:50 PM
Dan slott is good, but Humbarto Ramos is just horrible!
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 3:00 PM
"if there is any character in comics who needed a clean slate, it'd be Spidey". Well, there are also the X-Men. Man, if their story isn`t convoluted.
Nivekian - 4/1/2014, 3:00 PM
New 52 failed, why are people talking about Marvel emulating it?
Odin - 4/1/2014, 3:03 PM
@DrDoom agreed
character info for Spiderman use to say that the spider died for radiation right after biting Peter, where has this other person been for all these years. These better be REALLY good.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:05 PM
yeah, Ramos is one of the weaker artists on Spider-Man. he's good at certain things, but overall, i'm not the biggest fan. I really don't care about which way arms bend, unless it's totally ridiculous. it's kinda like saying that Mark E Smith is a bad singer becuz he's pitchy. what the hell, you know? or that Slayer doesn't know how to write songs cuz they don't stay in key.

it's just funny to see people focus on things like that. that said, i don't like him much either. i don't like his style.

but they're rotating artists on this, just like they have during the whole run of Superior. I kinda wish they'd just have one full time artist, pick the 'best' one. I'd pick Camuncoli. I mean, Spider-Man's a pretty big title, why can't one person just be the Spider-Man artist. I don't know what that's about. I read an interview once where Slott was saying that he specifically wants certain artists to do certain stories in Superior. so I don't know if it's his call or what, but I'd so much rather just have one single Spider-Man flagship title artist.

Also, they aren't changing anything about the origin. it's just gonna be another person, who goes a different way with things, Spidey encounters him and something happens. but it's meant to be an adding on to everything that already exists, not a change in any way. that's my read on it from what i've heard about it so far.

I don't think it's necessary at all, but it's not a change.
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 3:07 PM
O don`t think New 52 failed. It just wasn`t for everyone. My biggest complaint about it is that it should have started a totally fresh universe, without any history. Instead, it`s just a revamp - some of the past events got changed, others weren`t.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:08 PM
@Odin - probably not be really good, probably just gonna be another dumb useless add on to things that is a quick dead end. probably see the person run themselves into a dead end. and then in one year or something, see them reappear with some false claim to validation and long-running ties to history.

sounds stupid.

but it's not changing anything, and it's not any kind of revision to the actual stuff that's always been known to happen.
HavocPrime - 4/1/2014, 3:10 PM
Good to see Peter back but how will another Spider powered person help with his event coming up.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:12 PM
and [frick] all reboots of Marvel Comics. New 52 is a lame way to do things. didn't clean anything up, just made things sillier. right now, in Marvel, things don't add up, cuz comic books don't add up. there's no real world logic to these. and New 52 is just like this anal retentive double talk about clean slates. whatever they say, it's not true.

all stories about Batman, Superman... guess what? they exist, no matter what fake universe someone makes up about things.

comic books are messy. Marvel comics are messy. Marvel comics are crazy. if they reset, in a matter of a year, they'd be messed up again, and it doesn't erase anything. i have no problem pretending that One More Day doesn't exist. I just do it myself. doesn't make sense, but who cares?

what do comic books have to do with time scales and stuff? jesus, u guys really think the silliest things are important. Marvel Comics has been around since the 60s. 616. one continuity of gloriously messed up shit... and people think they should just trash that?

how insane is that? this is glorious, it's messed up, it's crazy, it doesn't make sense. good. that's the way it's always gonna be.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:19 PM
i mean how many goddam times do we have to hear about another stupid year one of Batman? why don't they just add on and change it? and not be so weird and obsessive compulsive about what's true and what's not?

that just sounds like the opposite of the way to do anything real.
it's like saying... now i'm this.

ok, no i was that before, but NOW.... I'm this.

just shut up and be whatever u are, we'll figure out what u are. not you.

it's like make believe land. like cowboys and indians. just shut up and be something, quit being so eager to tell us everything you are.

dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:19 PM

that's why Spider-Man retcons and year one type stuff just washes over my back. like oil on a stupid duck. i don't need someone telling me... this is a clean slate. it's not a clean slate. there is no such thing when it comes to Spider-Man. alternate realities, fine. go knock yourself out with alternate realities, Ultimate Earth Twos and all that. good. love it.
but don't mess with 616. 616 is a glorious mess forever.

storyteller - 4/1/2014, 3:19 PM
When it comes to the spider, the assumption was that it died very quickly after biting Peter so it didn't have time to bite another.
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 3:20 PM
Wow, you`re really angry at DC ;)
beane2099 - 4/1/2014, 3:25 PM
That spider is a real jerk. Goin' around bitin' on peoples for no reason.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:26 PM
i mean they tried to clean slate just Spider-Man on his own,
and you know what? it didn't work.

i don't even recognize that as happening. so they tried and they failed.
power to the people.

they don't decide this shit. i do. for myself, i do.
and if they ever make the mistake of doing some kind of reboot, which 616 has NEVER done, that's right, Marvel has not rebooted, ever.

everytime they knock Daredevil back to issue #1, we have 110 people here crying about "reboots". Marvel has NEVER rebooted. 616 has been 616 since the 60s. you can even pretend it was from the 40s but you'd just be pretending. 616 is what's been happening since the 60s. that's my book, tho.

but Daredevil issue #1... that's not a reboot of anything. Marvel rules becuz of this. u stick by yourself, u don't toss yourself out the window every other year becuz you found a new set of clothes. you cannot erase anything you've ever done. whether you're a comic book publisher or you're a person.

there is no such thing as a clean slate. god is always watching. haha. at the very least, right? No one Ever Really Dies. go ask Dr Manhattan.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:27 PM
@JaiHo - no, actually... that's a funny way to read everything i've just wrote.

in fact, i think a deliberate false reaction pretending to misinterpret everything i just wrote. don't be silly.
JaiHo - 4/1/2014, 3:32 PM
@ MrBlackJack: True that, sir.

@ dethpillow: It was a joke, don`t be so serious. Also, I agree with you on most points.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:32 PM
it's just the plain truth, when people for no reason, start saying that Marvel should toss out 616... just to what???

DC can toss themselves in the trash as many times as they want to.
i'm only gonna have to mention that when people start popping in the kitchen saying we should blow up my entire house, cuz they don't like the carpet.

ok... we'll change the carpet then.

"no..... i'll remember the old carpet was there...."

quit worrying about ghosts. there are so many ghosts living on you, sucking your hair and eyes and teeth all the time, it's just funny to pretend like you're worried about ghosts, just cuz you happen to see one.
dethpillow - 4/1/2014, 3:34 PM
@JaiHo - well, i'm sorry then. honestly.

i have no choice but to be serious tho. haha. seriously.
steve ditko knew... and i bet alan freed did....
there are things in life that are better not to behold.
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/1/2014, 3:39 PM
It's actually really interesting how that same spider that got Peter his powers bit another person. It's actually a pretty good idea, they should make a villain out of that person, but I doubt slott would do it any justice
