" Thor and SHIELD agent Roz Solomon vs. Ulik the troll!"

So no to black widow and no to Maria Hill. Smh.

@TheRealRemy - Lol, spit out some coffee on that one.

I wonder where the Thor solo movie producers are looking for inspiration. Do they not see these GIANTS Thor is fighting :)?! In the comics, "tales of Asgard", etc.?

I've got no beef with Whedon, he threw a gamma radiated beast and Chitauri monsters at Thor :). Loki and the Chitauri grunts were just appetizers!

But its the solo teams. The only giants to appear in the franchise was the 2011 Jotun monster and the smaller Dark World one. The 2011 monster hardly counts because it was beaten with ONE blow, and Hemsworth's Thor outfit remained clean, unmarked, and not torn up :)!

Other than that, you had some "cruiser weights" like The Destroyer and Kurse. Alright, the Destroyer smacked Thor into next week... and Kurse threw a small mountain at him, before pummeling him within an inch of his life :)...but where are the GIGANTIC, ENOURMOUS foes?

I see it over and over...Wrath of the Titan's Kronos, Percy Jackson 2's Kronos, Jack The Giant Slayer, the "This is the End" giant demon, Smaug...a lot of these CGI models were made on way cheaper budgets than Thor's 170M, so its not that.

For whatever reason they've chosen to go with the less spectacular "little guys" , and ignore the Thor villains who DESERVE an IMAX showing, the TITANS! Malekith is great, but you're gonna use someone like this as a villain on a TV episode of Agents of SHIELD :)! you're on a theater screen, now you have to go HUGE, like Surtur, Ymir

Lol @TheRealRemy I swear people on this site just read the title and look at the pictures smmfh.

You'd think we'd have more literate people on the site as the basis of it is comic BOOKS!
PunkRockJesus - 4/26/2014, 9:24 AM
The best Marvel title right now! Keep Ribic on the pencils, if he takes that long of a break from it again I'll be pissed! Also, why the hell are they having someone else do the covers!? That cover ain't got shit on Ribics own!
PunkRockJesus - 4/26/2014, 9:25 AM
Old Man Thor is my new favorite Marvel hero, p.s.
ThePowerCosmic - 4/26/2014, 9:40 AM
Nobody should be able to take Galactus. Even old Galactus. This guy has the might of the whole universe. He should really be undefeatable.
Ramiel - 4/26/2014, 9:42 AM
Damn! Thor's daughters laid the smackdown on Galactus. Great art, great story telling, great book.
LEOSTRATOR - 4/26/2014, 10:01 AM
Got to pick this up.
CaptAmericaSux - 4/26/2014, 10:56 AM
How so? I don't get where you're...I dont recall asking for gigantic mythological villains in Iron Man and Captain America, because they don't BELONG there :). They BELONG in a movie you're making about THOR, that's why I'm pleeding for it :)!

I don't care where you look, the comics, "Tales of Asgard", the Thor 2011 videogame, the Dark World mobile game...Thor mowed through the "little guys", but there's always that GIANT.

Why has this been mostly absent from the solo flicks? Can they get it totally right this time in Thor 3?
Doon - 4/26/2014, 11:01 AM
@WhiteBolt, they're his granddaughters.
DoomBot666 - 4/26/2014, 11:15 AM
I had read up to issue 17, I need to catch up. Probably the best Marvel NOW! comic out right now. Beautiful artwork and incredible story
NightForce - 4/26/2014, 12:27 PM
The Thor movies should have been more like this comic.
norseman79 - 4/26/2014, 1:06 PM
The future stuff in this arc is really cool but the present day stuff is bleh. Thor chasing around some no name shield agent is worse than his pining for Jane Foster.
CaptAmericaSux - 4/26/2014, 2:22 PM

I would tell Feige's producers to watch this video over and over and over until their PCs crash :)! This isn't an actor in a costume and makeup like the miniature Frost Giants...this is a completely CGI GOLIATH!!

Look at the destruction he causes with one swing of his arm, punch into the ground, and kick of debris :)! He's not beaten with ONE shot! He takes a few strikes from ZEUS and shrugs them off!

This is what's missing from the solo films! Come on, even in the upcoming Hercules movie, they throw a gigantic wart hog at the Rock :D!

The above movie was made on a 130M budget! This is what you do with 170M! Enough of these "Agents of SHIELD" tv level villains! Put Thor in an EPIC battle against a GIANT on the giant screen!

CaptAmericaSux - 4/26/2014, 4:58 PM
I neglected to mention that this wasnt the only giant in that movie, he was just the biggest one :)! There's a family of giant cyclops, and one of those mythological winged creatures! Bring these guys in! THIS is Thor!
NightForce - 4/26/2014, 8:12 PM
Couldn't agree with you more brother. I couldn't stand the Frost "Giants" in the first Thor. They should have been 30-40+ feet tall.
Daveymack - 4/26/2014, 9:21 PM
One of the grand daughters has beta ray bills hammer . Hum
3DWitchHunt - 4/26/2014, 9:24 PM
Such an awesome series. Ugh, cant wait to get my hands on this.
KalElOdinson - 4/26/2014, 10:11 PM
@Odinson2k14 I've been saying the same thing. Thor is so under powered in the MCU it's sickening. The main purpose for that is to make sure the Hulk is the strongest. They truly don't know how to properly write Thor....
loki668 - 4/26/2014, 11:20 PM
I LOVE that depiction of Galactus!!!!
CaptAmericaSux - 4/27/2014, 1:36 AM
The 2011 Jotuns weren't giants, they were reduced to "tall people". The rock monster with the glass jaw was the "giant" of Dark World. Its not budgetary constraints, because most of those other movies I mentioned were either cheaper or the same.

I think its just what happens when the SAME producing team is blowing by 2-3 movies a year. They may have been working on IM3, Thor 2, and Cap 2 at the SAME time. I'm not a graphic artist, but you're told time and again how TIME consuming the process is to create these CGI models.

The overbooked producing team probably figured it would move things along quicker if they just used the "little guys" of Thor's rogues gallery, and put a costume and makeup on an actor...they've done this potential fantasy epic franchise no favors.

Its why I believe that the same producing team cranking out 2-3 films a year isn't the best of ideas. I'd rather they worked on ONE, executive-produce the others, allowing a director to bring in his dedicated producing team.

The one producing team has about 4 movies to blow through in phase 3 :). My fingers are crossed that it will be a complete Thor movie this time...but all indications are an actor sits in a makeup chair for 4 hours to play a 10 foot tall Surtur :D.
CaptAmericaSux - 4/27/2014, 6:31 AM
Don't get me wrong, overall I like the first 2 films. But I feel that they were missed opportunities to bring Thor to the silver screen.

The 2011 Thor was great for the first and last half hours. The middle hour had way too much of the Hemsworth earth comedy. The Frost Giants...were produced with an "Agents of SHIELD" network TV mentality :). There should have been NO actors to shrink the giants down to. These should have been 50 foot tall CGI models. This isn't Agents of SHIELD :)!

I like Dark World a LOT better because the Hemsworth hour is missing, and he's Thor for the ENTIRE movie. The earth scenes were reduced to 3 minute scenes. Spaceships flying out of Svartalfheim was a little bizarre if you're familiar with the source material :)...but they were going for a more epic feel.

Yet...the Agents of SHIELD mentality surfaces again....the network TV mentality...the primary villains are Malekith and Kurse, two villains that can be played by actors in costumes. Two villains who should have been mere servants to the real baddie, Surtur. And they did a great job with Kurse! But it wasn't Surtur!

I'm willing to bet that Feige's producing team is staffed with a lot of network TV veterans. Its the mentality! He needs motion picture veterans, not TV!
