COMICS: More War Coming To The Marvel Universe

COMICS: More War Coming To The Marvel Universe

Cryptic teaser for "This is War!" Looks like the conflict doesn't end once AvsX wraps. This October the combat continues across the Marvel landscape.

No details as of yet but expect news to drop at this year's Comic-Con International 2012 in July, during the Spider-Man panel. Judging by the flames, does the Phoenix continue to play a force in future events?

It's the Age of Ultron!!
ATrueHero1987 - 6/25/2012, 8:12 AM
Then again, why would they talk about that at a Spider-Man panel??
2gold - 6/25/2012, 8:13 AM
Another one? They are having so many wars lately that it is getting old.

How many more times are we gonna see Mjolnir damaged in some way?

Somewhat unrelated thought: AvX would make a great video game.

I really think its time to step back to a cosmic focus. Something on the scale of Annihilation but this time include a large number of our earth bound heroes. Make since of it though. Include the likes of Thor, Iron Man, Nova, Inhumans, Shiar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Adam Warlock, Captain/Miss Marvel, Dr Strange, Silver Surfer, & Quasar rather than tossing Captain America, Spider-man, & Wolverine in space suits. That way its not ridiculous and you can develop some individual stories for your more earth bound heroes.
Vandal - 6/25/2012, 8:28 AM
Civil War made them so much money, this is their predictable way of trying to repeat it in some way.
ThaMessenger07 - 6/25/2012, 8:34 AM
better be good...
OdinsBeard - 6/25/2012, 8:43 AM
that hammer being broken is getting over-used.
mctrinket - 6/25/2012, 8:48 AM
What are all the bad guys up to while all the Marvel heroes are all so busy fighting one another?
JustDame - 6/25/2012, 8:51 AM
Ultron phucking ish up.
elcaballerooscuro92 - 6/25/2012, 8:59 AM
when are they gonna fight super villains?
BackwardGalaxy - 6/25/2012, 9:04 AM
Where's the one where they show Cap's shield all shattered? You know, for the 8320458th time.
superotherside - 6/25/2012, 9:20 AM
Age of Ultron?
mawilli4 - 6/25/2012, 9:27 AM
Thanos is returning in Avengers Assemble, and this could tie in with renewed interest thanks to his Cameo.
cosmicstranger - 6/25/2012, 9:32 AM
Marvel with its current writers has nothing left.

Avengers vs. X-Men? MORE superheroes fighting superheroes? This is...pathetic as far as I am concerned.

@CPBuff22-Agreed. That would have the potential of being Marvel's best story since...before the Civil War IMHO
avengersftw - 6/25/2012, 9:41 AM
BANG! marvel relaunchels
AlcoholicA - 6/25/2012, 9:51 AM

..wait for it.....wait for it....
marvel72 - 6/25/2012, 9:58 AM
the ultron war is due to happen soon, can't f*ckin wait.
TonyChu - 6/25/2012, 10:03 AM
I'm praying for the Ultron War because Hero vs Hero is getting old on both the Marvel and DC front. I even agree with CBpuff and get another big intergallactic battle just like the old days.

@Intruder You know damn well who Black Manta is! LOL
AlSimmons - 6/25/2012, 10:06 AM
Is Thor's soul still tied to Mjolnir? If so, then he's probably dead. Again.
hush - 6/25/2012, 10:12 AM
Marvel - seriously, it's just one event after another.

I don't think they've done anything inventive since Civil War.
hush - 6/25/2012, 10:13 AM
And yeah, Thor will die - again. And come back - again.

Seriously, hes not Super Mario.
ATrueHero1987 - 6/25/2012, 10:18 AM
So y'all agree that this is the Age Of Ultron too? It might be just that but why talk about this event at a Spider-Man panel??
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 6/25/2012, 10:23 AM
This hopefully will be an epic crossover event. Looking forward to Trinity War also.
captainbeta - 6/25/2012, 10:46 AM
This will be the Ultron War. This will cause all of the superheroes and villains to unite under a common banner. Some will die (not permanent, because, as you know, no one truly dies in comics) and others will live.
writerguy1976 - 6/25/2012, 10:50 AM
More Thor is a great thing. Anything more of Thor story arc and I m there.
CPBuff22 - 6/25/2012, 10:53 AM
@Froggy because Superman & Lex Luthor are on the same level? That is the point right DC Villains more on par with the Heroes? Because I don't buy it.
Shadowelfz - 6/25/2012, 11:12 AM
Let me guess more heroes vs. heroes, hmm? If so Marvel is quickly becoming a one trick pony.

If it is Ultron, however, I would love that and start reading more comics again.
Chewtoy - 6/25/2012, 11:55 AM
I have no problem with a war, but let it be against someone we can root against. All of this internal fighting just diminishes the characters.
CaptainObvious - 6/25/2012, 12:22 PM
You would think that if the heroes are fighting for the same cause-the protection of Earth- they would not be fighting each other. I'm fine with heroes fighting each once in a while, but to have them fight often makes them come across as petulant. By the way, while the heroes are too busy beating the crap out of each other over disagreements, why don't the villains use that opportunity to take over the world?
Googs - 6/25/2012, 12:39 PM
@froggy, I see what you are saying.

there are cases where marvel villains define thier heroes. think spidey and his rogues gallery or magneto and prof X. but I think its because marvel was designed as a complete universe, whereas Dc didnt go in that direction from the get go, that villains in Marvel dont "belong" to a specific hero. unlike in Dc where black manta, joker, lex, zoom, and hades each align as a counter point to thier heroes.

Dc villains cross over, but we think of them as the match or opposite to the hero, whereas marvel can have Doc doom show up and a make a scene for anyone from daredevil to mr. fantastic and we appreciate it.

I think you are right though that for movies, marvel has this edge and it also is the brilliance of the marvel movie universe, that we have have falgship heroes, with guest villains. in some cases (loki, maybe thanos) those villains interact with different heroes too.

* one last thing. i think lex is a perfect match for supes. supes can beat the hell out of anyone, but lex and his manipulation and soft pudgy skin make it a challenge. supes can out fight anything, but lex is smarter, and lex is arguing against everything supes believes in. its a war of ideals, rather than fists. just sayin'
Durf - 6/25/2012, 1:00 PM
@froggy and @glasspleiades: great points on the heroes and villains
oldnoname - 6/25/2012, 1:08 PM
Aren't we right in the middle of an event right now? That being said I'm probably gonna buy this too.

and I agree with Durf
AEStark - 6/25/2012, 2:53 PM
Hey, remember when heroes fought villains? And they weren't constantly at war with each other? I mean, I'm sure there's some crime left to fight.
OriginalGuardiansPlease - 6/25/2012, 6:51 PM
how about....

war of the worlds? That might mean the return of Killraven and would definetely involve cosmic characters
mob7medina - 6/25/2012, 11:12 PM
bring on the Ultron war!or some other cool villians!no more heroes fighting eachother its played out, please!!
Lockjaw - 6/26/2012, 1:45 AM
20 great MARVEL villains:

Loki / Dr.Doom / Magneto / Ultron / Kang / Dr.Octopus / Green Goblin / Apocalypse / Kingpin / Galactus / Thanos / Anilihus / Red Skull / Deadpool / Baron Zemo / Manderin / Venom / Carnage / Skrulls / Enchantress
Joementum - 6/26/2012, 4:01 AM
The villians as anti-heroes- Deadpool,Venom, Skrulls(Jazinda,Lyra, etc), and my favorite Baron Zemo was in Thunderbolts--a MOE team where most of them lost their "E".

BTW I never understood Emma Frost as an XMen leader
