Marvel have released a lettered preview of next week's Amazing Spider-Man #1 from Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, and in it we see a flashback to a pivotal moment in Peter Parker's past and then a first look at how the current day Spidey is dealing with the aftermath of Doctor Octopus' actions!

This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it. Same Parker Luck, new Parker attitude. Putting the “friendly” back in the neighborhood, the “hero” back into “super hero,” and the “amazing” back into “Spider-Man!” Also returning: The recharged and reenergized ELECTRO!

He looks like he's on crack in that first pic.
MrSotoMan - 4/24/2014, 7:11 AM

What the [frick] was the point in that?

I mean you end The Amazing Spider-Man comic run because Octavius is taking over Peters mind, so it felt more like an end to that character even with starting Superior Spider-Man, now that they are deciding to end it even though the story was getting interesting and is pretty good, they decide to bring Peter back but now call it back to Amazing Spider Man.

Yea, confused!
DEVLIN712 - 4/24/2014, 7:13 AM
Can't wait to read this
Gusto - 4/24/2014, 7:16 AM
I dig the artwork. But,
the everyone's eyes look
a little cartoony.
JordanKing - 4/24/2014, 7:16 AM
Dat cleavage tho.
GoILL - 4/24/2014, 7:17 AM
All of the variant covers are really good.
Nomis - 4/24/2014, 7:17 AM
Dan Slott (not so)secretly HATES peter Parker/SpiderMan.

He's been sabotaging Spidey's comics to alienate him from fans, from day one.
InfiniteMonkey - 4/24/2014, 7:27 AM
That first cover, he looks like a cross-eyed bloody idiot.
GodzillaKart - 4/24/2014, 7:27 AM
Some great cover art! I agree the story art looks a bit cartoony.
GodzillaKart - 4/24/2014, 7:28 AM
@InfiniteMonkey: And like a gay stereotype.
GodzillaKart - 4/24/2014, 7:29 AM
I mean, really! Shouldn't there be a word balloon saying "I'm FABULOUS!!!!!"
InfiniteMonkey - 4/24/2014, 7:30 AM

Like the other's though.
Looking forward to Miles more so than this.
Just a change of pace and different anxiety ridden writing.
I hope.
InfiniteMonkey - 4/24/2014, 7:32 AM
Yeah mate I think they are trying to cover all their bases.
The 6th one down looks like he's got darker skin, so yeah, definitely trying to appease to all but, can't fool us.

Peter is ultimately pasty and if the writing does not change, this will be just another rehash of years gone by.

New villains, new romances and new encounters. Show him to have moved on from that sameness over the years... ...we'll see.
DrCthulhu - 4/24/2014, 7:34 AM
As someone who enjoys collecting variant covers by certain artists or covers that are works of art, that $5.99 price is very distracting.

They really went to a lot of effort just to make you start buying Spider-Man after Brand New Day ruined it.

Still... as much as news sites mock people for walking away from the book, I'm still not interested in going back. Peter or Octavius.
rabid - 4/24/2014, 8:26 AM
I was scared of everything after Brand New Day too... until I read it and really enjoyed it.
So who is this girl getting bit on the ankle by the spider?
A new spider-woman? It can't be the new villain Clash because he's a man.
Dedpool - 4/24/2014, 8:32 AM
So who's the chick that got bit by the same Spider? Slott you are awesome!
TheGreenBastard - 4/24/2014, 8:35 AM
He looks colored in the second to last one, where he's pulling his mask on, and jumping.
comicbookjerk - 4/24/2014, 8:38 AM
WAIT I thought the Spider DIED after biting him? WHO ELSE DID IT BITE!!!!!!!!!!!????????????
robsncoppers - 4/24/2014, 8:51 AM
Inferior Spider-man is back. Great. They better keep the new Octavius character and all his character developments somehow, that was much more interesting than old Peter's problems. You know, the problems he's been dealing with since the sixties.
rabid - 4/24/2014, 8:53 AM
I can't think of any of Peter's female classmates that had black or brown hair except Jessica Jones, and it couldn't be her.
TheGreenBastard - 4/24/2014, 8:57 AM
Wow, really? Just do a reboot marvel. This retconning shit, is for the birds.
Millz333 - 4/24/2014, 9:00 AM
god, Ramos sucks so bad - and why are they using these ridiculous villains? why even bother? thanks Slott! Slott + Ramos on Spiderman = No longer interested.

Look how great the non-Ramos covers are!! Shit, PLEASE rid Spiderman of this inferiority.
aievilgenius - 4/24/2014, 9:01 AM
@ultimatewarrior he looks colored you say?
stuck in the old times eh?
i liked the whole superior series...hopefully this series brings some new life to spider-man instead of rehashing old stories over and over.

lawndart - 4/24/2014, 9:28 AM
"It can't be the new villain Clash because he's a man"

Maybe this was"pre-op" Clash?
TheGreenBastard - 4/24/2014, 9:33 AM
Aievilgenius: Damn skippy, whipper snapper!
TheGreenBastard - 4/24/2014, 9:35 AM
Superior Spiderman was a great, fresh run, and Slott & Co. nailed it outta the park. I rever reading people losing their minds when this started, and are now sad it's ended
adamcawa - 4/24/2014, 9:43 AM
I enjoyed the Superior run

I truly hope Peter has matured from this

I either want him to own being spider-man in his relationships, or cut them out entirely, giving up the life of Peter Parker altogether
Shadowmaster35 - 4/24/2014, 9:56 AM
Spider-Man books here I come again! Finally!
KrazyForKomix - 4/24/2014, 10:13 AM

ChiliConCarney - 4/24/2014, 11:18 AM
A new #1? Knock me over with a feather! Getting tired of the market being flooded by Marvel #1s after just stopping the run of a historic series just to reboot it and pump out 20 variant #1 covers.
Indy - 4/24/2014, 11:21 AM
I am looking forward to reading this.
ZakkPL - 4/24/2014, 11:24 AM
