What happened to Penance? Did he just shake off all that trauma?
dcnoob122 - 2/13/2014, 1:46 PM
the color is a little bland
JumpingSpider - 2/13/2014, 1:48 PM
Second cover, Speedball.....dat ass
fortycals - 2/13/2014, 1:57 PM
he got back his memory back during siege tie ins. He got his speedball powers back and dealt with the outcome in avengers academy. He has his speedball powers and his penance (he still hurts himself to). He was last seen going of into the sunset with justice in AA.

Love the pencils.
Can't wait to give this a go.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 2:14 PM
New Warriors. No Richard Rider. They may as well just drop seventeen tonnes of shit on the name of the team, on the name Richard Rider and the entirety of the Nova Corps.
snif - 2/13/2014, 2:15 PM
I love Scottie Young artwork. Aren't those covers just the cutest thing ever? If I could wrap a Scottie Young cover around the world, we would have no more war!
Ramiel - 2/13/2014, 2:17 PM
The art looks good. Q: How is it that Marvel doesn't have Campbell on of their titles? I think he'd be awesome for a Spider-Man title.
Ramiel - 2/13/2014, 2:18 PM
Is @Snif the bizarro version of @Grif?
plasticman - 2/13/2014, 2:27 PM
I see a Teen Titans like cartoon in the future. Plus, I want Night Thrasher.
marvel72 - 2/13/2014, 2:28 PM
new warriors was quite good in the 90s,as for speedball he sucks, penance now that character was f*ckin bad ass.
cosmicman - 2/13/2014, 2:52 PM
sure to last about ten issues.

No Richard Rider, so I'll pass.

Frickin' really lame.
DefcoN - 2/13/2014, 3:04 PM
I don't understand why Marvel keeps Richard Rider in the shadows. He is/was one of the best cosmic heroes out there. Peter Quill came back, so why not him too?
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 3:29 PM

It's because they're trying to get younger readers in using Sam Alexander. They don't care about us hardcore Richard Rider fans.
SecretAvenger001 - 2/13/2014, 3:49 PM
Calm down all! Richard Rider will make a comeback one day. Think of the positives, Peter Quill and Christopher Summers have both returned. He's just now too big a character for the New Warriors. He will most like be the focus of a new Nova title or an Avenger!

Richard Rider going back to the New Warriors?

Please... Rider's current and would-be (he will return) power set could take on the New Warriors all by himself.

New Warriors - Earth level heroes. That's why Kid Nova could fit in.
Richard Rider Nova - Cosmic level hero

ScionStorm - 2/13/2014, 6:53 PM
Wasn't alternate universe Vance Astro one of the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Aww. I really do miss Rider. I doubt he'd want to return to New Warriors unless Namorita (whatever happened to her after Thanos Imperative?) decided to return to them.

Ye olde team.
Tymminator - 2/13/2014, 8:26 PM
Sam zhould just be renamed to Kid Nova, and Ryder should return as the TRUE Nova.
GLprime2814 - 2/13/2014, 10:54 PM
Needs night thrasher.
loki668 - 2/13/2014, 11:29 PM
Kaine?!?!? Well, they're going to shit their collective pants whenever Kaine gets angry and kills someone.
dethpillow - 2/14/2014, 3:05 AM
this is what i always imagined DC comics to be when i was a kid.
manofmidgard - 2/14/2014, 7:07 AM
always hated the name richard rider... so his nickname is dick rider? eeks. someone didn't think that one through.
fortycals - 2/14/2014, 7:32 AM
Damn I missed the old new warriors. I always wanted to see the original team get back together for a reunion mini. Most of their power sets evolved so much over the years they would definitely be a team to be reckoned with.
vtopa - 2/14/2014, 7:44 AM
This is NOT NOVA. THis is some little prepubescent Disneyfied garbage that Marvel is trying to pump up to boost its cartoon on the Disney Chanel.

RajunRemyLebeau - 2/14/2014, 9:09 AM
Eh, never been a fan of New Warriors. then again, I'm an X-Men guy and never liked New Mutants, so there ya go.

I miss Rich as much as anyone, but I don't see why Sam is getting all the hate he does. I hope people realize that rich wasn't always the boss man Nova prime that he became. He started out as a young teenage hot head and evolved into the cosmic hero that he is now. He grew over decades to become the man you know today, he didn't just show up as that guy. His journey has probably been one of the best displays of character growth in comics since the nineties. Sam shares a lot of character traits with early rich, and I'll be happy to see his growth. I guess I'll get my old man on and bring up a time when rich's signature move was a flying uppercut, and he didn't even know what gravimetrics where.
vtopa - 2/14/2014, 12:13 PM
I don't think that people would mind Sam so much if he was a bit player in the "Nova-verse" -- someone that Rich Rider could mentor, a character that younger readers might identify with. The problem is that Rider was "killed off" (and hey we know there is no such thing as death in the comics) and this 15 year old disney creation is seen as taking his place. That is hard to swallow for fans of the original Nova who saw their character develop from a self-conscious teen to a major powerhouse in the Marvel Universe. Its like they cut Rich off just when he was getting very very interesting. It was very satisfying to see a guy who had been dissed by other characters coming into his own. Very inspirational. This new Nova is basically a marketing creation designed to pull younger audiences into the cartoon and a marketing campaign. I knows they are a company but its bad form for the marketing to drive character development…it should due the OTHER way around. And I have yet to meet a younger reader of the Rich Rider series who did NOT think he was simply AWESOME.
rabid - 2/14/2014, 12:22 PM
How are Vance and Robbie suddenly young again? They popped up in the Nova series as teens.
fortycals - 2/14/2014, 2:23 PM
I will always want rich back and kicking ass, so don't get me wrong when I say this. Rich is also one character that I wouldn't be mad if he stayed dead for a while. He is one of few that you could see fully grow as a character, and so far, has a story with a beginning middle and end(and he went or like a beast). That is something that is rarely seen in comics. It is why you see other characters get stale and boring. I do want him back eventually, but I think some time can past, so when they do bring him back, it will throw the character into a far different world than when he left.

Sam on the other hand, as a character would be hurt by having rich around. He is a lot like rich in his early days. To me is like they are trying to start over for the younger generation, I can't be mad at that. I don't think I would like rich as much as I do if he didn't start off as kid nova. He is following rich's footsteps, from kid Nova and beyond, and that would be hard to do with big bad Nova prime looking over his shoulder (rich didn't have that in his younger years). So I say let the kids have their kid Nova, just make sure when rich does come back he puts the kid in his place.
vtopa - 2/15/2014, 10:53 PM
@fortycals I can live with that.
