COMICS: THE INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK Set To Be Relaunched By Mark Waid and Mark Bagley

Marvel is set to relaunch Indestructible Hulk which will be retitled as HULK with Mark Waid continuing as the comic's writer and Mark Bagley will be taking over art duties.

Marvel is set to relaunch Indestructible Hulk this April and will retitle it as HULK with Mark Waid continuing as the comic's writer with Mark Bagley taking over art duties.

CBR: Let's move on to some of the story details of this new volume of "Hulk." How much story time passes between the end of March's "Indestructible Hulk" #20 and April's "Hulk" #1? Can you talk at all about the dynamic between Banner and the Hulk or their individual physical and mental states when this series begins without tipping your hand?

Waid: Not MUCH I can say without tipping my hand, but let's say that Banner's in a VERY bad way physically as the series opens up a few hours after the end of the previous one -- and you'll be surprised in whose hands his life rests! For the time being, Banner and Hulk will be divided in a way we've never seen before on a long-term basis, and those who are eager to see the Hulk once more be his "own" character will be very pleased, I think.

In terms of the qualities you want to capture with your depiction of the Hulk, are you planning to emphasize the traits that we've seen in this most recent incarnation, especially the facial features?

Bagley:Yeah, there's the dumb, savage Hulk. There's the articulate Hulk. There's the Joe Fixit type, and this is a real specific iteration face-wise. From the way I'm reading things he's sort of leashed to a certain degree, but he's enough aware of what's going on that he's very close to getting out of control. Basically he's a huge guy on steroids in the room and you don't know when something's explosive going to happen.

What types of stories will we see in this new volume of "Hulk?" Will we still get a mix of genres or are you interested in telling a specific type of long form story?

Waid: More action. More reason for Hulk to carry more of the issue. But an overarching mystery that goes back to issue #2 or thereabouts, as new hints are revealed. Banner's been up to something -- and sharp-eyed readers have been collecting clues.

Why relaunch it?!smh I might as well subscribe when the new #1 comes
CaptainObvious - 1/6/2014, 8:34 PM
What is the point? It was already relaunched back in 2012. That just over a year ago. Is Marvel really that desperate that they have to keep renumbering their comics in attempts to get new readers?

Indestructible Hulk was boring and the whole 'working for Shield' angle didn't work for me.That's 2 volumes in a row that weren't great, hoping the new series is a better book to read!

I refuse to buy from marvel. They keep relaunching great comics.

Oh, look. Another number one. [frick] you, Marvel. This is just piss poor marketing.

Bought the first few issues, lost interest soon as it did a pretty poor time travel style story, just didn't work for me at all...found the premise interesting to begin with, but not really the sort of Hulk story I want to read. Love Waid's work on Daredevil, so hopefully Hulk improves

i miss the days when comic books had runs that went into the hundreds, they also had jumping on points for new readers.

why can't we go back to them days?

So he got shot? What was the point of us bearing through that ridiculously terrible armor that was supposed to protect him? The creative decisions at Marvel these days...

I like Bagley's art but Marvel should really bring back Leinil to this book!

YAAAWNN! Marvel relaunching another title that was just relaunched so all the ignorant rubes can run out and buy that "BIG FIRST ISSUE" once again. As long as there are suckers falling into this ploy the publishers will continue to whip that dead horse.

Oh look, Banner and Hulk have been separated.........AGAIN. At least his "robotic pants" are purple now. LMFAO.
