COMICS: Who Shot The Watcher? Marvel Releases Advanced Look at ORIGINAL SIN #1

This May, the secrets come out, and Marvel have today released a set of beautifully rendered interior pages from Original Sin #1, the 8-part blockbuster event from New York Times Bestselling writer Jason Aaron and critically acclaimed artist Mike Deodato! Check it out!

On the moon, the dead body of Uatu, The Watcher is discovered. His home destroyed. Looted of its valuable alien technology. His death sends shockwaves through the superhero community. The Watcher has borne witness to every event, every skeleton and every secret history of the Marvel Universe. Secrets that are now in the possession of the killer!

The manhunt is on as the Avengers, the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and everyone in between desperately search for the Watcher’s killer – but with the killer in possession of all the skeletons in their closets, are they ready for their sins to be revealed?
As they unearth the motive behind The Watcher’s murder, they’ll uncover a shocking truth that will shake the Marvel Universe to its core. What did The Watcher see that made him a target? And it’s only a matter of time before more bodies start popping up!

“This is a murder mystery on a Marvel Universe scale, so the suspects and motivations span all of space and time, and even the nature of existence itself!” says Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “And in fact, there are two possibilities: first, that the Watcher was killed because of some grudge or slight, or to gain possession of his secrets. Or, more menacingly, the Watcher was killed in order to prevent him from seeing what comes next—to prevent him from interceding as he has so many times before! Neither is a particularly comforting thought to the heroes of the Marvel Universe! Nor is the notion that the being who could murder a nigh-omnipotent, eternal figure such as the Watcher must rank among the most dangerous and powerful individuals in existence!”

You thought you knew the whole story? You we’re wrong! The next stage of the Marvel Universe begins in May’s blockbuster ORIGINAL SIN #1!

[frick]ing love skottie young.

AsgardianHobo - 4/3/2014, 3:37 PM

arsonjack - 4/3/2014, 3:40 PM

TheCantilope - 4/3/2014, 3:44 PM
mctrinket - 4/3/2014, 3:47 PM what sort of gun would someone need to kill The Watcher? Wouldn't that sort of narrow it down?
iLikeTandA - 4/3/2014, 3:49 PM
Man I love Mike Deodato's art.
repulse93 - 4/3/2014, 3:52 PM

JordanKing - 4/3/2014, 3:55 PM
Skottie Young is just the best. Fact.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 4/3/2014, 3:56 PM
I think Kurt Russell would have been great as Nick Fury.
Pedrito - 4/3/2014, 3:58 PM
I am skeptical about this, but that preview actually looks great. The art is solid too. And Punisher teaming up with Dr. Strange.. that's something you don't see everyday.
DatScarletPimPerNeLL - 4/3/2014, 4:01 PM
Damn Uatu....Who shot ya !?!
ALmazing - 4/3/2014, 4:05 PM
I can't believe they kill the Watcher. The question is, how long before they bring him back?
Doopie - 4/3/2014, 4:12 PM
CaptainAmerica1945 - 4/3/2014, 4:17 PM
I am fairly certain that it will turn out to be The Voyeur, Uatu's ne'er-do-well brother who if I remember had quite a few restraining orders as well as sizable gambling debts!
staypuffed - 4/3/2014, 4:26 PM
This is quite interesting. The art is really cool.

The Skottie Young cover is both hilarious and disturbing at the same time.
CuddlyCereal - 4/3/2014, 5:13 PM
I really like the idea of the Watcher, but it seems like half the time he shows up he goes...Oh yeah, I'm not supposed to intervene but I'm totally intervening now.

That being Said Jason Aaron is my favorite writer so I'll definitely pick this up.
thunderforce - 4/3/2014, 5:49 PM
Why do people still think Thor is a Demi God ? He has never been and never will be a Demi God . For Thor to be a Demi God one of his parents would have to have been a mortal and that is not the case , his parents are arguably the two most powerful beings to ever walk the earth .
LEOSTRATOR - 4/3/2014, 7:26 PM
This looks good!
case - 4/3/2014, 7:53 PM
That first cover is awesome. The Thing looks especially rad.
YoungThanos - 4/3/2014, 9:24 PM
Wait I thought the Watchers were beyond Hulk class...
loki668 - 4/3/2014, 10:25 PM

But I didn't shoot the Skrull or Kree

jimoakley666 - 4/3/2014, 11:06 PM
Nice to see Nick Fury proper back. Also, Doctor Strange working with Frank Castle? Cool.
AC1 - 4/4/2014, 12:52 AM
Original Nick Fury's still alive? I thought they killed him off and replaced him with his son who just happened to look like Samuel L Jackson?
Glad to see there's room for both versions of the character, good for fans old and new alike.
pepe - 4/4/2014, 2:48 AM
Black Bolt...! It's nothing new about this. We've seen it all before... Earth X
13echo - 4/4/2014, 3:33 AM
Sue Ellen shot him.....
CorndogBurglar - 4/4/2014, 5:13 AM
@ pepe

um, they didn't kill the Watcher in Earth X...
CorndogBurglar - 4/4/2014, 5:23 AM
Also, you're crazy if you think they would make it the same person.
CBArtist - 4/4/2014, 6:23 AM
I thought the Watchers were a race of beings.

Anyway...The REAL Nick Fury is back! Now Marvel just needs to get him into the movies.
pointman - 4/4/2014, 7:39 AM
MIKE DEODATO is a master!
Bl00dwerK - 4/4/2014, 8:23 AM

jeffncarrie4234 - 4/4/2014, 8:46 AM
Will the Watchers send a new Watcher to Watch them solve the Watcher murder? We will have to watch and wait.
FlixMentallo21 - 4/4/2014, 8:57 AM
Maggie Simpson shot him.
osideous - 4/4/2014, 10:18 AM
the real Nick Fury retired he was never killed. however, if this storyline brings him back then amen, now he just needs to go take back S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fray - 4/4/2014, 2:18 PM
I'm sure Watcher will be back in a few months, just like all the other "dead" Marvel characters.
