FEATURE: 10 Of The Best Comic Book Covers From DC's July 2014 Solicitations

DC Comics have released their July 2014 solicitations, and we've again rounded up just ten of the most eye catching comic book covers! This month, there's an awful lot of Batman and Superman, so hit the jump to check them out and share your thoughts on our selections!

It’s all going to hell as cosmic-level war breaks out! The full truth of who — or what — Wraith is finally comes to light!

It’s the beginning of the end as writer Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang kick off the astonishing finale of their epic run! Olympus must fall, and its rightful ruler must be restored – but in Diana’s depraved family of demigods and gods, who can be trusted to rule with decency and justice?

It’s up, up and away as the titanic team of Geoff Johns, John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson continue their epic run on the Man of Steel! In their second issue, we learn more about the mysterious Ulysses and what his emergence will mean to Clark Kent and the world. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure is targeting Metropolis with strange mechanical creations...but why? And what dark secret from Clark’s past does it connect to?

It’s been one hell of a year in Gotham City, and it all comes down to this: Batman vs. The Riddler! Gotham City and the Dark Knight will never be the same! Don’t miss this special, extra-sized finale of “Zero Year!”

A tie-in to “Icarus”! Follow the movements of a deadly stash of Icarus through Gotham City, as it impacts the lives of those it comes into contact with: Elena and Annette Aguila, Harvey Bullock, and even Batman!

The shocking conclusion to “THE INJUSTICE LEAGUE” leads to a startling confrontation with the all-new, all-dangerous Doom Patrol! And in the wake of it all, a secret will be revealed that will bond two members forever – and break two members apart. Plus, Shazam unlocks a new power that will send a shockwave through the League.

A new arc begins following the events of “FIRST CONTACT.” The worlds of Batman and Superman come to an explosive clash as something terrible happens to the World’s Finest team, and a Dark Knight who is not quite himself must team up with Lois Lane to find a missing Man of Steel. Meanwhile, Selina Kyle encounters a person of amazing strength who has no idea who he is.

As Richard Dragon systematically takes apart Oliver Queen’s world in Seattle, we introduce a new person under Green Arrow’s hood!

The latest explosive origins from DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 include Harley Quinn by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and Stephane Roux; Green Arrow by Jeff Lemire, Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz, and Damian, Son of Batman, by Peter J. Tomasi and Ian Bertram!

In “Icarus” part four, Batman must contend with a gang war between The Squid and the Kings of the Sun before it consumes all of Gotham City! But can even the World’s Greatest Detective defuse a blood feud that’s about to go nuclear?

The Zero Year Batsuit is beautiful.

These are stunning covers, all of them. That Jae Lee one is incredible.

I'm noticing 2 of these covers are stylized in the shape of a gun (green arrow and detective comics), and in this same month is Grayson #1, where he is VERY uncharacteristically holding a gun and has become a spy.
Am I just paranoid or is there some kind of NRA backing going on here?
DrunkenNukem - 4/23/2014, 9:31 AM
Lee bermejo´s cover by far

One of the best artist, has a unique style.
JoeMomma29 - 4/23/2014, 9:32 AM
I love #9 Wonder Woman.
Nomis - 4/23/2014, 9:37 AM
Jr.Jr. is (as usual) horrible!

I have not, and will not, buy a Wonder Woman comic till CLIFF CHIANG get off the title.

And GREG CAPULLO is just "Phoning it in" nowadays. He's a shadow of his former self.

All the rest are amazing especially Jim Lee's Superman Unchained cover!
PsyGuy - 4/23/2014, 9:42 AM
The Wonder Woman one is AMAZING. just wow.

Yeah, I agree, Drunken. Bermejo's fantastic.

I don't think I've ever seen anything from him that I didn't like.
DEFA - 4/23/2014, 9:46 AM
- Wooow Lee Bermejo....!!!
cipher - 4/23/2014, 9:48 AM
I wish more usernames had the word "drunken" in 'em, so I can take a shot every time I type it.

The Batman/Superman by Jae Lee is the clear winner for me. Beautifully composed, crisp but not over rendered, and Batman is downright creepy.
GodzillaKart - 4/23/2014, 9:54 AM
In a lot of ways, Jim (not Jae) Lee and JRJR are artistic opposites. Lee's work is almost flawless, but generic as hell. All his faces look exactly the same. I remember a poster I had of his work as a kid. It had Cap, Wolverine and Punisher Everyone's face looked exactly the same.

JRJR's work is heavily stylized, proportions are sometimes off, and the compositions can be weird...but it's almost never boring.
BoomTubeB - 4/23/2014, 10:03 AM
Bermejo's by far stands out the most! Jae Lee is great to! they're all good !
PunkRockJesus - 4/23/2014, 10:03 AM
I wonder if JRSR face palms every time he sees his bastard's work... That cover shouldn't even be on here. Has anyone actually observed this:

On a happier, positive note, best covers by far are of course, Capullo and Manapul, especially that Detective Comics Annual! Wow!
PunkRockJesus - 4/23/2014, 10:05 AM
@Godzillafart well put, on Jae Lee, his work never fails to impress. Anybody getting his version of Batman B&W Statue?? It's gonna be TITS!
aRandomSinisterClone - 4/23/2014, 10:15 AM
wonder woman is amazing looking
Klone - 4/23/2014, 10:15 AM
Aside from Number 1 not being the best, they are all beautiful. Especially the Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman stuff.
DrunkenNukem - 4/23/2014, 10:27 AM

you dont need an excuse to be drunk!!

come on!

Alan Rickman compels you!!

McGee - 4/23/2014, 10:30 AM
Wonder Woman is one of my favorite New 52 titles.
PhilipG - 4/23/2014, 10:38 AM
Jae Lee and Lee Bermejo's covers are bad ass!!!
DamienA - 4/23/2014, 10:40 AM
The Batman/Superman cover is awesome. Lois,Selina and Batman.
BlinkyStark - 4/23/2014, 11:01 AM

that's all craps pure craps
Rokyn - 4/23/2014, 11:20 AM

Don't be dumb. You know exactly what that is. It's saliva. Gosh people on this site...

Oh and gotta give it to Green Arrow 33. Great cover.
PunkRockJesus - 4/23/2014, 11:40 AM

My goodness! You don't say! It's supposed to be saliva? My word, I never knew saliva was a thick, WHITE substance! I certainly need to return to my book learning to rectify this "dumb" I must have!
Rokyn - 4/23/2014, 1:07 PM

Then why the [frick] in the first place are you questioning what it was? I was merely answering your question of what it was.
SugarYumYum - 4/23/2014, 2:59 PM
Tbh, none of those do anything for me except the Jae Lee and Bermejo covers.
Wildaniel - 4/23/2014, 5:18 PM
Greg Capullo FTW!!!
case - 4/23/2014, 8:38 PM
That Wonder Woman cover is great. Quite striking. The Jae Lee one's the winner for me though.
HugoStrange87 - 4/24/2014, 4:49 AM
Man I have to pick up Secret Origins. I can't wait to check that out. That cover by Romita Jr doesn't look bad either.

@Blinkystark a new troll eh? Second time I've seen you around. You could use a nice wedgie on a goal post.
Lobojon1 - 4/24/2014, 6:45 AM
The Batman\Superman looks like it is from the Dark Tower comics.
Betty - 4/24/2014, 10:19 AM
Why people hate on JRjr so much? Personally, I love his style.
staypuffed - 4/24/2014, 5:49 PM
They are all pretty cool. Batman #33, Detective Comics Annual and Wonder Woman #33 are my picks.
