. It should be a DVD thanking DC for all the ideas he ripped off. This guy just loves hearing himself talk.
sexfoodcomics - 1/12/2012, 9:13 AM
I worked on this movie , yay!!
aRandomSinisterClone - 1/12/2012, 9:22 AM
I just hate how he admits to stealing from other companies. Like the golf story with DC's publisher. "Well they have a superhero team that sells, I'll make one now..."
sexfoodcomics - 1/12/2012, 9:26 AM
Yeah because no body made a story about a team of people before DC. DC invented everything.
MarkJulian - 1/12/2012, 9:33 AM
@sexfoodcomics Have to agree. It's a part of human evolution for the next person to take an idea and make it better.
JaySchluffy - 1/12/2012, 9:34 AM
Quick heads up, Stan Lee is 89 not 88.

Otherwise it looks pretty dam cool.
CrowPirate1 - 1/12/2012, 9:38 AM
Okay.. George Burns lived to be 100... so.. [fingers crossed] but.. I was actually surprised he was almost 90!!!

and I read both Marvel and DC growing up... loved Marvel for its grittiness and DC for its nobility.. hated each for different reasons too!

but.. all said and done.. Lee is the face of Marvel... DC is a corporation. while I love both, Lee will always be kind of cool to me, no matter what anyone says here.
aRandomSinisterClone - 1/12/2012, 9:53 AM
Oh no you don't like what I say so secretly report me for abuse. Lil narcs
Fogs - 1/12/2012, 9:55 AM
Stan lee was and is immensely important for comics in general. So stop being nitpicky and show some respect because we wouldn't be talking about CBMs here if it wasn't for his contribution.

To me he evolved the superhero genre, just like many other editors/writers/artists. And there's no way someone can deny that.
aRandomSinisterClone - 1/12/2012, 9:58 AM
We woudldnt be talking about CBM if not for Richard Donner and Tim Burton actually. Unless your talking about marvels crappy 80s captain america, punisher or other cheesy movies.
Spidey91 - 1/12/2012, 10:02 AM
2 facts:
1)Stan Lee is awesome
2)Nolanites trying to troll him are idiots
MovieMaster - 1/12/2012, 10:03 AM
@Gusto- You've already lived too long old man. Stan is the man!
Number1Wolverine - 1/12/2012, 10:03 AM
With more can you say "Stan's The Man".
comicb00kguy - 1/12/2012, 10:09 AM
Lee is such a shill. Marvel would be nowhere without the input of the true King of Comics, Jack Kirby. Lee reminds me of something my Grandpa used to say: If you could buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth, you'd be the richest man in the world. Lee did contribute to the early days of Marvel, just not as much as he'd have anybody believe.

That said, I don't blame or discredit Lee for "ripping off" DC. Nothing wrong with doing that. Both companies have done it to the other from the beginning. You see something of theirs that works, come up with a twist on it, and you have a version of it for your own. It's a common thing in most forms of entertainment.
Fogs - 1/12/2012, 10:10 AM
LOL @Barnebee you don't get what I meant.

Those movies we're watching would never exist without the kickstart of burton or donner as you say, but they would probably never be made without the 70's series.

Before that people wouldn't believe superheroes were relevant enough to even think of transposing those characters to other media.

And even before that people wouldn't buy the comics anymore because the old comicbook models from the 40's and 50's would become obsolete without new perspectives Stan and others brought.
Fogs - 1/12/2012, 10:11 AM
@comicb00kguy - you're right, today this is called "trend".
ThaMessenger07 - 1/12/2012, 10:17 AM

Gusto don't like Stan Lee cause he was the young cat in town screwing with the Magazines he was reading & changing things up.
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 10:24 AM
The gloves are coming off! Stan Lee is the most recognized person from comics.period. Now Gusto, you are making me angry, you won't like me when i'm angry.

BIGBMH - 1/12/2012, 10:41 AM
Definitely going to watch this. I'm excited to see some of his personal life. I remember his wife playing Madame Web on the 90s animated series, so she'll be fun to watch too.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/12/2012, 10:44 AM
Twice in one day???

I Got this,

marvel72 - 1/12/2012, 10:49 AM
people got bored of dc comics during the 60s & what was needed was a superior alternative, along came "the man" stan lee & with a few great artist's created a universe.

thank you stan lee, jack kirby, steve ditko & everyone else that makes marvel the greatest.
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 10:52 AM
number one on my list to have a boot to the ass!
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 10:54 AM
BIGBMH- for a minute i thought you was talking about me and Gusto. Our life stories are defintely NC-17!
aRandomSinisterClone - 1/12/2012, 11:05 AM
@gusto, that doom patrol comment made me laugh out loud
marvel72 - 1/12/2012, 11:18 AM
x-men maybe a "rip off" of doom patrol to you,but as i said earlier marvel made some changes to the characters & improve them so much its one of the biggest selling comics in the world.

i don't see any doom patrol movies being made. :D
OptimusPrime83 - 1/12/2012, 11:29 AM
Save Stan Lee. ...Master of the Marvel Universe
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 11:34 AM
AAAAGGGHHHHHH! Stop hatin' on Stan!!!! that's like hating your grandmother!!! or a puppy!...with glasses!
Fogs - 1/12/2012, 11:34 AM
@gusto, @barnebee and @marvel72, if x-men is a ripoff of doom patrol, this one was also inspired by the fantastic four..... This is how the band plays.

If today I was going to launch a comicbook with a group of superheroes (as if there weren't so many) I'd probably get inspiration, even involuntary, of something done before.
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 11:36 AM
I cant take much more of this! I'm about to get a domestic violence charge here!!!! again.!!!
MisterNiceGuy - 1/12/2012, 11:46 AM
This site used to be so much fun. it used to be one of the only threads you can post an opinion without getting ripped on bc we were all here for the same reason (comics and movie news) Now its worse than youtube people literally come here to troll... What happened
MaddMonkk - 1/12/2012, 11:53 AM
@MisterNiceGuy-I think most of these guys are teasing me, because I love Stan Lee.
