Hello Fellow CBM Users

Today my article will give my opinion on who are the most iconic superheroes of all time. By iconic i'm going on worldwide recognition.  Lets get started.

5) Iron Man: WHAT!!!!!, Iron man is only number 5. Yes he is, while iron man is without a doubt one of the most popular superheroes of all time he's just not on the level on the other 4 on this list in my opinion. Also you have to remeber i'm not doing people's favorite superheroes, i'm doing who is the most iconic and I feel while he is popular he's just not the most iconic. Also the MCU & RDJ really pushed this character into the spotlight in the last couple of years and being at # 5 is not a bad thing at all.

4) Spider man: The web head is one of the most popular characters that has ever been created. He is the flagship character of marvel comics(iron man is the flagship character of the MCU). While his most recent two movies have not been that well received, to me that just shows people are getting tired of movies of the web slinger. Nobody can deny that spider man is the most iconic marvel character and one of the most iconic super hero of all time.

3) Wonder Woman: Wonder woman is a character for some reason does not get the recognition she deserves. She is the most iconic & popular female superhero of all time, she's apart of the DC trinity and could be argued that she's  part of the Superhero trinity, and she's simply put one of the most iconic characters ever created. I feel because she has not yet got her own movie like the rest of the DC trinity & other superheroes she hasn't really been in the public eye, but when BvS: DOJ is released and she is well recieved I feel finally WW will be on equal ground with batman and superman.

2) Batman: Do I really have to say anything? He's the dark knight, the caped crusader, the world's greatest detective. He's the FREAKING BATMAN!!!! It can be argued that batman is the most iconic superhero, but i still feel even with 7 good movies and the best villains a hero can have there's still one who tops him, but theres no denying that batman like wonder woman and our # 1 he's one of the most iconic and popular characters ever created

1) Superman: The big blue boy scott, the last son of krpton. Superman is THE most iconic superhero ever and probably the most iconic character ever created. He's the godfather of the superhero world and he is the reason we even have this current golden age of superheroes! He is simply put the king of them all and no one can deny that. Just because he's not your favorite character does not mean you can deny what superman is and what he represent. He's not my faovrite superhero but he is still number 1.

Of course you can disagree with me and you probably have another list of superheroes that you think are the most iconic. Comment below and let me know!!!

100% correct. Iron Man has really grown within the past 6 years but that doesn't change 75 years of history. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The argument could be made for Wolverine as well.
Doopie - 8/26/2014, 11:24 AM
yeah I think Wolverine has worked his way in there and I would say the Hulk is recognisable the world over too.
PAF - 8/26/2014, 11:35 AM
Yes to all 5. Although I would say Wolverine and Iron Man would be tied.
PAF - 8/26/2014, 11:38 AM
@Midnightrain890

Heads up, you meant to say scout not scott.
DrKinsolving - 8/26/2014, 11:40 AM
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by iconic, or if you are talking about worldwide popularity.... I'd argue that Captain America and the Hulk could definitely fit on the list too
Omarvls - 8/26/2014, 12:03 PM
Wonder Woman is more iconic then Spiderman?

Come on man
Here is a list of who's in front of her

Wolverine
Hulk
Spider Man
Iron Man
jackmamma - 8/26/2014, 12:06 PM
Yeah wonder woman is really only an Icon to DC fans. With no live action media since the 70's she doesn't have any kind of popularity to the World Wide General Public. I do agree with some posters that Wolverine needs to be up there. Huge Jackman has been playing him for 14 years. Everyone knows those claws .
gamecreatorjj - 8/26/2014, 12:16 PM
Iron Man isnt Iconic at all, just because someone is popular doesnt mean they are iconic. Wolverine, Hulk, Flash, Green Lantern, Robin, Captain America are all far more iconic and have had a much more lasting impact on pop culture through the 20th and 21st century. We can't say Deadpool is an iconic character simply because every was Deadpool crazy for years. I'd say he has a better shot than Iron Man because people actually bought Deadpool's books.

Superman is a literal symbol of america and capitalism/ consumerism. People cared when Superman died or when Jason Todd died or even when Super man just denounced his american citizenship, or when an alternate universe version of Peter Parker died, THIS STUFF WAS COVERED BY NATIONAL NEWS. Wonder Woman has lost her identity over the years, but she is still far and away THE female superhero.

Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and Wolverine.

"Wonder Woman has lost her identity over the years, but she is still far and away THE female superhero."

In that case Black Panther is Iconic too
First Black Superhero

Obi - 8/26/2014, 12:58 PM
Irom man doesn't deserve to be there at all
Rulk - 8/26/2014, 1:12 PM
Spider-Man deserves #2. You go to china or india or russia... or even to the young kids in the good old U.S of A and they are going to recognize the iconic Spider-Man over Superman.... and ESPECIALLY Wonder Woman.

FAIL
Jollem - 8/26/2014, 1:18 PM
1. superman

2. batman

3. spider-man

4. wolverine

4. wonder woman
TheGoddamnPeel - 8/26/2014, 1:25 PM
In the past 75 years....

1. Batman
2. Superman
3. Spiderman
4. Captain America
5. Wolverine/Catwoman
Thebest2 - 8/26/2014, 1:50 PM
1.Superman
2.Batman
3.Spiderman
4.Wolverine
5.Wonder woman
6.Hulk

Iron man is not iconic character, he only had success in theaters. and it's not just what makes a character iconic.

These 6 characters that I cited were already famous and beloved worldwide even before appearing in theaters.

midnightrain890 - 8/26/2014, 2:04 PM
for everyone saying iron man isn't iconic. I feel iconic isn't just the comics, the movies also can push a character into being iconic. with the batman movies batman would not be as well known as he is. same thing for superman. they would still be iconic but just not as they are now. iron man comics may be not be popular but because of the movies everyone knows who iron man is. thats why he's at number 5 and not at number 4, 3, 2 , or 1. while i feel wolverine, flash, green lantern, hulk, and captain america are very worthy at taking iron man spot, i just iron man has had more of an impact than those 5. but i won't argue with anyone who says those 5 are more iconic than iron man. this is really just my opinion on who is more iconic.
TheDudeRusty - 8/26/2014, 2:22 PM
Superman
Batman
Spider-Man
Wolverine
Hulk
Jollem - 8/26/2014, 2:23 PM
currently, in pop-culture i would say iron man is rather popular. but one of the most popular of all time? hell no

that's like saying justin beiber is currently more popular than elvis. sure. but of all time? hell no
unknownfacts - 8/26/2014, 2:24 PM
The top three spots will always belong Batman,Spider-man,and Superman after that four and five will be between Hulk,Wolverine,or Catwoman.Cap and Wonder woman would be in the top 10 usually no higher then the sixth spot.
MrCBM56 - 8/26/2014, 2:31 PM
1. Batman
2. Superman
3. Spider-Man
4. Wonder Woman
5. Hulk
Dingbat - 8/26/2014, 2:34 PM
People seem to forget Iron Man has literally only been well known/popular for 6 years. That is not a long tome at all. Superman and Batman have endured 75-76 years and are still numbers 1 and 2 respectively. We need to wait and see if Iron Man endures in the public eye. We're talking about a character that couldn't even hold his own cartoon in the 90's. Personally I think Iron Man will always be remembered by this generation regardless of what happens in the future but people might get tired of him and once RDJ is done with the role it might be over for a while.
Darktower - 8/26/2014, 2:35 PM
SO TRUE...
GliderMan - 8/26/2014, 2:35 PM
1. Captain America is better than all five, IMO, and even if he isn't he definitely deserves a slot in the top 3.

2. Why is grammar so hard for some folks?
GinjaNinja - 8/26/2014, 2:38 PM
1. Batman
2. Spiderman
3. Superman
4. Wolverine
5. Wonderwoman.

If we were going on popularity Iron man is probably number 1 honestly. Every little kid knows him now
Omarvls - 8/26/2014, 2:41 PM
5. Wolverine
4. Iron Man
3. Superman
2. Spider Man
1. Batman

Wonder Woman

Yeah right @Jollem
Jollem - 8/26/2014, 2:48 PM
that's like saying justin beiber is currently more popular than elvis. sure. but of all time? hell no
Thebest2 - 8/26/2014, 2:53 PM
@Jollem

Exactly!
gamecreatorjj - 8/26/2014, 3:07 PM
@Omarvls I do says so, but I'm not alone. I have 75 years of comic book history support as well. A character that goes from b-list to a-list just because of a movie isn't iconic, they are just a film character.

And about Black Panther, that's a false equivalency. Besides that, I never even mentioned the fact that her or superman were the first of their kind, because that doesn't mean anything. Spring Heeled Jack isn't an iconic superhero even though he was the first.
DCGuy - 8/26/2014, 3:17 PM
1.Superman
2.Batman
3.Wonder Woman
4.Flash
5.Spiderman
6.Wolverine
7.Ironman
8.Capt America
9.Green Lantern
10.Aquaman
thunderforce - 8/26/2014, 3:28 PM
The most iconic super hero is Thor God Thunder because he has been around for thousands of years and I don't see a day in the week named after Superman .
Arrowhead77 - 8/26/2014, 3:28 PM
1. Superman
2. Batman
3. Spiderman
4. Wonder Woman
5A. Captain America
5B. Iron Man
sKeemAn - 8/26/2014, 3:36 PM
1) Batman
2) Superman
3) Spider-Man
4) Wonder Woman
5) Hulk

Unfortunately i believe Iron Man needs at least 10 more years of popularity to become iconic.
Dingbat - 8/26/2014, 3:48 PM
Green Lantern and Flash are definitely still top 10
Dingbat - 8/26/2014, 3:52 PM
1. Superman
2. Batman
3. Spider-Man
4. Wolverine
5. Wonder Woman

Those last 2 are switchable
SniktBub - 8/26/2014, 4:06 PM
I agree with the people saying that Iron Man is popular, not iconic. A few more years and a few more classic storylines would do the trick
Interestein - 8/26/2014, 4:19 PM
1. Batman
2. Superman
3. Spider-Man
4. Iron Man
5. Wolverine

for popularity, anyway.
metropolisman - 8/26/2014, 4:28 PM
lol to all those people putting wonder woman below #3....shes not just an icon to DC fans...the only super hero that every woman in the world wants to be is wonder woman....and last i checked girls accounted for 50% of the population....i garuntee no woman knows who the hell black widow is.....and to all those who say wonder woman is just a dc icon...not a chance....everyone know's who wonder woman is...Lol i'm sorry...i know how bad you marvel fans want to be in the top 3 but not a chance wonder woman isn't #3

1.Superman
2.Batman
3.Wonderwoman
4.Spiderman
5.Ironman/Wolverine/Flash/Aquaman (probably all tied for #5)
metropolisman - 8/26/2014, 4:34 PM
no offense and i may be way wrong here but i'm going to go out on a limb and bet that the majority of you who put wonder woman below #3 are americans.... and i love the US and United States citizens but some times you are extremely narrow minded when it comes to how the rest of the world perceives things...
staypuffed - 8/26/2014, 4:37 PM
I don't exactly agree with your list. Spider-Man is more iconic than Wonder Woman, and Wolverine and Captain America deserve to be here.
metropolisman - 8/26/2014, 4:40 PM
@gliderman

thats a perfect example of what i'm talking about...maybe in the US captain america is really popular but the rest of us really didn't even care about captain america until those movies came out...
