Stan Lee's Greatest Creations IMHO

Hello, everyone. I have been doing a lot of thinking and I have come with my opinion of what Stan Lee's greatest creations are...

Stan Lee did not create the best selling superheroes of all time (Superman and Batman) but he did create a wide variety of massively popular characters including Daredevil, The Hulk, Ironman and many more. In the 60's Lee set out to create a new brand of superheroes quite on the contrary to the hugely popular boy scouts like Superman, Captain America, Captain Marvel etc. Stan Lee created a new breed of characters that the public could relate to. These are the five Stan Lee creations that I believe stand above the others. Please enjoy, and leave your feedback in the comment box.

5. Daredevil

Daredevil, the blind vigilante who uses his super senses to stop some of the darkest crime in New York. Now, the number 5 spot came down to Daredevil or Ironman, and I had to pick Daredevil. Daredevil is one of Lee's best creations because of his Batman-esque darkness and his relatability. He is quite relatable in many ways especially to the people who have a setback or disability. They can see like the man without fear that having a curse can be turned into a blessing. Like Daredevil's blindness resulting in his other senses being super powerful. Daredevil is one of Lee's best in my opinion, and one of my favorites.

4. The Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four, the "family" that was hit with cosmic rays transforming them into superheroes, they became known as The Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four have been one of the most recognizable superhero team ups right up there with Justice League and the X-Men. I find the Fantastic Four to be somewhat cheesy, but extremely enjoyable. It's great to see a team with only a few members and if any one of those members is absent the team pretty much falls apart. I like all of the characters, but particularily the Thing. Thing has been one of my favorite for a long time, I really related to the character as I was growing up because as a young teenager I was larger (taller and thicker, not fatter) than all the other children. While I was bigger and stronger I wasn't coordinated enough to make any sports teams. I was called "misfit" and my long standing nickname was "chunk" I know I'm sounding like a baby, but I was like 10 years old. Anyways I related to Thing because of that and I began to love the entire Fantastic Four.

3. The Hulk

The Hulk, the massive green monster, generally (though it's debatable) Hulk is regarded as Marvel's physically strongest hero. The Hulk is my favorite individual comic book character, I think he is one of the best because people can really relate to his anger management problems. He is easily one of Marvel's most recognizable characters, I liked him for similar reasons as to why I like the Thing. But Hulk to a greater extent because I also could feel his inner rage. Hulk is one of Lee's greatest.

2. Spider-Man

Spider-Man, the web slinging teen hero. Spider-Man is probably the most popular Marvel character of all time, and definitely in the top 3 superheroes of all time. Spidey is widely recognized and loved by the general public as a relatable superhero that goes through everyday problems just like every normal person. Spider-Man is awesome for his abilities, strength and skills. Spidey has shown capable of bringing down beasts like the Hulk, he is one of the most capable and relatable superheroes of all time and that's why I (and many, many others) love him so much.

1. The X-Men

The X-Men, the team of mutants that fight to be accepted in modern society. The X-Men get first place in my opinion because they have a massively wide variety of totally unique characters. Wolverine, Cyclops, Iceman, Storm, Magneto, Jean Grey, Colossus, Shadowcat and Angel to name a few are all long standing X-Men who are all totally unique and awesome in their own way. Also the biggest reason for me is that the X-Men fight the same battle we fight everyday. The fight to be accepted by society. They fight for equality and rights along with battling against those who have hatred toward them simply because they are different. The X-Men are my favorite superhero team and Stan Lee's greatest creation in my opinion.

That is all. Ant-Man, Ironman and Silver Surfer are a few other notable ones. I can't exactly say Thor was created by Lee because Thor has been around for centuries. Keep in mind that this is simply my opinion, if you disagree then voice your own opinion. Thank you for reading and as always feedback and red glove is appreciated. (though not required)

Good list. I know Stan Lee created all of these characters, and he really is "the man", but I want to give a shout-out to the co-creators of these 5 creations...Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Bill Everett. These guys, along with others, for example, Bill Finger(co-creator of batman), always seem to be overlooked when it comes to the legacy of these great characters.
Jollem - 12/12/2012, 5:15 PM
stan lee is a co-creator. but yeah, good stuff
GuardianDevil - 12/12/2012, 5:16 PM
I know that there were other people who helped. But I think we all know that Lee was the brain behind it all.
Jollem - 12/12/2012, 5:22 PM
@Fenix122 - i respectfully disagree. stan lee pitched in along with many other people to create what we know as the marvel universe
marvel72 - 12/12/2012, 5:54 PM

The awkward moment when X-Men is a ripoff of Doom Patrol.
Jollem - 12/12/2012, 8:16 PM
stan lee = paul mccartney

jack kirby = john lennon

don heck, joe simon, john romita sr., steve ditko and a bunch of other people make up the rest of the marvelbeatles

and since then, even many people today contribute to the mythology that we all love. not just in marvel-but in all comicdom :)
GuardianDevil - 12/12/2012, 8:47 PM
No offense man, but I'm really sick of hearing that. Just because they both have egotistical and slightly megalomaniacal leaders in wheelchairs doesent mean that it's a ripoff.

And I agree with everyone there were many more people who have contributed to Marvel, but Lee was and has been the biggest driving force.
Jollem - 12/12/2012, 9:00 PM
@Fenix122 - i will agree with you that stan lee is awesome at the business game :)
iuhgluiblbjjkhkjhkljh - 12/12/2012, 9:05 PM
@Fenix122 Just like many Marvel characters, X-Men is a DC ripoff. You want a REAL comic book genius, look at Bob Kane.
MrReese - 12/12/2012, 9:06 PM
5 The Avengers
4 The Fantastic 4
3 X-Men
2 The Incredible Hulk
1 Spider-Man
superherofan21 - 12/12/2012, 9:06 PM
Flip X-Men with Spider-Man and then you have the REAL list.
GuardianDevil - 12/12/2012, 9:27 PM
Again, starting a fan war is not my motivation, so please don't take offense. Im a neutral fan anyway, but while I agree that Marvel has had a few obvious ripoff characters like Moon Knight, Mockingbird, Reed Richards. But (I addressed this in my Marvel or DC article) DC has ripped Marvel off as well, Steel? Don't try and say that Steel is not an Ironman ripoff. Aquaman? Aquaman is essentially a carbon copy of Namor excet hes far weaker. Lobo? I really wouldn't think of Lobo as a ripoff, but it's even been said that Lobo is intended to be an over the top Wolverine parody. The only character in Doom Patrol that similar to X-Men is Xavier and Chief.
I respectfully disagree.
Alphadog - 12/12/2012, 11:50 PM
Stan lee didn't create the idea of the avengers, Gardner fox did with the justice society.
GuardianDevil - 12/13/2012, 12:00 AM
Agreed. Whoever created Doom Patrol obviously left something crucial out of it. Otherwise it would have been more popular. I believe Bob Kane had a hand in the Batman stories...
Spideyguy94 - 12/13/2012, 2:40 AM
I'd say

3)Iron Man

5)Fantastic Four

Good Stuff man

@CaptainCanti Bon Kane didn't create batman, bill finger did. Bob Kane was just smarter than bill finger and got the copyright so he could say he created batman. And intruder is right batman is not a character you want to use to say someone ripped off, because batman for the first year or 2 was a carbon copy of the shadow so much so that detective comics 27 Is a rip off of a shadow story. Bob Kane is not the guy who made batman what he is today, guys like Denny O'neil, Frank Miller, Chuck Dixon and Grant Morrison just to name a few made batman what he is today.
Spideyguy94 - 12/13/2012, 2:42 AM
^^^^^^ that list I said is in terms of popularity not my favourites.
Happy11 - 12/13/2012, 3:49 AM
I do recognise Stan Lee or Bob Kane as creators because they had the original idea or thought then gave their ideas to the artists who designed the look eg Bill gates invented Microsoft but he wasn't on the production line mass producing I know it's nothing to do with comics but you get the jist of what I'm saying lol
marvel72 - 12/13/2012, 5:04 AM
i bet dc wished the doom patrol were as popular as the x-men.that's what stan lee did he may of done his own version/take of a dc character/team & just made them better.
jessepostal - 12/13/2012, 5:39 AM
As you get older you realize nothing is what it's said to be, everything is someone else's, people get credit for things that they stole from someone else, that's life and we will never know the answer to most of the who originally did it questions, just who gets the credit.
EdgyOutsider - 12/13/2012, 7:59 AM
I will agree with, Intruder, about the holy trinity. As far as Stan Lee's greatest creation goes, (I am biased) I will have to say his greatest creation is (who I feel) the greatest superhero ever created... Spider-Man.
justified1 - 12/13/2012, 8:40 AM
anything Stan Lee touches is instantly his greatest creation
justified1 - 12/13/2012, 8:40 AM
SomTingWong - 12/13/2012, 2:43 PM
of all of these... I think daredevil wins. I like x-men as much as the next but daredevil is just better
dellamorte1872 - 12/13/2012, 3:49 PM
anyone ever stop and think...only 2 of those are owned by MARVEL and prolly will be for decades. lets face it THOSE are the 5 best creations STAN THE MAN had
dellamorte1872 - 12/13/2012, 3:51 PM

FrozenJoy - 12/13/2012, 6:51 PM
1. Spider-Man
2. X-Men
3. The Avengers
4. Fantastic Four
