Constantine Sequel In The Works?

Constantine Sequel In The Works?

Lauren Shuler Donner, who produced the first film, talks briefly about the movement on Constantine sequel and says that she hopes it will happen eventually...

While she was was attending Saturn Awards, where she received the Producer's Showcase Award, Lauren Shuler Donner talked about the progress on the Constantine sequel. Even though we didn't hear a lot of news regarding the sequel she said that she hopes it will happen soon.

Here is what she had to say:

"We tried it, we always got there, and then we had a few bumps in the road. Keanu was involved with us, everybody was. We just had a few bumps in the road."

"We’re gonna try again...we heard a good take."

The 2005 comic book adaptation was directed by Francis Lawrence and many fans were left disappointed while other liked it a lot. I am one of those who really enjoyed the movie and I liked the direction of the film. Also Keanu Reeves did a good job as John Constantine in my opinion, and it still remains to see will he return or not.

The first film was a mediocre box office success, earning around $230 million dollars worldwide. So, what are your thoughts about a sequel? Would you like to see Keanu Reeves reprising his role of John Constantine or would you like to see someone else in that role?

That's good news. I really liked the first one though being based so loosely. At least it established that with the movie versions name is Constantine with a 'teen' but not 'tine'.
RorMachine - 6/28/2010, 2:34 PM
Great find Wolvie. I'd be well up for this.
Jayisawesome - 6/28/2010, 2:36 PM

SHAZAM171 - 6/28/2010, 2:43 PM
I loved this movie. Even though it wasn't exactly like the comic, it is one of the only exceptions.I hope they make a sequel. LOL
My new necklace. It's angelic script it's the symbol for Raphael the Archangel warrior.

And my Tattoo which means Guardian Angel of the planet Mercury and the sign GEMINI.
odie00 - 6/28/2010, 2:48 PM

BigL1979 - 6/28/2010, 2:50 PM
I loved Constantine. It had one of the best movie one liners ever. "Going down?" "Not if I can help it." hilarious.
RorMachine - 6/28/2010, 2:52 PM
Shazam, cool tat. I have one on my forearm there too, but a Peruvian Shamanic design. I want to get something on the other arm to even em out, but I haven't really seen one in ages that appeals to me.
ClintEastwood - 6/28/2010, 2:56 PM
Hated it.
SHAZAM171 - 6/28/2010, 2:57 PM
My other forearm is the HEROES symbol. LOL Pretty cool, post a pic man.
HelaGood - 6/28/2010, 3:04 PM

starscream4president - 6/28/2010, 3:06 PM
One of my favorite Keanu movies!!! Really love it. I'd really wanna see a sequel.

ROMACK - 6/28/2010, 3:18 PM

Deathmetalbrian - LOL

Either way i hope they do make a second one ... I liked the first one... I also want a Second Silent Hill damn it
Bobsuncorp - 6/28/2010, 3:36 PM
The first movie was a pretty good adaptation of the book where Constantine was dying of lung cancer. I think that any sequel should be an adaptation of the one (can't remember the names) where a demon takes over the inhabitants of London (although it could be changed to NY) and turns it into a corner of hell. Alternatively, the story where Constantine is sent to prison (a US one funnily enough) and creates illusions so that the inmates tear it apart. Or any of the other dozens (that I know of) of stories that kick ass.
Rolanddeschain19 - 6/28/2010, 3:37 PM
constantine 2!.......... as the beastie boys once said.....................KICK IT!
iwantmyPuckspinoff - 6/28/2010, 3:50 PM
I actually dug the first movie, even with the americanization of Constantine. If Keanu isn't available, I'd aim to get Clive Owens on board. Or if James Bond continues to be stuck in limbo with MGM's bankruptcy issues, they could see if Daniel Craig was interested. Either of those two could be great for the role.
Timerider84 - 6/28/2010, 4:05 PM
I liked the first film, I hope Keanu returns for the sequel. I wouldn't mind 2 sequels in fact.
BryEL - 6/28/2010, 4:07 PM
Seriously, I LOVE Constantine, I can re-watch it and still get caught up into it. I watched the movie before I bought the first 5 issues of volume one.

BIIIIIIGGGGG difference, but the movie is still enjoyable.
LEEE777 - 6/28/2010, 4:09 PM
Cool, WB sh1T on the comic book, but that [frick]ing HOLLYWOOD for you! : P
LEEE777 - 6/28/2010, 4:10 PM
Goderic - 6/28/2010, 4:24 PM
I liked the first movie. I hope this is even better.
fanboiii - 6/28/2010, 4:25 PM
I don't know why they didn't make a sequel earlier! I actually like the Constantine movie more than Hellboy.
Denn1s - 6/28/2010, 4:36 PM
that movie sucked. boring and inconsistent...
Vital - 6/28/2010, 5:15 PM
Constantine is on my top 10
TheSuperSoldier - 6/28/2010, 5:23 PM
I'm tired of Vampires (unless another Blade comes out). I WANT MORE DEMONS!!!
AlexDeLarge87 - 6/28/2010, 5:38 PM
H*ll yeah!!:D The first one was cool! But this time bring in more faithful movie! Peter Stormare was f*cking creepy as Lucifer!!:D
fanboiii - 6/28/2010, 5:51 PM
@SHAZAM171 sick tattoo. i used to be really into angelology

Has anyone ever read Crimson by Wildstorm?
continuezero - 6/28/2010, 5:51 PM
AHHHHHHHHH...that explains everything now...I thought the first movie looked good but then sucked hard when I actually watched it. It gave me the same feeling as FF2:Rise of that Surfer Dude...looked cool before it came out and then sucked the life literally from the pages of the comics themselves. Here I find out that our good friend; "Lauren Shuler Donner" was behind both of them...

This chick must go out of her way to screw everything up. It is a good day in CBM world when someone finally fires this chick. Maybe Constantine 2 is just the trick to do it...

"DOWN WITH DONNER" (The movement starts here)
ReddHotPoker - 6/28/2010, 6:51 PM
I liked the first one. Keanu did good, but I think enough time has passed that if they did want to go with someone else, they probably could get away with it. No ideas on who tho.
UncleDrew - 6/28/2010, 7:15 PM
It was a little dissapointing but Keanu Reeves did great as always and I'll give the sequel(if it happens) another shot. Hopefully they bring back Keanu Reeves back because he is the reason why I kept watching it.
DasBoot - 6/28/2010, 7:25 PM
I loved the 1st one, except for the scene where he's yelling at the girl to think about what her sister saw in the hospital. Besides that it was great, and I want Reeves back in the role
Constantine - 6/28/2010, 7:47 PM
Truly hope this is indeed true. Despite it being very different from the comic, this is by far my favourite CBM. Seen it a thousand times and I still enjoy it like it was the first.

The depiction of Hell in this film is the best I've ever seen.
Ven0m - 6/28/2010, 7:47 PM
This movie was bad ass. Sequel would be [frick]ing awesome.
juggy4711 - 6/28/2010, 10:13 PM
I'd watch it. I thought the first was was good but I thought I read that KR wasn't interested in doing a sequel.
Betty - 6/28/2010, 11:24 PM
You guys are crazy. That movie blows!
