SDCC '13: Stephanie Brown Almost Made New 52 Introduction In 'FOREVER EVIL'

DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee stated that while the comic book publisher plans storylines well ahead into the future, it's a "constantly shifting landscape." Case in point, the upcoming fallout from "Trinity War" is "Forever Evil" which sees the villains triumphant in the aftermath of the various Justice Leagues fighting amongst themselves. In that chaos, fellow co-publisher Dan DiDio reveals that Stephanie Brown was almost set to make her New 52 introduction however, his description sounds like it's probably best she's not going to be included at least in terms of Brown having a lasting presence. Said DiDio, "Where we stand is that there are a number of characters that we still haven't introduced into the New 52. Is Stephan Brown a fan of yours (asked Didio to the interviewer)? She almost made the Forever Evil storyline but actually, for the fans of hers, they'll be happy she didn't. Where we stand right now is that there's a lot going on in the Batman universe, Batman, Inc. is coming to an end but we have a few new series we're thinking about down the road...[Stephanie's] name comes up on a regular basis but for all these characters we haven't introduced, it's not that they don't exist, it's that time and the right launch. We don't want to just introduce her to say there she is and then have her disappear. Nobody wins on that."

I Still have no idea who the hell Stephanie Brown is....
duncboy - 7/22/2013, 3:46 AM
Female Robin from before The New 52
duncboy - 7/22/2013, 3:47 AM
They should have left Damian alive, kept Barbara in the wheel chair, and left another character in the Bat-girl role.
batnerd04 - 7/22/2013, 3:53 AM
@duncboy: I agree or since Damian is "dead" they should've went with Stephanie instead of Carrie.
CherryBomb - 7/22/2013, 4:47 AM
Stephanie has always been one of my favourite characters, I loved her relationship with Robin. I really hope they bring her back soon and give her some great involvement in storylines. She deserves it and I even loved her as batgirl , she was fun.
SigmaCenturion - 7/22/2013, 6:05 AM
How is she fan favorite?
MarkJulian - 7/22/2013, 6:26 AM
@CherryBomb Omg, you're a Brit. :(
CherryBomb - 7/22/2013, 6:47 AM

@MarkJulian Haha, yes, I am a Brit!
LeaderVladimir - 7/22/2013, 7:21 AM
I could understand DC's stance in not introducing characters because they wouldn't know what to do with. I'm patient with this.
rbfn04 - 7/22/2013, 7:36 AM
No Stephanie, yet they bring a non canon character in Carrie... Yeah...
LEVITIKUZ - 7/22/2013, 7:55 AM
How could Mark tell CherryBomb is a Brit from that statement?

Also people want to see Stephanie back?
wookiefit - 7/22/2013, 8:56 AM
I don't mind her character. Thought her dynamic with other characters was what made her interesting. The banter between her as Spoiler with the second Batgirl was fun. I hated how they used her as Robin or only 2 books. They announced it as not a 1 book deal, so she was dropped as Robin after 2 books. Always wondered what happened to her when they made Barbra Batgirl again.

I want to see Cassandra Cain more then Stephanie Brown. But that does not mean I don't want Stephanie. I just am more of a Cassandra fan.
CherryBomb - 7/22/2013, 10:05 AM

@LEVITIKUZ I want to know how he knew that too haha, and yes I WANT STEPH BACK.
Lostcause - 7/22/2013, 10:25 AM
@Cherrybomb, in the states we don't spell "Favourite" the way they do on the other side of the pond. That's how LEVITIKUZ knew. favorite.
CherryBomb - 7/22/2013, 11:25 AM

@Lostcause aaah, I see! :) haha, you guys are very perceptive.

@Pasto I'm a girl! I thought it was public knowledge by now, ha
DukeAcureds - 7/22/2013, 11:39 AM
Stephanie Brown probably won't be making an appearance whilst DiDio is joint-chief. At least I hope not, because if she does, she'll probably be an evil mutant monster who gets killed off really fast insome hideous, hideous manner.
DukeAcureds - 7/22/2013, 11:43 AM
CherryBomb@ So you're a female Brit, I'm a male Bit, Teabag's a male Brit... are you thinking what I'm thinking?
CherryBomb - 7/22/2013, 2:26 PM

@DukeAcureds Haha, although i do love me some Teabag, I must reject that creepy suggestion!
DukeAcureds - 7/22/2013, 2:51 PM
What, I was thinking there's a lot of Brits on this site. What on earth were you thinking? heh heh
alucard365 - 7/22/2013, 3:52 PM
I rather have Cassandra Cain back
MarkJulian - 7/22/2013, 4:59 PM
JorEllinator - 7/23/2013, 12:27 PM
