FOX Talking Daredevil Reboot Sans-Ben Affleck

According to 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman, "A Daredevil reboot is something we are thinking very seriously about."
"I think that the thing the Hulk showed although, it did what it did, is that it is possible, that if you really do it right the audience will give you a second chance," Rothman told IESB.net. "And I think that you see that when they did 'Batman Begins,' the first Nolan movie, that you can make some mistakes along the way, or movies that the audience aren’t that crazy about, and then given the proper amount of time and the right creative vision behind it, you can reboot."

The 2003 Daredevil, movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starring Ben Affleck made over $100 million in the U.S., although the film was generally panned by critics. Given FOX's lackluster summer, rumors started earlier this month about the potential reboot.

Given that "going dark" is all the rage right now (with the success of The Dark Knight), would a new Daredevil movie head in that direction?

"I don’t know because what it really needs is, it needs a visionary at the level that Chris Nolan was," said Rothman. "It needs someone, it needs a director, honestly, who has a genuine vision. What we wouldn’t do is just do it for the sake of doing it."

More details are sure to be forthcoming, but it is a sure bet that Ben Affleck won’t be playing the lead if/when a new project comes together. He's on record as saying he won't be putting on the red leather and horns EVER again. See the quote HERE. Of course earlier he DID say he'd return if it went darker. See that story HERE.

Looooove Daredevil...haaaaated Affleck's portrayal! With someone like Nolan at the reins, a reboot of this franchise could be dynamite!!!

I could care less if Affleck returned but Michael Clarke Duncan is a one-of-a-kind guy, please bring him back.

it was a good film! bearing in mind i was like 14 when it came out and I had just started to rabidly read the similar story lines with Bullseye around the same time...still enjoy it though

I think Daredevils harshly judged, sure it didnt pull up any trees but the directors cut at least was far from the worse superhero flick ive seen or been presented with. The character itself i think is rather underrated and although i dont think he was a fraction as terrible as people have convinced themselves Ben Affleck being replaced would be the only way to go so people can see daredevil as a character and not ben afflecks latest flirtation.

Perosnally minus some of the cheese(playground fight scene for instance) and the horrible casting of people that look nothing like their CB counterparts I think the original's director's cut was a really good flick.

Still I hope DD doesnt get rebooted till the rigths revert back to marvel and they can do it as good as they have so far with their other flicks. I dont really trust Fox to get it rigth, even with a second oportunity.

I think the studios should relinquish their rights to some of their less success properties back to marvel, sure spider-man and x-men wont be but come on youve tried upteen punisher flicks, some fantastic fours and a daredevil...let marvil reboot and incorporate into their universe and well get some kick ass or at least very passable flicks, obviously this is quite unlikely but does anyone know how marvel got back the hulk rights? did they buy them back or only sell the endorsements for one film?

Matthew Fox as DareDevil.

DareDevil needs to get his own movie series, the first one was good movie and really should have been continued on. I try to find fault in the movie and it's very difficult to do maybe at some points it was a little light hearted but there was a sort of counterbalance with those moments. MCD was really good as the Kingpin and should be in any reboot that would be done.

If they make a new Daredevil movie it has to be Born Again by Miller. NO other Daredevil story has the punch to be a great movie.
