ARROW: Character Description For Season 3's Big Bad - 'Ra's Al Ghul'

A detailed character casting description from Season 3 of Batman-lite aka Arrow has been uncovered revealing details about this upcoming season's big bad, Ra's al Ghul, and from the looks of it, we might see him much sooner than we initially thought. Come check it out!

CW's Arrow has already given us the Dark Archer (John Barrowman) and Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) as major villains for Season 1 and Season 2 respectively and next season the stakes get even higher when Ra's al Ghul comes to town.

You may want to take this news with a grain of salt, but a detailed character description for the casting of the iconic character has been posted on Reddit revealing a few key details of what we might be able to expect to see in the fall. The description is said to come from a breakdown of Episode 4, which is currently shooting and was revealed to be titled "The Magician" a few short days ago. Even though it's a bit of a stretch, could the Demon's Head be the aforementioned magician? You can check out his character description below:

Should we expect someone similiar to Tom Hardy's Bane? This episode will be the show's 50th, so having Ra's al Ghul appear to commemorate the occasion seems plausible. What do you guys think? It's obviously a good move for the show, but is Arrow becoming more and more like Batman-lite? Sound off with your thoughts below!

In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

Arrow features:
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Arrow
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak
David Ramsey as John Diggle
Willa Holland as Thea Queen
Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance
Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal
Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance
John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer
Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke
Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/Canary
Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom

Arrow returns October 8.

I can dig this.

Not sure how to feel about Ra's being on Arrow

BobGarlen - 8/16/2014, 9:23 AM
Christopher Lambert would be perfect!
typicalfanboy - 8/16/2014, 9:24 AM
if they go ethnic, i can see oded fehr and naveen andrews play the role. if peter stomare wasn't playing count vertigo, then he would be interesting too.
goatman - 8/16/2014, 9:25 AM
Arrow is the best Batman TV show ever. And Gotham will be the best Bruce Wayne show ever. I can't wait to see a Bane-like version of Ra's Al Ghul in the Starling City version of Batman Begins' Gotham. It's going to be awesome.

Seriously, I find Arrow entertaining, and watch it each week, but I don't know if I will be able to make it through another season of League of Shadows references. I hope they step up their game a bit.
ibravosp5 - 8/16/2014, 9:26 AM
I kinda like arrow featuring batman villans tbh.... You can have victor Zaas as a villan or mini villan in one episode
Phronesis - 8/16/2014, 9:27 AM
Eh, I like the description.
ComicsBornAndBred - 8/16/2014, 9:30 AM
Arrow IS becoming Batman-lite!!! I love it but it's like it doesn't have it's own identity anymore. Utilizing Barman mythology like crazy. If a Batman show eer arises showcasing Batman, it'd be like damn AROOW using our world. Ra''s is strictly a Batman adversary I'm sorry. I think they'll do him justice on Arrow but it's starting to get tiresome..Batman references. The Arrow new 52 run proves tht Arrow and his mythology work well and are entertaining all on it's own
DrewDeLand - 8/16/2014, 9:33 AM
The series in my opinion will always be Batman like but Batman is DC's bread and butter and it they can use his outline and other things in their property, the whole grounded, dark, brooding, etc. type hero and have his villains why not use it
EhMaybeSays - 8/16/2014, 9:41 AM
I don't mind the inclusion of minor Batman villains like Firefly but they're taking too far with Ra's. GA has some decent villains they haven't utilised, this is kind of disappointing.
slyrax - 8/16/2014, 9:41 AM
If we can't get Oded Fehr, Naveen Andrews would be good.
Rokyn - 8/16/2014, 9:46 AM
How could you be disappointed if almost a fourth of Green Arrow's villains are from Batman's rouges gallery?...Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassins are part of Green Arrow's rouges gallery too..if you guys didn't know.
Dingbat - 8/16/2014, 9:48 AM
Why would you think Bane and not Ra's in Batman Begins?

slyrax - 8/16/2014, 9:48 AM
Clip of Naveen Andrews as Jafar from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, didn't watch much of the show but he made a pretty good villain.
ManDeth - 8/16/2014, 9:56 AM
Arrow has never had or even attempted to have it's own feel or unique style. It's basically nothing but a plagiarist TV show that steals every plotline, character, situation from Nolan's movies and other Batman mythos.

Arrow is like a traced drawing or some kid cheating on a test. It is a culmination of ideas stolen from others.

It is the only comic book based TV show in history with no style of it's own.
manowar - 8/16/2014, 9:59 AM
they probably put think Bane cause Bane had a more terrifying presence in TDKR than Ra's in Begins.
EhMaybeSays - 8/16/2014, 9:59 AM
Ra's Al Ghul and Green Arrow have never fought.
EhMaybeSays - 8/16/2014, 10:01 AM
Yeah, they plagiarised the romance, teen drama and awkward humour perfectly.
Klone - 8/16/2014, 10:01 AM
Arab/North African-English actor. No [frick]ing pale white American model pretty boy, Arrow.
n1ghtw1ng2832 - 8/16/2014, 10:09 AM
Jason Isaacs!
GuardianAngel - 8/16/2014, 10:24 AM
It makes sense to mention Bane because he felt like far more of a threat than Ra's in Batman Begins. Begins was more focused on Batman, whereas the sequels were great at establishing villains.
Pasto - 8/16/2014, 10:27 AM
Yes, Arrow is the only comic book show that is "unoriginal"...

*Tries not to look at Agents of SHIELD*
Spyder - 8/16/2014, 10:28 AM
Didn't they already cast the guy from the Mummy movies to play Ra's?
FirstAvenger - 8/16/2014, 10:32 AM
Once they mentioned the League of Assassins we all knew Ra's was coming, why are people complaining now?
breakUbatman - 8/16/2014, 10:40 AM
Ras better hand Arrow his ass, he was awesome in episode 13 of Beware the Batman. Schooled the detective
JorL5150 - 8/16/2014, 10:42 AM
Give the rights back to marvel !!!
DCGuy - 8/16/2014, 10:48 AM
Batman-lite? Ra's has had trouble with even Superman, Green Arrow & Flash... SMH King Patel needs to read a comic
DCGuy - 8/16/2014, 10:53 AM
Batman bad guys used by Arrow... Deathstroke (who is not Batman only) & Ra's (who is not batman only)

yes Dark Archer, Count vertigo, Bronze Tiger and mutliple others are not from Arrow...oh wait yes they are
Pasto - 8/16/2014, 10:55 AM
For once I'm agreeing with @DCGuy...

What in the Sam hell is happening to the world?
DCGuy - 8/16/2014, 10:58 AM
@Pasto <3 you have seen the light
Dingbat - 8/16/2014, 11:04 AM
Some people

2gold - 8/16/2014, 11:04 AM
Isn't Ra pretty much a world evil force? I'm not seeing the issue with him being the big bad. Even fits pretty damn perfectly with the storyline they set up.
Tainted87 - 8/16/2014, 11:05 AM
Ra's isn't exclusively Batman's bad guy - I mean he kind of wants to purge mankind.

In fact, if you look a the comics, you'll see that a few Batman villains didn't start out in Batman's pages - like Clock King or Shiva, but appeared in the cartoons as such. Merlyn, in fact, got his start trying to kill Batman, but Green Arrow stopped him. Deadshot was a Bat-villain before becoming a full-fledged character appearing in a starring capacity in Suicide Squad. A lot of these guys are interchangeable, and considering the Bat-embargo going on, I think we should be happy we're getting what we're getting.
DCGuy - 8/16/2014, 11:08 AM
Ra's has attacked the entire world and like I said has even gone Vs the entire league and Vs Superman

Deathstroke is NOT a batman bad guy at the most he should be a teen Titans bad guy if we start taking it like that.

Arrow has 2 Count vertigo's, Sharpnel, Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Dark Archer, Clock king and more...
DCGuy - 8/16/2014, 11:10 AM
Funny how @Klone now does not want white people in shows...I forgot about how everyone is black in comics?

oh right Klone is a racist that said that the JL team should not include Cyborg because diversity of race is not a factor that applies to a hero

TheFox - 8/16/2014, 11:44 AM
"... is Arrow becoming more and more like Batman-lite?"

Uh, Arrow has ALWAYS been Batman-Lite. The whole reason I started WATCHING Arrow was because the series looked like a small-screen riff on Batman Begins. And it's not like this is a new concept-- Green Arrow is famously known to be a straight rip-off of Bats, even having an Arrow-Car, an Arrow-Cave, and an Arrow-Plane during the Silver Age.

It's not so shocking that Arrow would cop villains the Dark Knight's rogues gallery. That's, like, their bread and butter...

TheFox - 8/16/2014, 11:47 AM
Mind you, I LIKE Arrow. A lot. Just because he started off as a conceptual knock-off of Batman, and just because the show started as a tonal riff on the Dark Knight films, doesn't make it inferior... the show has taken what Batman had and made it its own thing.

So yeah, he's Batman-Lite... but hey, there are much worse things to be.

Klone - 8/16/2014, 11:47 AM
You are an idiot. That is a fact. The same idiot that decided to birch and moan at me for making a short list of villains I'd like to with your precious Parasite not being present.

I said Cyborg is only there because of his skin colour. I hate Cyborg as a JL founder simply because of his character not fitting in my opinion, not his black skin. So not wanting a character to be there for understandable reasoning with skin colour not even mattering and pointing out the obvious truth of why Cyborg is there is now racist? People overuse that word and no longer know what the [frick] it means.

Ra's Al Ghul is an Arab. He was born in Arabia somewhere. The man is an Arab. I am somehow racist by wishing we could have an actor who is Arab/North African over some pale white man? That's racism? Wanting the ethnicity to be accurate? Absolute idiot. Knowing you, you response will consist of insults with a condescending tone to try and make up for your lack of abilities to argue well. Learn what racism is because too many people like you with the brains of 10 years (if that is your age, would explain a lot) throw that word around far too much.

Fool, fool, foolish fool.
