ARROW Episode 1x14 'The Odyssey' Poll & Discussion, Promo For Episode 1x15 'Dodger'

What did you think of tonight's episode of Arrow? Did Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) live up to your expectations? How many of you are falling in love just a bit with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) with each passing episode?

What did you think of the fourteenth episode of Arrow? It was assumed that Yao Fei (Byron Mann) would be the primary teacher of Oliver (Stephen Amell) but it looks like he'll get the majority of his skills from none other than Deathstroke himself, Slade Wilson. Also, did you catch the comic book easter egg for the "other Deathstroke"?

MANU BENNETT (“SPARTACUS”) GUEST STARS AS SLADE WILSON — After Oliver (Stephen Amell) is shot, he turns to a surprising person for help – Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Diggle (David Ramsey) is stunned when he sees Felicity walk through the front door of the lair dragging a dying Oliver behind her, and the two team up to save Oliver’s life. As Oliver (Stephen Amell) hovers between life and death, he flashes back to a seminal event on the island – a daring escape attempt with his new friend Slade Wilson (guest star Manu Bennett). Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne and Susanna Thompson also star. John Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim (#114).

COLTON HAYNES (“TEEN WOLF”) GUEST STARS AS ROY HARPER — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) tells Oliver (Stephen Amell) he’s all work and no play, so he asks Detective McKenna (guest star Janina Gavankar) on a date. A jewel thief named Dodger (guest star James Callis) hits Starling City and targets someone very close to Oliver. Meanwhile, while working with Laurel (Katie Cassidy), Thea (Willa Holland) gets her purse stolen by a very fast pickpocket named Roy Harper (guest star Haynes). Moira (Susanna Thompson) makes a move against Malcom (John Barrowman). Colin Donnell and Paul Blackthorne also star. Eagle Egilsson directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz (#115).

unknownfacts - 2/13/2013, 6:48 PM
Stranded on an island and my best friend's name is Wilson. That was pretty ironic.
soforizo - 2/13/2013, 6:55 PM
Manu made the episode.
Tymminator - 2/13/2013, 6:55 PM
What was the easter egg of the "other" Deathstroke? I'm not gonna get to see this for at least 3-4 days so please feel free to spoil me on that.
Hellsboy - 2/13/2013, 7:00 PM
AWESOME it was the best yet
ClarkFarley2012 - 2/13/2013, 7:04 PM
Slate was boss in this episode. Oliver's acting has gotten better. This show is coming along nicely.
GizmoEl - 2/13/2013, 7:19 PM
Best episode yet. Slade is probably the best character they have had on the show.
GuardianAngel - 2/13/2013, 7:30 PM
No, Oliver is Yao Fei's daughter! He had the same TATTOO!!!
MJPETTY7 - 2/13/2013, 7:32 PM
Probably the best episode of the series so far next to "Legacies" (which will ALWAYS stick with me). Great stuff, and I cannot wait for next week!

Space - 2/13/2013, 8:09 PM
Manu definitely made the episode. great stuff
ndwwrestler2 - 2/13/2013, 8:09 PM
What would be funny is if Shado ends up teaching Oliver how to shoot the Arrow.
ndwwrestler2 - 2/13/2013, 8:09 PM
Also, Great episode.
Logan276 - 2/13/2013, 8:19 PM
I didn't expect Shado at all! That was awesome!! Manu as Slade was a great casting choice, dude is badass! Overall it was another great ep, can't wait for the next one with Roy Harper.
Wingding - 2/13/2013, 8:43 PM
Who's shado, and who's bill wintergreen?!
Minghagz - 2/13/2013, 8:54 PM
lol @ the last poll option "Terrible...incidentally I'll be alone on Valentine's Day"

Felicity in Smoakin! (pun intended)

And Manu was a great casting choice!

Best show on TV right now.
Minghagz - 2/13/2013, 8:55 PM
^^^is not in
LP4 - 2/13/2013, 8:56 PM
@Wingding- I have not seen the episode yet. But as i recall Wintergreen was Slade's butler and closest friend.
Not sure if it's the SAME Wintergreen ur referring to though
fawfulmark2 - 2/13/2013, 8:57 PM

in the comics, Wintergreen was Slade's war buddy who assisted him during his manhunts until Slade killed him when possessed by Jericho.
Xeriath - 2/13/2013, 9:27 PM
I just finished watching it on my DVR. Hands down the best episode aired so far. Major props to the choreographers on this show. The fast paced fights are so awesome to watch. By the way, Slade Wilson is a total BAMF!

Some stand out scenes for me:

- Slade ambushing and owning all of those guards when Oliver was standing on the mine

- Slade's fight with his former partner Billy

I just love all of the island scenes in general and how they have been picking up lately and getting so much more interesting and action packed.

I will definitely be re-watching this episode MANY more times!
CharacterAssassin - 2/13/2013, 9:29 PM
Manu definitely owned this episode. Especially making Oliver try to start a fire for two hours just for the hell of it only to break out a Zippo lighter... lol

Enjoyed this one really well.
DCjohnny - 2/13/2013, 10:10 PM
this episode was outstanding ...

superotherside - 2/13/2013, 10:13 PM
Great episode, evidently it seems some of his training in hand to hand combat comes from Slade, yet other parts of his training come from Yao Fei (bow and arrow etc.). It seems like he has a good mix of both.
SKOne - 2/13/2013, 10:16 PM
The show just keeps improving and was quite a bit better without the CW romance stuff aside from Oliver's dream. I think China White's hair looks an order of magnitude better in the pictures too.
Battabing - 2/13/2013, 11:55 PM
With all the easter eggs going around, let's not forget that Yao Fei was created by Grant Morrison and is a member of the Chinese super team The Great Ten as The Most Accomplished Physician.
yinyangpalms - 2/14/2013, 12:29 AM
@Battabing So youre saying Grant Morrison created Fei and Fei is secretly gay?
RamonSuarez - 2/14/2013, 1:45 AM
Do you all know why this was by far the best episode of the series? Because it dispensed with the bullsh-t 90120/Dawson's Creek melodrama that ruined Smallville and went back to the Green Arrow's comic roots with good suspense, solid action, and the right amount of intrigue. This is exactly the type of approach they should take further down the line.

Great episode and the focus on the Island storyline was very nice.
But this episode had some minor plotholes in the writing.
They wanted Ollie to reveal himself to Felicity but it was rushed and not thought out well.
A. Why didn't Oliver use his com device to contact Diggs to tell him he was wounded?
B. How did Felicity open the door to the basement and come down the stairs without Diggs hearing anything when the steps are only several feet behind him?
c. Why did Felicity say to "The Hood":"How did you know my name?" but later act as if she had guessed who Ollie was?
D. Even if Felicity hacked the Police computer to instruct them to destroy evidence, why didnt the police simply go back and get more when there was plenty of blood there and the scene wouldve been still sealed off?

I'm not knocking the show but such flaws couldve easily been fixed with just a few tweaks to the script.
Ollie couldve found the com device damaged when trying to contact Diggs.
Simply have Diggs hear the door open to the basement.
Don't have Felicity imply she knew Ollie was the Hood at all.
And wait until the next day or episode to have Felicity or Ollie deal with the blood sample. I know they wanted to show Felicity's PC prowess and possible usefulness to team "Hood" but it couldve come later and we already had an idea about her PC skills.

The show couldve had a bit of a cliffhanger by having Detective Quentin Lance tell Ollie at the end of the show that they had "The Hoods" blood sample and it will help them catch him. Instead the show didnt have the cliffhanger type end it usually has and their was no build up for next week.

This Ep. was AWESOME!!! Slade killed it...literally...what a badass episode...

This show is gonna go down in history as one of the best Comic book adaptations ever!!!
HavocPrime - 2/14/2013, 4:48 AM
Best episode yet, Manu was so awesome as Slade and Arnell is really improving in each episode.
gmoney0505 - 2/14/2013, 6:37 AM
Great episode as always. No complaints here or nitpicks from me. Enjoyed every bit of it.

sameoldthing - 2/14/2013, 7:08 AM
Very cool episode but I am left really wondering how Slade becomes Ollie's bitter enemy in the future.

After all, we saw at the first of season the Deathstroke mask with arrow in eye socket.

With Slade putting the blade in Wintergreen's eye..does that foreshadow his loss of eye in the future? Hopefully they delve into this..Deathstroke MUST battle Ollie at some point.

ARROW is a fun show to watch if you know your DC characters..Slade,Wintergreen,Joe / Jericho & Shado all popping up. Nice!

drcomicbook - 2/14/2013, 7:43 AM
i loved it it was amazing I've always wanted an episode where the whole entire episode of his time on the island because this episode flipped the time of showing the island with showing the present
scapegoatjones - 2/14/2013, 8:02 AM
was that Barrowman on the phone acting as the guy 'who payed them a lot of money' to finance the pseudo-military presence on the island?

also Ollie should've broke out the "I'll triple it" line sooner lol
ForeverPowerful - 2/14/2013, 8:04 AM
Definitely my favorite episode yet. Everything was perfect. That flashback were Ollie called Laurel was haunting. Many is a bazaars, awesome as Slade. Glad Felicity is getting more time, always like her character. Show just keeps getting better.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 2/14/2013, 8:34 AM
Great show. Arrow just keeps rolling along. The cast' acting keeps improving. The chemistry between them is better.
Nivekian - 2/14/2013, 10:34 AM
I keep telling people just to start watching, they will catch on fast. Great episode, loved the Flashbacks and foreshadowing going on, especially with Slade and the Woman on the Island.
Zordan - 2/14/2013, 10:36 AM
