ARROW Producers Talk Villains And The Suicide Squad

Arrow's executive producers Mark Guggenheim and Andrew Kriesberg have been talking to The Hollywood Reporter about this weeks episode, "Heir to the Demon" and what lies in store for a certain team... Hit the jump to see what's happening!

This week's episode of Arrow sees the introduction of Ra's AL Ghul's less famous daughter Nyssa al Ghul, in an attempt to draw back Caity Lotz's Sarah Lance to the League of Assassins. Check out what Arrow's producers, Mark Guggenheim and Andrew Kriesberg had to say about Katrina Law's character:

Second to [Ra's al Ghul], [Nyssa]'s one of the most important figures in the League. They sent their first round of minions to come for Sara and that didn't go so well for them, so now they're bringing out the big guns

On the topic of the Suicide Squad showing up in future episodes, the duo confirmed that the team will return in episode 16, titled "Suicide Squad". The episode will revolve around Audry Marie Anderson's Lyla returning to recruit Diggle for a mission. The episode will focus strongly on Diggle, with flashbacks to his time in Afghanistan.

I'd shit myself if this guy made a cameo...

koolaidbag - 2/4/2014, 2:27 PM
This has nothing to do with suicide squad....unless this is still under construction in which case...WHY POST BEFORE YOU'RE DONE!!!!!!
koolaidbag - 2/4/2014, 2:29 PM
@Batz it doesn't need to be Liam, because then they would be mistakenly linking arrow to a dead franchise.
JoeMomma29 - 2/4/2014, 2:31 PM
LOL! This article is so short like Batz!
Bearjew - 2/4/2014, 2:43 PM
Suicide Squad is probably Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, hopefully Black Spider or some shit like that.
gamecreatorjj - 2/4/2014, 2:44 PM

jamesbrando3 - 2/4/2014, 2:49 PM
The THR article mentions 'Villains United' in the headline.... Anybody remember this mini-series?
iZinDiaN - 2/4/2014, 2:50 PM
I really hope they add more WELL KNOWN Suicide Squad members other than Dead Shot and Bronze Tiger. Harley Quinn anyone? ... :3
Jhuntdaprodigy - 2/4/2014, 2:52 PM
@iZinDian They definitely will not use Harley Quinn on Arrow. They'll surely save her for a solo Batfleck movie.
ezio619 - 2/4/2014, 2:53 PM
finally,i love diggle but he hasnt had much to do since his big episode with deadshot back in ep .6 so yeah very cool and the suicide squad, curious who, besides Bronze Tiger is on the team and well, Deadshot
JoJo1982 - 2/4/2014, 2:56 PM
Well we know king shark is off the list

Though Arrow, as of late, has focused on the Lance family dynamic -- and certainly Wednesday's episode continues that trajectory -- Kreisberg said that the next batch of episodes, kicking off Feb. 26 after a short break, are villain-centric ("villains a go-go," as he endearingly termed it). "It's just villain, villain, villain, great big villains, one after the other," Kreisberg said, hinting that some will be "returning favorites and a couple of amazing brand-new ones."
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim added that episodes 14 through 18 "are very much the villains' chapter [of the story] and it builds" to episode 18, which he promised is Arrow's "big mid-midseason cliffhanger, if you will."

Slade will not succeed in his plan at the end of the season with corrupting Oliver. Yes people will get hurt. One character might die. If they do kill off another character. It has to be Laurel Lance. Keep the Black Canary now.

Slade will end up in prison like in Arkham Origins & Amanda Waller will recruit him.
jamesbrando3 - 2/4/2014, 2:59 PM
Birds of Prey arc will "get there": The 17th episode, airing March 26, won't be a direct adaptation of the Birds of Prey comics; instead, it'll have an Arrow spin. "We gave ourselves room to grow and evolve," Guggenheim said. "Birds of Prey is very much the same thing. You're not going to end up with the Holy Trinity of Oracle, Black Canary and Huntress right out of the gate. We'll get there." When the Huntress (Jessica De Gouw) returns, "Helena is gone, all that's left is the Huntress," Kreisberg teased. "She's become consumed by this vengeance for her father and when we see her she's in a very haggard and worn-out state. It's the big final confrontation between her and her father, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) gets in the crossfire, and the Canary has to go into the rescue."

^ Then it will be

Bronze Tiger

Some other Characters.

Details on the Suicide Squad episode: The teases have been sprinkled throughout the series, with the Suicide Squad set up in last week's episode. Producers revealed that the 16th episode, airing March 19, will be titled "Suicide Squad." And yes, it will revolve around the Suicide Squad. The episode will see Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) return, with her recruiting Diggle for a mission, and she "saddles him with the Suicide Squad, including Floyd Lawton (Michael Rowe)," Kreisberg revealed. There will be Diggle-centric flashbacks during his time in Afghanistan with then-friend Ted Gaynor (Ben Browder).

So Deadshot & Bronze Tiger are definitely on the team........
GuardianAngel - 2/4/2014, 3:03 PM

That'd be the best thing ever as long as people don't think too much into it.
jamesbrando3 - 2/4/2014, 3:04 PM
Isabel's return trip: What has Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau) been up to since viewers last saw her? The businesswoman, who has been on the periphery as of late, will make a return appearance in the 18th episode of the season. "We'll find out what she's been up to," Guggenheim teased.

Guess we'll find out what happened to Isabel as well finally....
ThePresidentGaming - 2/4/2014, 3:04 PM
Seeing Laurel Lance as Black Canary.

It just doesn't feel right at all.

They've already established Sarah as Black Canary.
ThePresidentGaming - 2/4/2014, 3:08 PM
Isabel Rochev - She will have her laser metal eye!

China White

Isabel Rochev

I really hope ARROW is in the DCCU, I'd be so happy.
soforizo - 2/4/2014, 3:25 PM
Looking forward to this. I also love it that it's a Diggle-centered episode.
soforizo - 2/4/2014, 3:31 PM
Looks like Colin Salmon (aka Walter Steele) will be appearing in 24:Live Another Day... Glad he still working in Arrow though.
CaptShipwreck - 2/4/2014, 3:43 PM

Arrow is my third favorite show on TV right now. it only falls to the best show on TV, game of thrones and the second best, the walking dead.
jamesbrando3 - 2/4/2014, 4:33 PM

This is a great new article on IGN, has a bunch of awesome new tidbits for upcoming episodes... Give it a read!
TheDemonsHead - 2/4/2014, 4:58 PM

.........or don't I don't really care
Nivekian - 2/4/2014, 5:12 PM
Deathstroke notoriously works alone, guys. Even his track record teaming up with kin has not turned out that well. I don't think they are going that direction on the show, Slade is the big bad this season.
DrunkenNukem - 2/4/2014, 5:23 PM
I still think that the CW suicide squad must be this 8

from first issue...

No [frick]ing Harley QUINN
DrunkenNukem - 2/4/2014, 5:24 PM
And cameo from Vixen...cap boomerang must appear in flash
Kallark - 2/4/2014, 5:40 PM
i think that people that are still holding out hope this will connect to the dccu are out of their minds, i love this show but, dc is (wisely) going their own route to a united cinematic universe, and not just trying to copy marvel. also, it doesnt seem like it would make much sense for deathstroke to join up with the suicide squad, at least not at this point in the season. still looking forward to seeing what their roster is though
megabatfan - 2/4/2014, 6:17 PM
I really hope this means a Suicide Squad series will be green lit at some time in the future. But i really don't see the SS working on the CW. These shows include some level of soap opera (which doesn't really bother me) & sexy guys n gals. So i really cant see it on the CW. Maybe NBC, but keep it connected to Arrow.
SnapperCarr - 2/4/2014, 7:57 PM
Captain Boomerang has a strong chance of appearing because:
1) He's been a Suicide Squad mainstay for a long time.
2) He's a primary Flash enemy, which could be great for showcasing the shared CW universe.
3) He's easy to pull off on a CW show budget.
