Is 'Batgirl' Coming To ARROW? It Certainly Sounds That Way...

There weren't too many big announcements at Warner Bros.' Arrow panel, but they did decide to end it with a pretty big teaser which seemingly indicates that a prominent member of the Bat-Family will soon be making their way to the series in a Felicity-centric episode...

Felicty's backstory will finally be addressed in the third season of Arrow, but it's the title of that episode which has really generated a lot of buzz on social media this evening. The Comic-Con panel for The CW series ended with this reveal, and "Oracle" is clearly a reference to the role that Barbara Gordon played in the DC Universe before it was rebooted back in 2011 with "The New 52".

We'll likely be introduced to a young Barbara at MIT (where the majority of Felicity's origin takes place), but an appearance from the character leaves the door wide open for the character to make a return as Batgirl in present day Starling City somewhere down the line! Barry Allen's debut led to him getting his own series as The Flash, so could The CW have plans for Batgirl?

However, this is of course all speculation for now. What do you guys think?

Felicity is Oracle.
SKOne - 7/25/2014, 6:40 PM
Batgirl had sort of a romantic relationship with Ted Kord in the comics. He also made gadgets for the Birds of Prey.
JAC - 7/25/2014, 6:43 PM
I highly doubt Oracle will be on the show, I think the title is just a nod to Felicity's work on Team Arrow.
kong - 7/25/2014, 6:45 PM
Watch her actually be a girl named Barbara Gordon from Gotham.
grif - 7/25/2014, 6:46 PM
batman already retired. all of his business went to star city.
Cayo - 7/25/2014, 6:48 PM
^ Where did you get that?
GuardianAngel - 7/25/2014, 6:48 PM
I doubt it.
DCGuy - 7/25/2014, 6:50 PM
@grif Batman is not retired Waynecorp Merges with Queen Consolidated at the end of the Flash leaked pilot which is set in 2024.
DCGuy - 7/25/2014, 6:51 PM
I think it's just a Nod but she COULD have a flash back of going thru tech school with Barbara or something like that.
megabatfan - 7/25/2014, 6:52 PM
You got Batgirl from the title Oracle?! Damn you!!! I read the header & got so exicted, only to read the article and realise you're really reaching... I am so depressed now!!! I hope to God your wild guess is right.
CaptShipwreck - 7/25/2014, 7:00 PM
Hail hydra that's bad ass
dracula - 7/25/2014, 7:00 PM
if its true have nightwing appear in the same episode it would be perfect and then maybe give nightwing and batgirl there own show and have batman appear a few time each season
DrunkenNukem - 7/25/2014, 7:02 PM could be something else
DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 7:02 PM
So, Batgirl will be in Arrow and Batman will not be in Gotham, haha
DarthCMPunk - 7/25/2014, 7:02 PM
What happened to that article about the Avengers full poster? The image on the link looked legit
lapress - 7/25/2014, 7:04 PM

NicolausCopernicus - 7/25/2014, 7:05 PM

FordEl - 7/25/2014, 7:06 PM
Felicity is an Oracle in the show. I dont think they can even touch the character.

Jonny741 - 7/25/2014, 7:07 PM
or maybe Felicity takes on the title of oracle
TheRationalOne - 7/25/2014, 7:08 PM
Josh is the king if reading too much in to something for the sake of an article. He does this everytime. And it's almost always bullshit. Not saying that THIS is bullshit. But I AM saying that since Josh is reporting it, it probably is.
smlaude - 7/25/2014, 7:08 PM
still waiting for amell to win comic con...
JorL5150 - 7/25/2014, 7:11 PM
Love the cleavage shot in the drawing - excellent down-blouse shot.

But they already revealed a LOT about arrow and flash before today - so I'd be surprised to hear more than:
Series crossover
PAF - 7/25/2014, 7:13 PM

For real! Lmao.
SKOne - 7/25/2014, 7:18 PM
Yeah, I don't really believe Batgirl is going to appear, the episode is likely about Felicty's past. If Arrow is going to introduce any other big characters to get their own shows, it will be Hourman (Mirakaru), or Deadman now that Eric Kripke isn't working on Revolution anymore.
JorL5150 - 7/25/2014, 7:31 PM
Hey guys - got a friend at SDCC and there's a rumor going around -

Look for a huge cross-universe/franchise team up movie you thought would NEVER happen:

Voltron VS XMEN !!

Don't think it could happen?
Well I guess my "source" was at a local flea market and there was a table with old scratched up DVDs of XMEN 3 the last stand - AND IN THE VERY SAME ROOM was a beta-max copy of he voltron cartoon from the 80s!
Now - this has yet to be confirmed officially - but don't be TOO surprised if you hear about "voltron vs XMEN" over the weekend!
Also- let us know if you see a beta max player on Craigslist.

...don't mean to be hateful to this show, but, in all honesty, it feels more an more needy, Felicity is a week character (yet), I know many fans love the show because every episode has introduce in some way a reference to something bigger in DC universe, or a character for that matter, but they just teasing a lot, and that's exactly why it can grow healthy as a TV show, & it might be forgetful...I'm not sure if this show must be around for more than 4 season overall...
Darriann - 7/25/2014, 7:38 PM
This would be a very good way to reboot the Birds Of Prey series from years back. After all,we already have Black Canary and Huntress not to mention the inclusion of Katana this season.
Spyder - 7/25/2014, 7:40 PM
I think you're looking WAY too into this.
bythepowercosmic - 7/25/2014, 7:44 PM
This is the DEFINITION of wishful thinking.
UltimateCookie - 7/25/2014, 7:49 PM
That's some deep thinking but I would like Batgirl to be in Arrow considering it wont be part of the DCCU I would like them to have their own TV Batman, Superman and etc. and just go crazy with it as long as it fits within the tone set for the series which is getting larger with the inclusion of Flash.
MrFantastic - 7/25/2014, 7:51 PM
The producers of Arrow and the Flash have said the movies won't cross over to the television shows, and they also stated there is Bats and Supes won't appear on the series "right now."

That being said, Deadshot, Nyssa al Ghul and the League of Assassins appeared on Arrow. Ra's is going to appear in Season 3, as is Ray Palmer. So, there's a good chance we'll probably see more DC characters, like The Question and Captain Atom, in the future.

Maybe they'll bring Barbara Gordon in for a cameo role…. just to make an allusion or reference to Batman, if not showing him. I don't think there's a mandate which says the network cannot mention the names "Batman" or "Superman."
ManDeth - 7/25/2014, 7:54 PM
A really good show does not need to rely so much on cameos like Arrow does. For example Walking Dead is vastly superior to Arrow without bringing in comic book characters every week.

Arrow is such a poor show that it has been raiding Batman's mythology from day one.

And when the Arrow producers want some interest from fans they drop the name 'Oracle'. That's pretty sad. But what I expect from a show that just can't get it done.

The Walking Dead show took a simple character simply named Daryl, who carries a bow like Arrow, and made him one of the most popular characters on TV. And they did it by working for it. They developed him over time into what he is today.

In contrast Arrow carries a bow and is a dud of a character. The Arrow producers have not developed him very well. Their solution to creating a character is to connect him with Batman as much as possible.
Darriann - 7/25/2014, 7:56 PM
I'm not saying that's going to or might happen.I just think it would be a really cool way to introduce the Birds Of Prey into the DCTVU.Should it happen?Hell yeah. Will it happen?More than likely not.
aRandomSinisterClone - 7/25/2014, 8:11 PM
this should not be an article
Ballzgotw8 - 7/25/2014, 8:16 PM
Well didn't they already have a cancelled Birds of Prey show? So why not recycle those characters?
UltimateCookie - 7/25/2014, 8:17 PM
They're just dropping easter eggs for the fans mostly because Batman has that grounded realistic feel to it like Arow does. [frick] The Walking Dead because Arrow has the potential to be bigger than Smallville. They're not 'raiding' they're borrwing because if they said 'Oh shit here's Superman' it wouldn't be Arrow anymore because Arrow relies more on the realistic and then flows over into the unrealistic (like the Flash).
mgeoff88 - 7/25/2014, 8:22 PM
That's a bit of a reach. Oracle most likely implies a person foreseeing the future, not Barbara Gordon showing up in Starling City.
J619SD - 7/25/2014, 8:42 PM
Showrunners have already said Felicty is their Oracle. Highly doubt Babs will be making an appearance.
Darriann - 7/25/2014, 8:44 PM
@Ballzgotw8 That was something I brought up.This would be a good way to do it.Could also be a good way to get another spin-off out of it.But like I also said was that this will most likely not happen
typicalfanboy - 7/25/2014, 9:00 PM
reaching. just like the under the hood episode was about red hood, right?
