Kevin Feige Talks DOCTOR STRANGE, Thanos, The Infinity Gauntlet And Much More

Kevin Feige talks about everything from the sight of Captain America's broken shield to the significance of Josh Brolin (Thanos) wearing the Infinity Gauntlet on stage at this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con and much, much more. Hit the jump to check it out!

In an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addresses the significance of a scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron which features the team spending time together in Avengers Tower. He also teases Thanos' importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that Josh Brolin has been confirmed as playing the iconic character, as well as whether or not we'll see the villain play a bigger role in the recently announced Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Perhaps most interesting are Feige's comments about future heroes when he's asked if Marvel intend to follow the comics by race swapping or gender swapping certain characters like Captain America and Thor. "It's more likely that we'll see some of the existing African American or African African characters come to life," he responded, and that last part sounds an awful lot like Black Panther, eh?

He dropped it didn't he?
GliderMan - 7/29/2014, 8:51 AM
If Thor's hammer couldn't break it.. what the hell could?
GeekyCheekyChic - 7/29/2014, 8:53 AM
I can only think of 3 things to break that shield. Hopefully its none of them because I want to be surprised. I don't remember an explanation of why its in pieces in the Age of Ultron books.
TheCaptain03 - 7/29/2014, 8:53 AM
perfect way to bring in black panther and wakanda. thats the only way to get it fixed. I just hope they dont bring in the hologram shield
GeekyCheekyChic - 7/29/2014, 8:56 AM
Odin and the blacksmith elves of Asgard can fix it too.

HulkOnion - 7/29/2014, 9:02 AM

TopCat89 - 7/29/2014, 9:02 AM
Ultron needs a defence against each Avenger = a full bodied vibranium Ultron clashes with Cap's vibranium shield = broken = Wakanda visit!!!!
Pasto - 7/29/2014, 9:05 AM
I'm gonna punch @Gusto in the vagina if he keeps clicking old articles.
antman8o8 - 7/29/2014, 9:08 AM

my theory is that the broken shield wasn't for real, Wanda is projecting a future reality to Tony of what will become of him and the Avengers when Thanos comes to Earth and causes havoc now having acquired all the Infinity Stones for the gauntlet - which can break the shield let alone anything else.
NightWatcher - 7/29/2014, 9:12 AM

Can we get some transcripts?
marvel72 - 7/29/2014, 9:16 AM
"everything is rumor until its true"

give us some confirmation on these dr.strange rumors please.
superotherside - 7/29/2014, 9:20 AM
Is it just me or is the video not working for you guys as well? I clicked the image to go to Collider but it doesn't have the video?
superotherside - 7/29/2014, 9:23 AM
Weird. I guess my Chrome wasn't letting it play. Loaded it in IE and it worked perfect.

marcvader1 - 7/29/2014, 9:27 AM
My god that woman was annoying with her incessant questions about changing characters genders and race.
superotherside - 7/29/2014, 9:30 AM
I'm hoping to see Benedict Cumberbatch to be Doctor Strange. Imagine him talking with RDJ.

Sherlock, in the same room as Sherlock!

kinghulk - 7/29/2014, 9:35 AM
superotherside- i would love that, i dont care if it's doctor strange (but i would love it) but i really want cumbrbatch to play a character in the MCU. maybe a thor character.
Bread - 7/29/2014, 9:35 AM
Hey guys

kong - 7/29/2014, 9:39 AM
Black Panther or...

DrKinsolving - 7/29/2014, 9:39 AM
They need to post the footage. At least he confirmed that we will see the Infinity Gauntlet

Gusto - 7/29/2014, 9:44 AM
Thanks, Bread.
It was yanked before I saw it the other day.
Bread - 7/29/2014, 9:46 AM
@Gusto No problem :)
DrKinsolving - 7/29/2014, 9:49 AM
I think Scarlett Witch has something to do with that scene, I know it's far off, but what if Andy Serkis is playing "The Serpent", because Odin is dead.

sKeemAn - 7/29/2014, 9:50 AM

thanks man, totally missed the other one
kinghulk - 7/29/2014, 9:51 AM
drkingsolving- that would be cool, i just hope we see the asgardian iron man armour and the other heroes with asgardian weapons like in the story.
sKeemAn - 7/29/2014, 9:52 AM
The MCU does sound like its setting up its BP debut. If Ultron breaks the shield in AOU we should at least get a cameo of BP in Cap 3.
dmm5 - 7/29/2014, 9:54 AM
African African characters lol
GeekyCheekyChic - 7/29/2014, 9:54 AM
If all the cool shit is Scarlet Witch getting in their heads in Act 1 before she shakes off being controlled by Strucker then either all the cool images will be done or knowing Whedon it just gets better in Act 2 and 3...I want reality more than what if and mind [frick] the image of Stark surrounded by the fallen Avengers hopefully happens.
KiddSoul - 7/29/2014, 9:59 AM
We need more "brothers" and women in this. Marvel I have faith in you.
DrKinsolving - 7/29/2014, 10:00 AM

True, I hope Stark tweaked Extremis and incorporated it into his armor too
MercwithMouth - 7/29/2014, 10:01 AM
Please, do not let Joaquin Phoenix be Dr. Strange. He's a phenomenal actor, but, just no...
Null - 7/29/2014, 10:01 AM
What the hell is African African?!?
BlackHulk - 7/29/2014, 10:02 AM
Not the Black Panther hysteria again. In a perfect world, Wakanda would at least get a mention if not a feature in Age of Ultron. In the animated series, Vision goes to Wakanda to steal Cap's broken but newly repaired shield and steal vibranium, but it does not seem like Whedon will be going that route. I do wonder if Falcon and War Machine will actually be joining the fight in Age of Ultron or will they somehow get injured during the initial attack and be out of commission the rest of the movie. While I would like to see a BP movie sometime soon, the BP in Cap 3 would somewhat negate the ending of Cap 2 where Cap made it his mission to hunt down Winter Soldier and Falcon would be his side kick. Then again in the comics, Black Panther gave Falcon the flight harness that fans known him to use. So many possibilities for Black Panther, yet so much room for disappointment.
FerFogs - 7/29/2014, 10:02 AM
Of course in A2 Ultron's Vibranium fist will break Cap's shield and in Cap3 he'll go to Wakanda to get some more so Stark can fix it.
NeKroziFeRPrime - 7/29/2014, 10:03 AM
just give me a black panther movie
FerFogs - 7/29/2014, 10:03 AM
@Dud - it means "he's not just a black dude, he's from Africa".
AvengersRock - 7/29/2014, 10:04 AM
I would love to see Benedict at Dr. Strange. I could also see Joaquin doing it, and either would do a good job. It's a shame they couldn't make the announcement at Comic-Con. At least the release date if not the casting. Oh well.
TelaVizion - 7/29/2014, 10:05 AM
Do realize that Thor never tried to break the shield. There was more energy than force in that attack (which we all should know how vibranium works with energy).

I wish Thor was the type that went in for the kill at first swing. It's why my boy Tony was able to give him work in that fight.
