Marvel Making Master of the Mystic Arts Movie

Stan Lee may get his wish! A few months back we reported that the venerable Marvel comics senior wanted to see a "Dr. Strange" movie next. Now, Kevin Feige says a Dr. Strange movie is likely among the next batch of films coming to theaters near you.
Dr. Strange is the Marvel Universe's "Master of the Mystic Arts," also called the Sorcerer Supreme, and while Stan Lee and Neil Gaiman have said that he is the character they'd most like to see on the big screen, other's worry that the character is "problematic."

But according to Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige, he's next in line.

"Very much so," Feige said. "I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists. I love the idea of taping into the magical realm of the Marvel Universe, which is fairly significant and hasn’t yet seen life on screen.

"It’s something I’m very, very interested in," he emphasized.

When asked if the good doctor was a bit obscure to most movie-goers, Feige laughed. "I remember two years ago at Comic Con the cover of the ‘LA Times Calendar Section,’ read ‘Marvel calls out the B team’ and there was a picture of Iron Man. We don’t look at them as ‘B team.’ Dr. Strange? This is one of the best characters we have. [He represents] this amazing cosmic universe to Marvel that we haven’t played with in films yet and I think could be amazing to play with."

I love the idea of doing a Dr. Strange movie. I'm just not sure who would be a good choice to play him. They need to find someone who could pull off being Dr. House, and then turn into a Superman-esque mentality. The other big thing is to follow a rule that is not written but should be, and punishable by death if broken, Cast an actor who has not played a super hero before.

Doctor Strange.........eh,

He's kinda cool, kinda. There may be potential. The Marvel Mystiverse is full of good stuff. It might work on a Constantine or Max Payne level. And.... It could set the stage for a really BIG Marvel villain in an Avengers flick. Dont know, perhaps. Thoughts? Discussion?

Dr Strange could be a promising film, however getting the right actor to play him would be a tough fit... there are very few actors who have the right look for Strange and anyone who does has already been immortalized as a different superhero...

I think christain bale would be perfect, and i believe MARVEL have either secretly sealed the deal already or have had him in mind for a while now. If any body has seen the animated movie Lionsgate produced, Strange's origin looks a little all too familiar ie. Batman Begins. Check it out for yourselves if you havent seen it yet, lionsgate are perfecting MARVEL in animated form. If MARVEL can create high quality straight to DVD movies of titles yet to grace the silver screen, i have high expectations for their live action counter parts.
