With the recent annoucment Thanos will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2, many wonder who should voice him. Jim Starlin suggested Arnold Schwarzenneger. I do like Arnold as an actor, but not for Thanos. The actors I've selected have had some memorable roles in film, some even in comic book movies. I'll list them and two of their most well known roles, wether they're acting or voicing. These won't be in any specific order, that way you all can decide for yourselves.

Clancy Brown

Roles: Lex Luthor (DC animated films) and Mr. Krabs (Spongebob)

Liam Neeson

Roles: Ra's al Ghul (Batman Begins) and Qui-Gon Jinn (Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace)

James Earl Jones

Roles: Darth Vader (Star Wars) and Mufasa (The Lion King)

Dennis Haysbert

Roles: Pedro Cerrano (Major League) and Jonas Blane (The Unit)

Alan Rickman

Roles: Hans Gruber (Die Hard) and Severus Snape (Harry Potter)

Kelsey Grammer

Roles: Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons) and Beast (X Men: The Last Stand)

Tony Todd

Roles: Candyman (Candyman) and Reverend Zombie (Hatchet)

Christopher Walken

Roles : Max Shreck (Batman Returns) and Captain Koons (Pulp Fiction)

Laurence Fishburne

Roles: Morpheous (The Matrix) and Noland (Predators)

Christopher Judge

Roles: Teal'c (Stargate SG-1) and Magneto (X men: Evolution)

Javier Bardem

Roles: Anton Chigurh (No Country for Old Men) and Felipe (Eat Pray Love)

Jeffery Dean Morgan

Roles: Comedian (Watchmen) and Denny Dequette (Grey's Anatomy)

Kevin Grevoix

Roles: Raze (Underworld) and Pineal Eye(Men in Black II)

Billy Zane

Roles: Hughie (Dead Calm) and Caldeon Hockley (Titanic)

Russell Crowe

Roles: Ben Wade (3:10) and Terry Thorne (Proof of Life)

Tim Curry

Roles: Lord of Darkness (Legend) and The Goblin King (Scooby Doo and the Goblin King)

Gerard Butler

Roles: King Leonidas (300) and Stoick the Vast (How to Train Your Dragon)

Ron Perlman

Roles: Hellboy (Hellboy) and Slade (Teen Titans)

Jeremy Irons

Roles: Scar (The Lion King) and Cauldron (Once Upon a Halloween)

Keith David

Roles: Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog) and Goliath (Gargoyals)

Doug Bradley

Pinhead (Hellraiser) and The Doctor (Jack Falls)

Well, that's all the actors that would give Thanos a great voice. Now, you all can decide.

James Earl Jones of those lot, i think. I don't want somebody with a regional accent, you know? Just wouldn't be right to have Thanos with a Scottish accent or something.
Niuhll - 9/20/2012, 4:50 PM
Actually, i wouldn't mind Ron Pearlman too much.

How about Woody Harrelson? (I will never take Thanos seriously)
I know I always come across as cynical, but it's for your own good. If everybody agreed, your comments page would be extremely boring, wouldn't it?

On a nicer note, I like what you did with the layout, and how you managed to find a picture of every actor just about the same size. A lot of people don't worry about that - shows character.

how is this an editorial? you gave no opinion, just a list of pictures.

@joker titanic was big
Dumegg - 9/20/2012, 6:49 PM
Christopher Walken!
Tainted87 - 9/20/2012, 6:53 PM
Because he's bald and people don't have imagination. And Titanic is 15 years-old, so that really doesn't count.

I don't see why Clancy Brown couldn't shave his head and play Luthor in live-action for once. He's the only actor to have really, genuinely, given us Lex... well, apart from Michael Rosenbaum, but I don't want to think about Smallville. Clancy Brown may be a bit old, but not too old. Gene Hackman was 58 when he played Lex.

I actually like tony todd. I never thought about until this, but candyman would make a crazy good thanos. He doesnt have that super familiar voice like james earl jones or some of the others. He has that bass, and he can be really menacing. Now I couldnt think of another person alive that should voice him.
Bane2099 - 9/20/2012, 7:57 PM
@MCUFan1

Agree, next to Michael Clarke Duncan, R.I.P, Kevin Grevoix has one of those voices that would put fear in a man LoL
superotherside - 9/20/2012, 8:27 PM
Hmm. Hard to make a decision honestly. I always thought of Thanos having a very deep strong voice, something that wasn't gravely though. Clear yet, very deep and strong. Very commanding and in a way down right frighting. Not your usual creepy voice.
lokibane2012 - 9/20/2012, 9:50 PM
Most of the options here are so stupid it's mind boggling.

Did you just put up everyone you thought was badass, or did you put any effort to think if the voice even fits with Thanos or not?

Alan Rickman. Kelsey Grammer. Christopher Walken. Russel Crowe. Tim Curry... most of these voices don't qualify because they don't fit with Thanos' appearance.

And no, voice filters aren't a legitimate excuse. Because what's the point of discussing this if the voice if to be filtered to unrecognizability.
bgharcourt - 9/20/2012, 11:53 PM
I never thought much of Thanos. For all his power, his deep seeded need to fail and be punished doesn't make for an interesting villain to me(he got the crap kicked out of him by a 5 year old human in the comics back in the day).

With that in mind I think the best fit would be....
David Caruso

^ nice
OdinsBeard - 9/21/2012, 9:21 AM
the only person that should "voice" Thanos is whoever they get to play him. don't go Rise of The Silver Sufer on us and dumb it down with two actors that clearly have different styles. i also hope he's not some CGI creation like hulk. i hope he's just regular human sized but still with all the power. always makes it more real when you have the actor in make-up.
dezdigi - 9/21/2012, 10:04 AM
How about the guy who says "You want the NFL, go to the NFL!"
