2013 Box Office Predictions

This is my first article. I'm new!


Iron Man 3: $800 Million
Reason: The Avengers has definitely raised the popularity of Iron Man around the world. Iron Man 2 made $620 Million. Perhaps $1 Billion? :)

Man Of Steel: $550 Million
Reason: Superman! Of course! The granddaddy of all superheroes. Everyone knows him. It doesn't hurt that Nolan is involved. It's not going to be as big a success as Iron Man 3, because it's a reboot.

The Wolverine: $300 Million
Reason: X-Men Origins: Wolverine left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. But this is a second chance to redeem itself. It's going to be a failure at the box office.

Thor: The Dark World: $600 Million
Reason: The Avengers has raised the popularity of Thor. No doubt.

Thor higher than Superman?

Thor couldn't beat Supeman in a fight, and he's all magic.

Iron man3 is probably spot on, but the other three will all make more then you guessed.

its hard to predict when we haven't seen any trailers,but i'll have a go.

1st iron man 3 about $800,000,000

2nd thor the dark world/man of steel $600,000,000 each

3rd the wolverine $400,000,000

@toco89 Thor would mop the floor with superman in a fight! No question. Superman has no battle experience and is a total wimp. One lightening strike and done deal.

Unfortunately, I do think Superman is gonna make more money.

Not a lot of people would see MoS because they would stereotype Superman as being a "big blue boy scout". I would still see it though. No doubt IM3 would make tons of money because of The Avengers. The Wolverine is going to make the least out of the rest because X-Men Origins: Wolverine left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouthes.

Really? It's not even 2013 yet. And other than Man of Steel none of these movies have even released a teaser.

Iron Man isn't even my second favorite Avenger, but I still can see that he's widely, widely adored, and I can also see why. Iron Man 3 is going to do big numbers. I can see both Thor and MOS doing anything between $500m and $700m, not taking 3D into account.

@ Avengerfan - lmao. Listen you're more welcome to your opinion but I have to you....smh. I'm laughing. By the looks of your name I can easily see whose side you're on, let me guess IM is your favorite character?

Listen....truth be told, we really don't know which will make more. But if Vegas dealt odds on the movie industry which I won't be surprised if it did. I will bet MOS of steel will be head on top of the list with predictions of making the most next year.

Your reason because it doesn't simply because it's a re-boot makes no sense. The will draw the attention to the comic book fan base just because it is a re-boot and on top of that Nolan had his hands on it and lastly he'll bring the regular movie goer just because he's the most recognizable superhero.

The fact that IM is in it's third might just turn off the regular movie goer. In fact my opinion the one character of the Avengers that I would believe will draw more buzz from the regular movie goer would be The Hulk just because he stole the movie imo.

Superman will probably beat all of them!

this is a dumb article cuz none of these movies r out yet so thats where u kinda messed up at least wait til we get a teaser for all of them! lol

but i personally think man of steel will indeed win big time...
hopefully nothing bad happens on opening night for any of these movies like TDKR
hopefully nothing like that ever happens again cuz it was said in the news last week movie tickets sales went down by a few million...and i think it had to do with the shooting..and cuz school started again..plus some movies did bad promotion..

If Superman Returns proved anything, it's that no one cares about Superman anymore, outside of comic nerds. I don't think dressing it up in the new movie is really gonna make that big of a difference. I don't think it will be the success that some of you THINK it will be. Attaching Nolan's name to it won't make a difference because I guarantee that the majority of the regular, non comic reading public, couldn't tell you who directed Batman.

The Wolverine will still make money because that's what he does...for some reason. Even tho Origins blew so very hard, it seemed to have some appeal to the regular movie goer. I can't count how many of my non nerd friends loved that frickin movie! Blows my mind!

Ironman is like America's sweetheart superhero now! He will do big numbers as well as Thor because of, as well as in spite of the huge bolstering from Avengers. I'm gonna have to say that Marvel Studios will come out on top as usual, and rightfully so!

once people see action in the trailer with the promise of more in the theater...people will go and see this flick. Anyone who thinks otherwise may be a wee bit nearsighted. The reason Superman failed was because it was a weak film. The trailers didn't really instill any urge for people to flock out and see it. This trailer and subsequent ones as we get further to the release date should erase all fears. All of this is based on the fact that I'm as high as a Giraffes ass right now. carry on

Yes definitely agree Iron Man 3 will make that sort of money, but Thor will also make more than Man of Steel. Not taking sides but its most likely true with the profile of The Avengers now. And please stop the 'Thor can beat Superman' vice versa. Its pointless, lets just enjoys these films

KICK ASS 2 is going to be the best out of all these movies. No matter how well it does at the Box Office, it WILL be a better movie than all of those other titles, Followed by Man of Steel. Then MARVEL STUDIOS can do whatever the hell they want, i don't care about those movies

$1 Billion worldwide right there! Just because their names attached to the project. Not to mention it Superman and if the comic-con trailer is anything to go by it's going to be EPIC!

I Think depending on word of mouth for MoS, Iron Man could beat it. He's the most recognisable Avenger and the Avengers are on EVERYONES rasar now however Superman is way bigger than him in the public eye and if MoS can shake the "Superman is lame" stygma tha hasplagud the character in recent years and ges some buzz going it'll top it easy. Regardless i just want to SEE THESE i thought 2012 had alot of good CBMs but 2013 is looking to follow it up quite nicely

MOS might not make as much as IM3 but it will be the better movie.

Very difficult to estimate at this point, because of course it depends on each movie's quality. MoS is nearly a complete unknown, and it's the most problematic to guess, since it's the start of a new series for the character, and we don't know its style, template, etc. Will it work? Tough to say.

By contrast, we know IM & Thor are pretty solid audience getters. Wolverine will probably do okay, but he's not in a league with the others.

And yes, Thor would beat Superman. No question at all. Superman is just a guy zapped by radiation. Thor is a trained warrior with centuries of skill and inherent powers.

I'm guessing MoS will be closer to Iron Man 3. Maybe, it will even surpass it. Looking at polls and stuff, it seems to me that the enthusiasm is higher for this all-new take on Superman than for the already-known Iron man. But that might be thanks to MoS having released a trailer, though

$500 million for Man of Steel is daft. And it being a reboot is not a good reason, because barely anybody (general audience) remembers the other Superman films.

'Superman' name, Nolan's name, Snyder's action direction, wider appeal than Batman which was more male eschewed.

As long as it manages to distance itself from Returns' boredom by showing action packed trailers, anything less than $800Million is impossible. And naturally anybody predicting less than $800 million is an idiot.

And Iron Man won't make $1 Billion. Avengers was an event film for the general audiences, Iron Man is not. Your $800 Million prediction is spot on.

$600 Million for Thor is good too, due to being the next appearance of both Thor and Loki (the villain of it) after Avengers.

Wolverine: depends greatly on how well the trailers advertise it as a badass action packed film (with a bit of heart, for female audience).
