The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The new issue of Total Film magazine is out tomorrow in which The Amazing Spider-Man is featured including interviews with the main talent involved.

On the chip-on-his-shoulder Peter Parker:
““He’s a lone wolf… Erratic, angry, rebellious.”

So, is the new Parker, who fights back against the bullies, not so much of a nerd, then?
“It’s cool to be a nerd now,”

“Peter is an outsider. Because that’s what he has to do to protect himself. He was dropped once; he doesn’t want to be dropped again. It’s difficult to get close to him.”

On the physical side of the role:
“The stunts are homegrown and grass roots.

“I plastered my walls with page after page of artwork and spent hours trying to get my body as extreme as possible.

“I didn’t want to be a bulky guy. I wanted to be a skinny kid beating the crap out of big guys.”

Starring Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit theatres on July 3rd, 2012.

@mrthingswehate
you might be right about it killing tdkr but i think over all avengers will comeout on top
spidey1610 - 4/12/2012, 6:00 AM
I dunno guys? In my opinion...TDKR = universally critically-acclaimed. Avengers = box office explosion, nerd-gasms. TASM = heartfelt emotional rollercoaster.

THERE...EVERYONE IS HAPPY

This sounds terrible. I knew this film would suck, but not this bad.
CaptainObvious - 4/12/2012, 1:51 PM
It’s cool to be a nerd now,”
Then why is he getting bullied?
Spidey31 - 4/12/2012, 7:11 PM
TASM will maybe beat the avengers ( most likely IMO) wil it beat TDKR......nope!

@wyokid
You keep telling yourself that. This doesn't sound remotely bad. You're trying to convince yourself at this stage that this movie will suck, but deep down you know it won't.

Best movie? You haven't seen it yet, so you can't possibly know.
SpiderFan35 - 4/13/2012, 8:22 PM
CaptainObvious: lol, only nerds say that. It's "cool" because Big Bang Theory is a tv show about nerds and computer geeks sometimes make it big and get rich. Other than that, nerds and geeks are still picked on and beaten up in school all day long :D

Ironically, the Spidey story has been showing the up-side of being a geek for decades (high intellignece, being more sensitive etc) so that is nothing new.

And Peter took it from the bullies after becoming Spidey to hide his alter-ego, same as Superman (imo anyway) so fighting back is the wrong kind of Peter Parker for me.
SpiderFan35 - 4/16/2012, 7:16 PM
@mrthingswehate: Yeah but my point was that after he gets his powers and decides to be something bigger, he doesn't care about bullies and uses his nerdy persona to hide the fact he is a superhero, like Superman, or Batman pretending to be a shallow playboy. It sounds like he is going to bully the bullies, that's dumb. (not sure if that will happen in the movie, but if it does, it's dumb.)
