Back in March, it was revealed that prequels and sequels for the 80s sci-fi classic Blade Runner (which was set in 2019 and followed ex-cop Rick Deckard, who was played by Harrison Ford, whose job was to relieve 'replicants') were in the works. Many wondered if the film's star, Ford, was going to return, and the actor behind Rick Deckard has officially addressed the very question in a recent interview with MTV.

"I have no idea at this point," he said about taking part in any film. "It's very early on. I know some of the people involved."

Also back in March, Warner Bros. producers Broderick Johnson and Andrew A. Kosove were quoted by Movieweb as stating the following about the project:
Our friend Christopher Nolan who we did Insomnia [with] would be the pie in the sky for us. To be clear I think what Christopher Nolan did - and to be clear, we cannot remake Blade Runner. As a legal matter, we have not bought the remake rights we have no interest in remaking it we can only do prequels or sequels. But I think the methodology that Christopher Nolan brought to Batman is precisely what we aspire to whomever the filmmaker is, whether Ridley Scott comes back and joins us or it's someone else. It's precisely what we aspire to with Blade Runner, that's the template for us."

What do you think about the possibility of more Blade Runner films, or should they leave Ridley Scott's classic a stand-alone? If Christopher Nolan directs, will that make a sequel easier to accept? And if they make more installments, should Harrison Ford return? Sound off your thoughts below in the usual place!

They can never come in the level of the original!
WolvieCBM - 7/18/2011, 4:04 PM
They can do sequels, prequels, whatever, but they will NEVER top the original film!
GLKilowog - 7/18/2011, 4:40 PM
This is the worst kind of Hollywood remake dreck. It's not just a cool sci-fi movie from the 80's, it was based on a standalone novel by Philip K. Dick; needlessly multiplying its incarnations is an insult to a great writer. It's like coming out with a sequel or a prequel to Clockwork Orange; yeah, the original is a classic and everyone kind of wishes there was more, but seriously, a little respect for good literature would be nice.
mattboesch8907 - 7/18/2011, 4:42 PM
is it me or does harrison ford look well rested?
GLKilowog - 7/18/2011, 4:44 PM
Then again, Burgess kind of wrote a Clockwork Orange sequel so maybe that's not the best example.
nailbiter111 - 7/18/2011, 4:46 PM
cool article, unexpected

A$$hole won't do anymore Star Wars but would consider returning to Blade Runner. It's really sh!tty of him to be so negative about the film franchise that made him who he is and gave him the chance for the carreer he has today. What a complete pr!ck...
kalel38 - 7/18/2011, 4:55 PM
@bateagle74 lol, dead right.i feel sick at the thoughts of them remaking blade runner, such an excellent movie
LEEE777 - 7/18/2011, 5:00 PM

GEEZ kinda sucks the EDIT buttons gone???

Wheres it gone lol????
GLKilowog - 7/18/2011, 5:08 PM
@Bateagle: Being negative about the franchise as a whole and being negative about the first three films are entirely different things. If I were him, I wouldn't go back after Lucas decided that Ewoks were more marketable than Wookiees in Return. I'm proud of the guy for having some [frick]ing self-respect, unlike Lucas who gave it all up for the cash.

LEEE777@ Mysterious are the Lord´s ways!... In another words... No [frick]ing clue but it [frick]ing sucks!:(
naterator - 7/18/2011, 5:57 PM
@LEEE777...for sure...whatever happened to the SW sequels 7,8,9? whenever it happens ,,,it sure is a shame that they werent put out right after 1-3...FORD still may have been able to pull it off....
nhoj3 - 7/18/2011, 6:08 PM
"Deckland"? If you're going to ask a legend a question about a film, get the f$@king character name right. Harrison was very gracious in how gently he corrected him.

MTV interviewer probably wasn't even born when the movie came out.... sheesh.
admiralhowdy - 7/18/2011, 6:44 PM
Why is this even a topic? Idiotic question and basically a "no comment" response.
RexDartEskimoSpy - 7/18/2011, 7:10 PM
Um, shouldn't Decker not age?
FireKnightRises - 7/18/2011, 7:27 PM
Hi everyone :D
man isn't he's to old for this??
marvel72 - 7/18/2011, 8:00 PM
bring back ridley scott & harrison ford & you can count me in.

if you don't you can stick it up your arse.
FireKnightRises - 7/18/2011, 8:58 PM
so they want nolan to direct this?
next warner convinced nolan to direct their JLA

everybody in holywood want piece of nolan shit
theangrytroll - 7/18/2011, 9:06 PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

To EVERYTHING those producers said. Watching Insomnia was like watching dogshit petrify in the sun. Blade Runner was great as a stand-alone film - nothing else is needed.
the1 - 7/18/2011, 9:30 PM
Leave well enough alone. Any spin-off from Blade Runner would be made for money reasons alone. It would be like trying to make a sequel or prequel to Gone With The Wind or Casablanca. Why do these money people think that because a movie comes from the fantasy/sci-fi genre that its any less precious than other movie classics?

Hellkat1979 - 7/18/2011, 10:23 PM
Yeah but didn't the film elude to the fact that Decker is a replicant? He's a robot, he shouldn't age. I think the interviewer was testing Ford on the Decklin/ Decker thing. Harrison passed.
superpooper - 7/18/2011, 11:36 PM
Funny how we bitchin we thought it would be in 2019 back then. lol
kashchei2003 - 7/18/2011, 11:48 PM
Harrison Ford should've slapped the shit out of that interviewer
ScottPilgrim - 7/19/2011, 1:05 AM
Hey Harrison.....F*** You ! ! !

Retire gracefully
opencurtain - 7/19/2011, 3:05 AM

VictorHugo - 7/19/2011, 4:31 AM
